January 14, 1984

For the second straight night, the Sabres' Brent Peterson is awarded a penalty shot. Peterson beats Wings' goalie Greg Stefan at the Olympia in Detroit as the Sabres win 2-1 for their sixth straight win on the road. The night before in Buffalo, Peterson failed to score on Edmonton's Grant Fuhr.

 

January 14, 2003

A day after the franchise files for bankruptcy, Denis Hamel scores the only goal and Ryan Miller makes 22 saves for his first career shutout as the Sabres blank the Wild, 1-0, in Minnesota.
