Gragnani named AHL’s best defenseman

Published on: 5th April, 2011 by Chris Roy

The American Hockey League announced that Portland Pirates defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani has been named the winner of the Eddie Shore Award for Outstanding Defenseman in the AHL.

It’s the first time in franchise history that a player has won the Eddie Shore Award.

The guy has 60 points in 63 games in the AHL as a D-Man and is a +22. I should certainly hope he would be in the running. The way he has stepped in these past couple games and played a solid defensive game with a little physicality tells me Morisonn had better pick out a comfy chair for the press box and Monty is gone next year.
