Rasmus Asplund traded to Nashville for a 2025 7th Round Pick
Taro T replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Really expect this move was just trying to do right by the player and also to keep from having him become a distraction. He's the 1 player on the roster than had 2 players brought in to move in front of him as both Jost and Greenway will be expected to do what Asplund was originally expected to do. -

Kind of the yin to Murray's acquisition of Olofsson's yang. -

Am going off of Puckpedia's count. Which had them at 47 with Asplund still on the team. Levi and Johnson are pencilled in for the final 2 contract slots IMHO. -

Freed up one additional contract slot should Adams have a final deal that slipped in under the deadline. If he didn't make any other deals, he could be in on 2 NCAA FA's if any are worth taking a flyer on . -
Just saw that. That's kind of weird.

Sabres trade (D) Priskie for (D) Austin Strand (AHL deal)
Taro T replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
After this deal, Sabres still sitting at 47 contracts. Could still see 1 more player brought in without anything going back out the door. -
GDT: Buffalo Sabres @ Boston Bruins 3/2/2023 MSG 7 PM

You mean besides my DVR? No. But haven't looked for it either. Dunleavy said 'the ref in the Boston zone may have called that.' Ray then said he thought both were going. The ref in the Sabres zone goes out of camera just before the whistle blows but he did not have an arm up. -
Expect his practicing today puts him 50-50 for Saturday and a near lock for Monday. PTL.

That would make sense.

Interesting that Stillman is paired with Samuelsson again. Expecting that Dahlin will go back to playing with him when he's healthy. So wonder who Stillman pairs up with after Rasmus is back?
-
Would actually be surprised if he doesn't have 1 more Stillman type deal up his sleeve today. Also, expect that move will go over here like a Lead Zeppelin. (Yes, realize how to spell the band's name.) The closer we get to the end of this season and looking forward to what guys need to be paid when the less it seems those 2 will be in Buffalo (beyond a 9 game tryout) next season. They both are on ELC's for 3 more years if they don't play in Buffalo next year starting the following year. Expect Adams is counting on their being low cost for the next 4 years in his cap management strategy. (Could be mistaken, but until we see them play that 10th game in Buffalo next year, not expecting it.)

So Lemieux finally ends up where he probably belonged all along. He and somebody else went to Filly for McEwan. D-bag finally ends up in the home of D-bags.

Erik Portillo traded to the Kings for a 2023 3rd Round Pick

Players that aren't in any NHL team's system are eligible to be drafted between the ages of 18-20. Players younger than that are ineligible to play in the NHL. Players older than that are not draft eligible but may be signed as unrestricted free agents. -
Sabres trade for Defenseman Riley Stillman in exchange for Josh Bloom
Taro T replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Not convinced he's ahead of Lyubushkin when all are healthy if anonther D-man is brought in. He may be, but it isn't a given. Am convinced that he is ahead of Byrson and Clague right now. Hopefully he doesn't play his way out of that situation. -
Well, yes, the Quinn and Peterka deals will come up at the same time and Power and Krebs come up at the same time or 1 year earlier, but there is a really good chance that they will have 3 years worth of Savoie, Kulich, and Östlund on ELC's AFTER this coming season. This year's 1st (provided Adams keeps it) will also be on an ELC at least as long as those other 3. They'll effectively only get 1 ELC year out of Johnson and Levi as well, but both will be under team control for a long time. There is plenty of stagger to the contracts. But as of next off-season, Adams will have to start moving out some talent he'd rather keep to make everything work. (But every team that is actually competing has that issue.)
