There maybe another move that is more realistic.  How about hiring Sunny Mehta, who is one of Zito’s AGM and the Head of Analytics. 
Jeff Marek reported that Zito does not finalize any decisions without checking with him first. 

Then offer Dudley a similar position as Senior Advisor for some more experience

It's like asking... should the SJ Sharks make offers to McDavid or Eichel (if either get to UFA) next summer? You know, considering they will have $70M in cap space (and like---14 roster spots to fill). Sure. Of course they should.
