Another point not taken by the Sabres

‘”Any point you lose right now is a lot,” Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. “If it was half a point it would be a lot. … It’s disappointing. The points in the shootouts are big points.”‘

Mothers get their days in sun during roadie

‘The Sabres decided it was time to reward the other parent. It’s family weekend for the team, and the players could pick their mom or dad to see the team play Saturday in Florida and Monday in Tampa Bay. At least 10 players brought a mom while five dads are also getting another run of fun in the sun.’

Kulikov leads Panthers past Sabres 3-2 in SO

‘“Any point you lose right now is a lot. If it was a half a point it would be a lot,” Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said. “It’s disappointing. The points in the shootout are big points. I picked one good shooter and six bad ones tonight.”’

Florida 3, Buffalo 2 (SO)

‘Drew Stafford had a chance to extend the shootout for Buffalo, but his low, hard wrist shot was stopped by the right pad of Jose Theodore to seal the victory for the Panthers.’

Panthers beat Sabres 3-2 in shootout

‘”Nobody wanted to take a risk in the third period,” goalie Ryan Miller said. “It went back to being really slow, we got into breakaways, so it was a weird night for me in that department.”‘

Panthers 3, Sabres 2 (SO)

‘The shootout loss puts Buffalo’s record at 33-29-10 with 10 games left to play, and their 76 points leave them in 10th place in the Eastern Conference — two points back of the idle Washington Capitals for the final playoff spot in the East.’
