  1. Wait so 2 NBC games today and no Doc & Pierre. Sweet.

I really don't want an expansion team to win the Cup. ...seems to me that a fan base needs to suffer a bit before winning a Cup.

I get it but this one is different to me.  The Oct 1 tragedy, the GM nailing it, the atmosphere at their arena, the true team they have vs tank-ology, there's just so much to like.

  2. Does this make the odds 33%, or is it higher?

    It's still 18.5% chance + the other 2 picks.

    From DieByTheBlade:

Best case of getting a top three pick will be 64.55%

    [‘#1’ pick 185/1000] + [#2 pick (if 30th team gets #1 pick) 185/865] + [#3 pick (if 29th team gets #2 pick) 185/750] = 64.55%

  3. Hudson playing fourth line? My God how far he's fallen. Surprised Borgen gets the scratch. How's he looked.

I saw him play in his first or second game, paired w/ Paetsch, looked very solid.  Big body, skates well, physical in crease.  Just one game, but Risto-lite if I may. Not so surprised w/ scratch, go w/ vets / guys who have been there all season.  Rough start though, maybe he gets a chance tomorrow.

  4. I am rooting for Nashville and NJ. Nashville because I love their game... Screw Ovi damn Putin stooge, I hope Columbus takes him out in the first round. Also, I think Columbus has a game that could go far in playoff. Same with SJ since their adds including Kane.

    No love for Ovi!?!

San Jose agree, and last night Winnipeg was awesome. I googled "Tyler Ennis" wondering what his current story is. Top of fold results all about the basketball player. Oof. Ocho cinco I get but Ennis too? Surprised.

  5.  Wow Randall fantastic write-up!  Pulling for Nashville because some Roc friends have moved there.  And Washington because it would be nice to see #8 w/ a cup before he's done.

Homer in me noticed you don't have Callahan or Gionta in their respective line-ups.  Would think both would contribute to 3/4th line or PK.

    And thanks Joker for schedule.

  6. Up the Irons!

    Well done to you both.

Did you see this item announced earlier this week?

    Sweet.

Do a lot of posters care about this? Genuinely curious.

Opening day or baseball in general?  Started drifting back that way end of last season after a couple decades away.  Not sure what that means, getting old I guess.

  7. Another 1 seed falls as Cornell goes down.

Notre Dame and Minnesota Duluth are through to frozen four. With Providence out, do the Sabres have any prospects left in the tournament?

    Here's today's Elite 8 games:

4 Boston U. (Hockey East) vs. 2 Michigan (Big 10)

    Mar 25 4:00PM (ESPN 2)

    -------------------------------------------------

1 Ohio St. (Big 10) vs. 2 Denver (NCHC)

    Mar 25 6:30PM (ESPNU)

I was pulling for Cornell.  Farrance from Victor with the gwg for BU was bittersweet.  I can't bring myself to root for Boston teams so Denver here forward I guess.  Either way enjoying the tournament.

Oh and no Sabres that I see - http://collegehockeyinc.com/nhl-draft-picks-playing-college-hockey.php

  8. I didn't know if I should put this here or in the Kane trade thread but I thought it would be interesting to see how Griffith, Wilson, ERod, CJ Smith and Danny O'Regan compare.  All 5 guys are about the same size, same age and have very similar resumes.  Griffith is the smallest of the 5, and the only one to play in the CHL.  ERod, despite being the least effective in college or the AHL, has been the most productive in the NHL.

    Giffith 25       5'9 190

    AHL 239 79 157 236 0.99  (games, goals, assists, pts & pts/g)

    NHL 76 8 11 19 0.25

    Wilson 25        5'11 183

    College 109 39 56 95 0.87

    AHL 90 41 36 77 0.86

    NHL 153 18 24 42 0.27

    O'Regan 24       5'10 185

    College 154 66 88 154 1.00

    AHL 94 30 53 83 0.88

    NHL 22 1 4 5 0.23

    EROD 24      5'11 182

    College 146 42 79 121 0.83

    AHL 128 23 47 70 0.55

    NHL 66 10 13 23 0.35

    Smith 23     5'11 185

    College 120 56 69 125 1.04

    AHL 50 14 25 39 0.78

    Good stuff.

Again on Zemgus (6'1''), since he's a #1 pick (sprinkle in GM's ego) and has size, only 61 AHL games and 17 points then "come on up kid!".

NHL ppg is .29.  I saw a bunch of his AHL games, he did stand out, but so did Flynn and my fav Corey Tropp, etc.

    And there's Larsson (5'10'')

    AHL 157 45 73 118 .75

    NHL ppg is .25

Again I'm optimistic this guy is exactly what JBot wants - trajectory, solid foundation, step by step = confidence and ability to repeat success vs "wow this guy is bigger faster stronger than his peers at 18 years old."

  9. Another name in this category:  Tim Schaller, who costs less and is having a better season than both Larsson and Zemgus.

I keep coming back to Larsson and Zemgus. They are a big part of the problem here.  Score some gd goals!  O'Regan isn't going to be less productive than they are.  Hopefully he'll be much better.
