  1. Eye test from Chicago and yesterday tells me he made several high quality saves. Even RJ, Ray, and the players have been raving about what he's doing lately.

Panger on the Blues broadcast last night also commented on his stellar play over past few games.

For me, he's good enough to win with.  Would be nice to see him steal one but always seems to come up 1 short.  Do also question his crazy and how that fits with this young group of players who have not had NHL success.

  2. Someone give me a play by play of the game winner. What the heck happened?

Tarasenko owned the Sabres.  Baited Jack with casual speed in neutral zone, bursts on entry, Jack is flat.  Seems Kane should have been deeper but is also flat, T goes in alone, scores.  Jack slams stick on post in fit. Pommers gives Lehner "please don't cry this time" pat on entry to tunnel.

  3. Ouch, to good to be true.

6 guys on the ice, great job.

Just noticed that.  Defining moment of season?

Eichel needs to be $ in OT penalty shot. His e-leet talent drew the penalty but finish or you are Brian Holzinger.  8 goals in 29 games zzzzzzz.

And Risto needs to figure it out.  Sure lots of minutes and love the rough stuff but come on dude, no naps allowed.

  4. Thorny has it right. Hamilton is a dinosaur stuck with dinosaur thoughts. It's not perimeter players or anything like that, it's just these guys believing in themselves and doing something about it. Right now, they're not

Completely agree on both points.  Hamilton gets Kane to validate his thoughts because Kane is like sure here's your soundbite blah blah blah get me out of here.  On the belief piece + coach, just have to ask what this team would look like with Babcock.  I think much better.  Does Toronto have more talent?  Yes seems like a little.  And yes our D is injured. But does that account for 10 game gap?

Didn't see the game. Can someone tell me what the crowd was like? In terms of % attendance, noise factor, booing factor, etc...? Thanks!

I think it's time for fans to stop buying tickets and attending the games. But for those who already purchased tickets, go to the games and boo the ###### out of these pieces of ###### for all 60 minutes, if you can. Not sure this will wake up the players, but it will at least be cathartic for us all to see and hear.

Was there Friday for Edmonton. Sold out and full stands.  Obviously McDavid + Friday + Holiday helps.  First period both teams looked completely uninspired and boring.  Sat w/ Chet & Muffy, 9th row blue line.  After one whistle I could hear a guy in section across ice from mine chirping Jack (probably after he missed the net for the 6th time).  If I could hear it, Jack could hear it.

I can't get to the site from where I am (natural stat trick, I think), but I saw a #fancystats graph on where the Sabres' shots came from. It's maybe misleading to say the Sabres had a lot of SOG, given where they came from.

I watched a tiny bit of the game last night. I can't get off my obsession with ROR being too slow and too often behind the play, and what I saw last night did nothing to help that. I saw that he led the team in TOI. I know, of course, that he is a diligent and responsible player, but it's frickin' weird how inconsequential he's been this year. That leads me to my sense that he's out of step with how the game's being played.

Back to EDM game + booing.  ROR was single biggest Sabre suck in that game in my opinion.  I think he had 5 consecutive turnovers via bad passes through neutral zone.  He got mildly booed by the crowd (myself included), unsure if it was audible on TV.

  5. Who do you think decided to tank? Does it sound like something Darcy would have wanted to do? Darcy went on WGR and said the extent of the rebuild would be Terry's call. IMHO Darcy got a golden parachute when he lost that argument in the fall. Same with Patty. I think Terry overrode a lot of professional opinions.

The reason a fan buys his team is to help win a championship, not to play fantasy owner. (And I didn't even mention Terry admitting that the spending spree after the 2010-2011 season, right down to Ville Effin Leino, was his decision. I remember some things so clearly -- but not what I had for dinner last night -- things that haunt me: I remember Terry saying that Darcy's original plan for that offseason was too "sublime" and he made him redo it. Terry, not Darcy, wanted to helicopter his penis and throw money at the problem.)

Which is what we wanted too, especially coming off of OSP.

  6. 1000% yes! It's the road to winning a cup! You need to have at least 2 elite players - and the only place to get them is the top of the draft

Also, it's way too early to say if it's a success or not. You need to wait for Guhle, Nylander, Mittelstadt and maybe the 2018 draft pick (if top 5) to be full timof NHLers to,say yes or no.

    I appreciate this.

I supported the tank, but the last couple weeks have changed my mind.  Our tank is complete, we have 0 elite players.  I'm not buying the "keep waiting".  Chicago - Kane was year 3, Pittsburgh - Crosby year 4.  Where are we, year 3 right and bottom of league?  Our tank failed.  Next, build a competitive team through the farm please.  Red Wings, Ducks, Devils, Rangers, Sharks, Preds.

  7. GREAT discussion at TBD. Should the Pegulas Cash Out?

    https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/198772-should-the-pegulas-cash-out/

The folks are starting to catch on.

I would see it as cashing out more so to distance themselves from the draining suck / wasted energy we are all feeling. I suspect they are feeling it 10x worse than fans as they actually have some component of responsibility in the equation "what can we do differently?".  And I don't think they are at all the problem.  Minus TP's initial spend on Erhoff and Leino, and loyalty to LR DR (which I admired at the time) their recent stuff / hires have not been out of the box.  Look around the leagues you'll find some exceptions of "great owners" and "bad owners" but I don't think it's that simple.

As for thread topic - build through Amerks is all I got.

  8. Is there an update on Risto or is he "day-to-day" and is that actual day to day or the Houlsey day to day?

Wasn't Bogo skating last week? Has he been practicing or should we assume he'll only play 15 games this year.

Is this the game where our defense finally finds nets a goal?

Risto "Week to week" I believe.  He's on IR so maybe around Christmas?

Crazy no goals from blue line again, second year in a row.  That has to change so I pick Scandella tonight.

  9. Not sure which one you're looking at -- the first one on my list is a 2642 sf house for $1.325MM but I don't see the prop taxes listed.

And I have the same opinion about $70K in taxes on a $1.3MM house!

This is life in WNY.  $40.00 per thousand assessment is a good rule of thumb, the bulk of which is school tax.  We have the highest rates in USA last I read deeply on it.  So $200k house is $8k per year.  My understanding is that the rates are not different for lake-front vs non-lake-front, so you have to fight assessment which Golisano has been successful with in the past.  Finger Lakes real estate is on fire, so assessments go up and long time owners get mad.  All said housing costs are lower here than elsewhere, so rate looks worse, but our schools are generally pretty great, but also tons of state pensions to pay, etc etc.

  10. WTF is withholding local taxes going to do to change that?  Canada geese are protected under federal law.  There isn't a thing that can be done at the state and local level.

Force locals to manage.  If they can't manage they look up to state "yo, change this", state to fed, etc.  Smart approach from my view.  Not like he pays income tax  :nana:
