After a lockout-shortened regular season, the playoffs begin, but in a bad way for the Sabres, who lose at Philly on an overtime goal by Karl Dykhuis.

 

May 7, 1997

The Flyers win Game 3 in Philly to put the Sabres and the Eastern Conference semifinals in a 3-0 chokehold.

Nolan's coaching job especially during this series is the main reason why I had no problem with his dismissal. He was great duing the regular season, but I think that he got a little too emotional.
