Yvon Lambert records his only hat trick as a Sabre in an 8-2 scrapbooking of the Leafs at the Aud. The left winger, acquired at the beginning of the season from Montreal in the waiver draft, scored 25 goals during the 1981-82 season, his only one in Buffalo and his last one in the NHL. Lambert had played for Sabres' GM and coach Scotty Bowman in Montreal.

Sergei Samsonov scores the game's only goal as Felix Potvin and the Bruins shut out the Sabres, 1-0, at HSBC Arena. It's the 22nd 1-0 game involving the Sabres in the previous decade, after only nine such games in the first 20 years in franchise history.

Are you sure he was acquired at beginning of season? I thought they picked him up before a playoff series against Boston. Of course this is my faulty memory we are dealing with, so that might explain a lot! :D

Also, Rick Jennerette's call of 'Yeeeeeeeeeeee Vonnnnnnnnnnnnn Lammmmmmmmmm Brearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr' was great as I remember.
