  1. The complaints are timeless. Each is as important as the next (except old man PAs complaints). I kind of like the idea of eventually seeing a complaint thread with 100+ posts in it. It makes us look like a group of incredibly miserable people. It strengthens the idea of complaint thursday.

That is essentially my position... It turns an ordinary thread into a feature. A community defining staple. A thread that has 5,000 posts in it and 50k views. An epicenter of rage and discontent...

  2. Before any decisions are made...FWIW, I see some value in closing the threads. There's something to getting your complaint about and having the thread closed the next day. It's like burying the proverbial hatchet.

Plus, Complaint Thursday isn't Complaint Thursday if people can edit or respond or supplement or whatever on Sunday afternoon.

But I said, close and reopen, close and reopen. I just see no need for a new thread every week.

  3. I was watching and waiting.

To see my post total hit 2,000.

I look over and see it's at 2,002.

    I missed it.

    Crap.

A moment of my life I'll never be able to recreate.

I missed my vehicle passing 100,000 miles. I feel your pain...

  4. PASabreFan, have we met before?

Back in 1999, I was in Amherst buying tickets for a movie I was very excited to see. You were leaving the threatre as I was pulling my money out and you loudly exclaimed to your buddy, "I can't belive Bruce Willis was dead the entire time!"

  5. So wait, you run the place and you're wondering why something happens here? That seems like something worthy of complaining about.

Although complaint Thursday was originally my idea (or was it Tuesday?), LB picked up the ball and ran with it here...

I'm pretty sure tehre is something here that we can use to open and close posts by date/time. i'll have to look.

  6. nhlnumbers.com

Great site, but why can't they add a bit more server space during this "salary cap number crunchy time".

it can get pretty expensive quickly. $25/month per 1GB of RAM, $50/month for a RAID controller (to speed up disk access) plus another $20-$40/month for the 2nd drive.... or $50/month for a 15k RPM SCSI...

although the RAM can pop in and out theoretically, messin with HD's (often the bottleneck of many setups) is a permanent thing. You can't just put another log on the fire for a month and pull back later. His ad revenue may not cover such things.

  7. One guy all week was making references my "donut holes". With saying #%^$#! like "Do you like cream in your donut holes" and #%^$#!.

#%^$#!ing pissed me off, so today I tossed a large coffee on his crotch and said "Get your timbits away from me".

I got pulled over at the next stop and asked to leave, which I was planning on doing for a while anyway.

I'm still shaking a little I'm so pumped right now.

That sucks. I know you take a lot stuff around here and you're an incredible sport about it. You certainly don't have a thin skin. He must have been a real butthole if the situation came to that.

Do you ever watch SpongeBob? There is one episode where SpongeBob and Patrick go to the amusement park, but are afraid to ride the rides. Larry the Lobster comes over and there is some smell coming from his armpits. He tells SpongeBob, "Do you smell that? That's the smell of adrenaline!"...

I think I just got a whiff of something. ;)

  8. Ok, I'm not a big capital punishment guy, but fir this I can make an exception...

ANY web publisher who puts up a picture of a product, a place, a person, etc... and has an "enlarge" link - better make damn well sure the picture that comes up is SUBSTANTIALLY BIGGER!!! If that thing is only 10% larger it makes me very, very angry and anyone who does that should DIAF.

  9. Yep. I had the misfortune of working at a dealership for three months (in sales) and was so disgusted that I quit without anything else solidly lined up. I figured I'd rather go flip burgers than hate myself, my job and my coworkers and feel slimy all the time.

    any good stories?

  10. Listing the price of a car as $11,000 and then in the fine print put (with $3000 cash down).

Seriously? WTF? Give us $3k and we'll lower the price $3000? Wow, how clever. And you wonder why people hate car dealerships.

  11. So, my old credit union has a 30 year fixed/no points mortgage for 4.625% the past couple of weeks. We call every day since Friday to get our application in. Tuesday - we finally get them the info for the pre-qual and he says he'll email the documents to me that night.

    Nothing came.

Then I called on Wed. and...

    nothing came.

then I wake up today and the rates went up ONE FULL POINT!

I get this guy on the phone and it literally takes him 2 MINUTES to email me my pre-qual. 2 MINUTES! I waited two days for that and now I have to see if they are just jacking the rates to get temporarily caught up and then they will lower them again. I'm pretty livid right now. I mean really livid.

  12. You might as well add this one to your complaint: not realizing that both game feeds were available last night.

But, if you don't take time to change your DVR settings - what you get on auto-record is what you get. Having to manually set the channel for 82 games takes quite a bit of the convenience out of keyword based recordings.

  13. Well, I can't disagree with him coming in and cleaning up the budget, either.

What I don't like is the approach...layoffs, spending cuts, and taxes are the easy way out, IMO. Layoffs should be a last resort, which I realize some companies end up at, but they're usually a cop-out because the top dogs don't want to stop spending on things that benefit them.

What exactly does "clean up the budget" mean then?
