This is what I've been asking for a couple of years. We have size and speed, we should be playing a heavy forecheck style for success. We haven't though. Maybe that changes with Ruff.

    My thought exactly.

I can’t believe I watched that whole game without falling asleep

Lol.  I slept from the first intermission to about 3 minutes left in the second period.  I win!  😄

Florida’s forecheck is brutal. The Rangers will have to figure something different.

I want to see the Sabres play that style.  All those young legs oughta be able to pull it off.

This concept is utterly foreign to me.

I have one favourite NHL team: The Buffalo Sabres.

Now, the list of teams I despise? That’s a bit longer.

Well I live here now, I see it on the local media.  And their broadcast crew is pretty okay.  Darryl Reaugh (spelling?) is a good color analyst.

I kind of like the Red Wings too because I lost track of NHL hockey during my young adult years.  When I moved to Detroit in 1991 the Wings brought me back.  I was a big Red Wings fan when they won it in 1997 and 1998.  Because of the Cup wins we got NHL Center Ice when we moved back to Texas which opened the door to me rekindling my love of the Sabres.

And whoever I'm bandwagonning on is up there.  So it's

    1. Sabres
    2. Red Wings
    3. Panthers (this year... that can change at the drop of a hat)
    4. Stars.  I guess

The Stars are basically a "friends with benefits" team:  I'll spend an evening with them but there's not really a strong emotional attachment.

the lost Superbowls to the Cowboys, in addition to No Goal, have made me hate all Dallas teams to eternity. I'm sure i'm not the only one 😛

I live in the DFW area.  Still hate the 'Boys, but realistically Jerry Jones has just about alienated the fan base here.  The Stars... eh.  They're probably my third or fourth favorite team.  I don't hate them anymore.

Please tell me how that makes a difference to the end result. Brett Hull is still carving pumpkins about it. Get off my lawn.

Of course he is, but when I talked to him about that goal he was pretty sheepish about it.

Probably true. Only, I don't want just the playoffs, I want a cup.

Baby steps, grasshopper.  Playoffs this coming year.  Cup next.  😄

Buffalo has become an inconsequential and irrelevant franchise. That's what happens when your franchise falters for nearly a generation. The pro lacrosse team is more of a sports factor in the community than its pro hockey team. That's sad and pathetic.

A friend here in Fort Worth posted a video of the Bandits win on FB.  The crowd was loud and enthusiastic.  I pointed out that you don't see crowds like in Fort Worth at an NLL game.  Buffalo drew six times more fans than Fort Worth this season (Fort Worth population is just about a million people without suburbs and without the rest of the DFW area).

I also commented that in all fairness, most of those Buffalo fans would rather be at a Sabres playoff game.

I found out it's cheaper to smash my window if I lock my keys in my vehicle than to get a locksmith.

    Window replacement $90

    Locksmith $290

...but then you're picking glass out of your car for years.

My son has a rider on his insurance that covers keys locked in car.  He got the locksmith over a couple weeks ago.  Didn't cost him anything out of pocket.  (A few hours later I found the keys under his bed.  😮 )

We've got tickets to see Suzy Bogguss two weeks from Saturday.  She's a country artist that had some good songs/hits out in the 90s; we have one of her CDs.  Pretty relaxed country, lots of steel guitar.  One thing that made me decided to get tickets is that she's playing a small venue, fewer than 200 seats, so it should be a good chance to see the musicians up close.

This was one her bigger hits, a remake of an old Judy Collins song:

Suzy Bogguss was outstanding tonight.  Every song was great.  It was just her on vocals and rhythm acoustic guitar, and a stand-up bass player and lead guitar who both provided backup vocals.  The sound was great.  This pic is from the last row (the venue only has about 200 seats).

The only reason I can think of for the Middlestat trade was he and KA decided they weren’t going to resign

My reply to that is, WHY NOT?  From reports, Kevyn never even approached Casey or his agent about re-signing him.  That just puzzles me.  By all accounts Casey enjoyed it here.  Maybe he would have signed a team friendly deal.  We'll never know, will we?

Didn't like the trade for 2 reasons: 1.  Really like Mittelstadt and his finally reaching a level that he teased he could reach for at least a couple of seasons so that now that we've watched him go through the growing pains but he's now actually a good hockey player he's gone; and

    2. rather than bringing in a D-man that's in his prime, which is what we should've hoped would come back for him we got a D-man that's 4 years shy of his prime.  He flashes some very good play, but he's still only 22.

    Repeated for emphasis.  Preach, brother.

  11. My workweek is 4 x 10, Mon-Thu.  Normally I come into the office Tue-Wed and work from home Mon & Thu.  But we got a call from Spectrum saying they were doing system upgrades in our neighborhood this week and could have intermittent outages, so I've been in the office all four days.  Which sucks.
