Some of us got caught up on the moment as the Sabres finally resembled an NHL with camaraderie, toughness and sticking up for one another. It was difficult to figure out why as they only added a few new players so Geertsen was attributed as having an impact. Clearly, it’s something else. Hard to say if it was the addition of Doan and Kesselring (who hadn’t played when this revelation occurred) or something we as fans aren’t privy to. This years team is drastically different. Maybe removing guys who went above and beyond to avoid team toughness exercises, like Peterka. Hard to say exactly what did it but things are different now. That being said, a week from now they’ll probably get bullied by another team and we all tuck our tails between our legs. Dalton Smith, that's why. Quote

Yeah it would be nice if Kevyn could find a top 9 forward like a Tkachuk or Tom Wilson that could play top 6 minutes and be a dominating, intimidating force. Those guys don’t grow on trees. Don’t get me wrong, Adams has avoided the forest (with some minor improvements in drafting recently) and the Peterka trade. Maybe Doan is that guy. Could use another 3-4 of him on the team. Tuch could be that guy but doesn’t get dirty enough for a man his size. Quote
