Another Buffalo Sabres loss. The bottom line is this Sabres core of Jack, Samson, Risto aren't good enough. In the offseason the Sabres need a major block buster trade like when the Sabres moved................................

    Did I make my point?

It's the coaching, and the team culture that comes from that coaching failure and the lack of leadership along with that.

It's not enough. It won't change much if anything.

Removing and replacing Ellis (and maybe one or 2 other assistants) very well may not be enough.  But making those changes now will lend some data towards whether your contention is in fact correct.

One of the big failings of KA and this organization is that they inexplicably and foolishly seem to be clinging to the belief that there will be a linear progression with all of their prospects and players. That is not only arrogant, it's unrealistic. As you stated...and most of us have echoed...they needed/need to make some moves in the off-season and now in-season which are more than merely window dressing. It's just asinine that Pegula finds the last decade to be acceptable and is fine with the status quo. Even the most inept of franchises (I'm looking at you, Buffalo) should not miss the playoffs this many years in a row. This 'Groundhog Day' fiasco is a big 'F U' to the fans.

Don't know that they expected a linear progression of improvement.  They sold that concept, but not sure that they actually believe it.  Their definitely trying to land Chychrun and likely trying to add Pesce indicate that they did (and one has to believe they still do) believe the team can still use reinforcements.

But do believe that they expect that this team is still going to be overall on an upward trajectory via more of a random walk.  Which IMHO is why Adams hasn't been willing to "overpay" for those reinforcements.  And it's why it's so friggin' frustrating that the team missed the playoffs by 2 points last year and essentially stood pat this offseason.  Had they made the playoffs last year, this season wouldn't be so exasperating.  Had they made additional moves in the off-season or even during the season fans would at least have those to show, in GA's words, that Adams is DOING SOMETHING.

For this kid, the most exasperating part is bringing the coaching staff back intact.  The PP was, with a 6-7 week exception when they were by far the best in the league, hot trash all last year.  The fact they WERE the best in the league for that 6-7 week window proved that there was too much talent on the roster for it to be hot trash.  If it ain't the talent, it has to be the coaching.  (It's not simply bad luck when it's BAD for 3/4 of the season.)  Additional changes should've been made as well; but that one was an absolute no brainer even with all the kumbaya they were selling last year.  It's a business and the hockey department's job is to win.  The PP was flat out not just not helping that effort for the majority of the season it was actively detracting from it.  A change needed to be made and it wasn't.  Bob Wood is available.  Bring him in over the AS break and have that right for the end of this year and moving forward next year.

A large portion of the crowd was attempting to do the wave w/ 10 minutes to go in 1-0 game.  I struggle to understand.

Lots of kids in the building because of all the MLK weekend tournaments in the area.  The guy trying very hard to get the wave going was with one of those groups.  (His kids team was one of the ones that was down in the 100's and taking their shirts off after some kids in the 300's got onto the Jumbotron for taking theirs off.)

Just trying to keep the kids into the game.  And they all seemed to be even though the result wasn't the one the majority of the fans wanted to see.  But there were more 'Nucks fans in the crowd than expected.  At least 5%, maybe even 10% were wearing some variant of the 'Nucks sweaters through the years.  (There was one really sweet green and black one that a bunch of people were wearing.  No idea when they wore that nor what special occasion it was for, but that one was really sharp.)

Say it every week of every  year. They just cannot get enough losses to OT to at least get a point. Especially at home. So many regulation losses.

Because the mf'n 6v5 is very likely the absolute worst in the entire league.  Fix that and steal some loser points.

They have exactly ONE 6v5 goal so far this year.  They've lost more than 1/2 of their games so they've had at least 20 chances at it to date.  PLEASE get a PP coach with a f'n clue.

I would really really love to see the arena empty on Monday. Between the storm recovery and the Bills game at 4:30, there is a perfect chance for Sabres fans to embarrass Pegula and legitimately refuse to show up for Monday’s game. I’d give anything to see it. But I know there are still too many Sabres fans that are gluttons for punishment and keep going to these games. Pegula won’t change anything until he is embarrassed enough to where he feels he must make a change. Please stop going to these games.

How many people's tix you going to buy to keep the building empty?

If only granato challenged the actual goal? UPL head was hit. As it stands it’s the winner.

Those of us in the building thought it was a good non challenge.  While UPL did get bumped, it was before the guy set up for the shot and didn't seem to affect his attempt at the save.  Can't see the league ruling in Buffalo's favor 2 times within a week on goaltender interference immediately after an overturned goal due to off-sides.

Fully expect that the call would've stood and the Sabres would not have withstood the immediately ensuing PP.

They have to find a way to at least scratch out a 'loser point'. Can't let this effort go to waste.

They can't get a mf'n loser point because they can't score a goal 6 on 5.  Because their 6v5 play is not even as good as their 5v4 play is.

For the love of all that's good and Holy, PLEASE bring in a real PP coach at the AS break (at the latest).

Teams could have had Comrie. Jost, and Bryson for free so why would they have any value in a trade? They don’t.

At the deadline, teams can expand the roster beyond 23 men.  Comrie as a team's 3rd goalie as an insurance policy could bring something when he can be the 3rd wheel without effecting the rest of a team's roster.  Nobody was bumping a rostered player out of their lineup for a guy that hadn't won a game in 2 or so months.

Personally, see Olofsson and Comrie getting traded away, likely for draft picks.

And expect another Greenway type player brought it for a prospect (& maybe a pick).

Also, expect we'll be reading stories after the deadline about how Adams was THIS CLOSE to bringing in a true top 4 D-man, but just couldn't QUITE get it done.

Would like to be surprised by what Adams does bring in at the trade deadline, but after 3 years of nothing big happening on what used to be one of the funnest days of the year, many moons ago, am expecting year 4 of nothing big happening.

Rap was ruled out, right? But whatever the answer to that, are they able to make a change after they ruled someone out?

He was ruled out for Sunday.  Monday is a different day.  Don't see why they'd have to be held to a decision about whether a guy would be able to go on 1 day when the game takes place on a different day.

Really early look at Monday 4:30pm weather....18 degrees at kickoff, wind chill at 6 degrees....still kinda windy 10-15mph, but no where near as bad as tomorrow would be.  Chance of light snow (2-3 inches for the whole day in Orchard Park on Monday).

IF that's the game time weather, it should strongly favor the Bills.

Allen can easily throw the ball in that kind of wind.  Really doubt Rudolph will be able to do the same.

Additionally, the Bills may get Rapp at a minimum back, maybe some others as well.

Stinks that the game got moved screwing up a lot of peoples travel plans, but after the Christmas storm last year resulted in nearly 50 deaths, there's no way they aren't enacting a travel ban with a storm shaping up to be similar in intensity.  (Though likely over a much smaller footprint.)

Jost has been good since he was sent down. He really is the epitome of a tweener: a tad too go for the A, a tad not good enough for the show.

So, 40 years later Jody Gage has made his return?

Flying into buffalo on Sunday? Supposed to go to the Monday afternoon game thru the Saturday game Wondering the likely hood of airport shutting down on Sunday. Anyone that lives in buffalo would definitely have a better feel for what's coming. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you can't move your flight times up, it might be better off for you to see if you can reroute your trip through either Ra-cha-cha or Syracuse and then drive the last 1-1/2 or 2-1/2 hours (depending upon which you end up at).  Don't believe either is expecting nearly as much snow though Ra-cha-cha will likely still be having high wind advisories on Sunday.

    "Imaging"?  On what?  His face?

Do we know it was the facial injury that took him out of the game the 2nd time?  During the broadcast they mentioned another injury after he went out.  (Maybe Dunleavy was merely speculating.)

Haven't heard anything about the injury except that it's being evaluated and they're awaiting imaging results on the injury.

  14. The game is on MSG-B.

Will be watching on TV rather than attending.  Somebody bought the tix to this game months ago.  Good for them.  Not up for dealing with the drive home with needing to be at a meeting by 7AM in the morning.

Go Sabres.  Tuesday was a loss, so tonight they're due for a win, right?  Of course, 2 of their really pathetic home games were the 2 somebody bought our tix; so they're due for getting booed off the ice.  Moveable force meets resistable object.  Which trend is weaker?  Tune in to find out.  😉

Even a handful of adjustments (if they are of a seriously legitimate nature) might look like a smorgasbord, relative to what we’ve seen from KA, should you be correct the moves get made.

…Wait, you are going to be at *thirty* games live in person, just this season?

    …superfan, more like.

Will be at at least 24.  Am on pace for over 30; will likely be somewhere between that.  Plus at least 3 other trips to the arena for other Sabres related events and likely 1 more.

(Like Hank Hill used to say: "that boy ain't right.")

Well I would just say if you are losing interest in the NHL because of the Sabres you're not really a fan of hockey, you're just a fan of the local team. I'd suggest you go watch some other local sport. Bandits still a thing? Bills of course. Probably something else you could find.

If you love hockey though, there's lots of good hockey and I've seen many great games this year. Unfortunately only a handful of those were Sabres games. But the hockey? Most nights there's good if not great hockey easily found.

To the bolded, you would be wrong.  Am finding other avenues to be a part of it, but the Sabres being what they are for so long just is killing the passion for watching others play it.

Get it that you're having fun getting to tell others that they aren't really a fan considering how many times you've heard that from others.  But, again, you would be wrong.  And we'll leave it at that.

  16. Still get CI, but for a few years haven't bothered watching it more than 1 or 2 games per year during the regular season.  That changed last January and actually started to watch some other teams play when it seemed the Sabres were back in the NHL after so many years of not being a part of it.  (Well, not being a part of it in any meaningful way.)

Haven't watched more than a few minutes of any other team's games since mid-October.  But, unlike in the past when the NHL in general took a back seat, haven't been replacing that time with youth hockey, college hockey, and the Amerks.  Just slowly getting to the point of not caring.

Still haven't missed any of the Sabres games in what seems like forever.  But don't know how much longer that'll be the case.  And am on pace for making 30 or so games in person this year.  That drive is getting LONG lately.  Still love being at the game but adding all that extra time to actually get there is wearing.

The Bills being in the desert so long changed the view of them.  Used to go to 1 - 2 games every year (the Fishies and sometimes one other) but just had no desire to lose an entire day at the game back in the Ryan era.  Got a free ticket to a game last year and went, but the experience in the stadium is so much worse than watching form the living room, doubt my shadow will ever be seen in the new stadium.  (Maybe will get tix to 1 game just to say we were there.  We'll see.)  And the league doing so much to make the games inaccessible and unenjoyable lately, not sure how much longer will even care about the Bills.  Am not renewing ST next year.  (YouTube's set up sucks.)

So, @CallawaySabres, completely feel your angst.  Expect you're just a bit further into it than the few stragglers that are still trying to fight the good fight are.

Stinks so much that they missed the dance by 2 measly points last year; because this down year wouldn't be nearly as painful nor hope draining.  Still expect it won't take much in terms of adjustments to make next year a great year.  And do believe they will get made.  (Not fully sure why, guess that's why they call it belief.)  But, how many are going to be turned off by only those handful of adjustments being all that gets done?  So much damage has been done to this fan base.

    I question that 🙂

Certainly didn't seem to be the case with the response game after the fire Granato chants.

    Leadership is definitely missing though.

There's more to the coaching staff than just Granato.  And it's possible they love the whole crew, but honestly don't see how at least a couple of the assistants aren't wearing out their welcome.

At this point I think it's more popular among WNY expats than it is in WNY.  When I see Genny Creme here in TX I think, "Yeah, it's crap beer, but it's our crap beer, dammit!"

Genny Bock is actually quite good, but it's only sold from late January into March.
