How well do you know your Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer?

Recommended Posts

Taken from last year on TSW:

What was the name of the elf who wanted to be a dentist?

Who was Rudolph's father?

Who was the reindeer coach?

What color was Clarise's bow (the doe who liked Rudolph)?

Who was Rudolph's best friend at reindeer camp?

What reason did the elf give for not needing anyone else?

On the Isle of Misfit Toys what was wrong with the squirt gun?

What was wrong with the train?

What secret did Yukon Cornelius know about the Abominable Snow Monster?

What food did Yukon Cornelius compare the fog with?

Here's one about Rudolph that many people don't know.

Throughout the special, Yukon Cornelious is constantly throwing his ice pick up in the air, letting it land, licking it, then exclaiming some sort of disappointment. Why is this?

While I always assumed it was because he was looking for gold, that's not the case. It was never explained in the special, but the reason for this was because Yukon C was a peppermint prospector. By simply licking his ice pick he could tell right away if he struck peppermint, or merely snow. Apparently there was a scene which explained this, but it was edited out due to time constraints.

He finds a peppermint mine near Santa's home in a scene near the end of the film. It was editted out originally but was put back in the special in 1998.

Two "goofs" that I find funny:

At the end, when the Misfit Toys are being dropped from the sleigh, the elves assume the bird toy can fly and don't give him an umbrella to float down with. It was shown earlier that the bird could only swim, not fly.

The copyright date is given as MCLXIV, which in Roman numerals translates to "1164." The real copywrite date is 1964.
