There is an easy lower turnover approach to this coming season and that is signing our RFAs, Antipin and a depth vet D or 2 and the Sabres would have a complete roster for about $63 mill. But even this approach involves not retaining the 5 UFAs; thereby replacing 20+ % of the roster. But that would be wasting the last year of Jack and Sam's elc's, and this is not what JBot was hired to do. Also, It's much easier to get to 50% then you think. In addition to not retaining the 5 UFAs, we'll lose a player lost to LV, hopefully shed 2 of the bad contracts and it's distinctly possible that 2 lesser players like Delo and Falk don't make the team. That's 10 roster changes right there. What if we trade Kane or KO can't return or JBOT doesn't want Lehner in goal? What if JBOT doesn't like our RFA depth centers. The bottomline is that we have 5-6 core players and the rest of the roster is replacable and in many cases should be replaced immediately.
