Sabres' defenseman Tim Horton dies in a car accident on the QEW near Saint Catharines, Ontario. He was 44. The Sabres host the Atlanta Flames at the Aud that night and pull out a 4-4 tie after trailing 4-1. The only Sabre ever to have died while an active player, Horton's number 2 hangs in the rafters of HSBC Arena.

Phil Housley scores in the final minute of overtime at the Spectrum in Philadelphia as the Sabres beat the Flyers, 5-4, for their seventh straight win. It's the Sabres' third overtime win in February in the NHL's first year of a five-minute extra session to try and decide regular-season games.

I believe I also remember this game. If memory serves, Mike Folino passed to Housley on a two on one and they had a major love in behind the net after the goal.
