Â We're going to have to pay for a couple defensemen who can skate...that is critical in the new system and every team is going after them. McKee is great and it sucks to lose him but he's not the best skater and I understand why the sabres didn't want to extend themselves with a rich contract to him. chileanseabass Posted July 3, 2006 Report Share Posted July 3, 2006 if they sign a dman at all it'll be a depth guy. no way they sign an impact guy (unless it's teppo, but i'm talking about someone who wasn't on the team last year). they have a ton of forwards and some will have to be moved. they'll look to swap some for a guy or two that is affordable and under contract for a few seasons. that seems to be the way darcy does it and it seems fine to me.
