This Day in Sabres History :: April 4

Recommended Posts

April 4, 1973

In Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs at the Montreal Forum, the Sabres' Dave Dryden makes 33 saves and Craig Ramsay scores the first playoff goal in Sabres' history to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead, but the heavily-favored Canadiens come back to win 2-1 on a third-period power-play goal by Yvon Cournoyer. Dave Dryden's brother Ken is in nets for the Habs; it's the first time in playoff history brothers have faced each other in goal.

Sniff, sniff. Yep, I smell it too. April is a great month for hockey memories. It is the cruelest month, they say. Hope springs eternal. And it snows.

Mike, wow you are old. I don't even remember these early years.

WOW that cold splash was refreshing! I guess it's all relative. Like Rock I was up past my bedtime watching the game.
