One thing that doesn't get mentioned much if at all: UPL is good handling the puck. He doesn't just move the puck away; he actually passes it to a Sabre. And it's usually a pretty good pass. He was in traffic.

I can actually see a scenario where the Sabres claim him and it works well, but they'd have to do some roster gymnastics to make it work.
