At first I didn't like him, but Dunleavy has grown on me. I enjoy his banter with Ray. I loved RJ (and Ted Darling), but at the end of his tenure, RJ would sometimes go 2-3 minutes without giving the score, which was frustrating when listening on the radio. Yes, you can tell my generation by the fact that I listen to AM radio in the car.
Instead of having a lottery among the bottom finishers, why not award the first overall pick in the NHL draft to the team that has missed the playoffs for the most consecutive years? There would be little to no incentive for tanking. It could keep teams from ending up in drought limbo, e.g, the Sabres.
Thoughts?
For "Year of the Cat" fans, Al Stewart comes to the Riviera on Thursday, Oct. 12. I went to his last show there, and it was fantastic, as much for his storytelling as for the music.
My theory is that the Sabres are doing so well on the road because they have a pre-2003 mindset, and think they are playing at home because they are wearing white. (Of course I'm talking about the white jersey blue pants combo, not the all-white reverse retros.)
