100%. From laughing stock to one of the top teams in the league. No doubt in my mind the Sabres would replicate under a guy like Brind'mour
Ruff gets them into the playoffs
DG with a good coaching staff and a few changes to the lineup and he gets them in next year
Sorry, but DG at the helm does not achieve anything other than the possibility of getting into the playoffs (which I still doubt would happen). Only a complete change of coaching will result in a successful rebuild (meaning a true Stanley Cup contender).

Elsewhere....Red Wings with 2 quick goals to tie the Pens......I think the Wings have nine lives this season.

Looked like Greenway and Tuch both grabbed Wilson during the scrum....doing their jobs!!!

Close to a 30 goal pace without having played many games in his career - impressive.
I'll add, we're a little unlucky with his injuries. I think we would have made it had he been healthy - then how would everyone feel about our team?
It will be part of the myriad of excuses that GMKA and HCDG will cite for falling short of meeting expectations......and will justify no changes for next.

Washington seems totally gassed....not sure they have enough energy to contend for the final playoff push.

How many more Matty Ellis powerplays do we have to endure? Please God, make it stop!!!

He made a "clague" attempt at a stick lift.....then farted as he skated by the puck in the net.

Gotta say that was a nice pass by Joki there....even though that doesn't change my opinion of him.

Interesting to note, tonight's Fan Appreciation gift from the organization were swords, with the word "seppuku" engraved on them, which I am almost positive means "there's always next season".
Seppuku - Traditionally, the act consisted of stabbing oneself in the abdomen with a short sword to ensure a slow and agonizing death.
Yep, sounds about right for a dedicated Sabres fan!

Player tablets on bench all tuned in to Masters golf.
There's more body contact and checking going in in Augusta (than Buffalo) tonight.

1st intermission sale - Sabres store has Erik Johnson jerseys reduced down to $140.
Kyle Okposo jersey's are probably still full price......because they figure he'll be back next season (ducking now).

Sad story about the Fan of the Year....good for the Sabres to recognize the family.
Alex Tuch needs a damm letter on his jersey!!!

Hopefully Don Granato's last game at KeyBank....but I fear it will not be.

It's got to start with Terry. He has to set the bar much higher, hold KA and DG fully accountable and then back it up with his own accountability to the fans.
If I was the team owner, DG would know that starting next season every 10 games he is having a performance evaluation. If the team is not in the top 3 of the Atlantic Division at any one of those evaluations then it's good bye and enjoy your free money.
If I was the team owner, KA would know that if DG fails any one of those performance evaluations then he has one chance to hire the interim head coach that saves his job. Once the new head coach is in place if the Sabres don't make the playoffs for the 14th year in a row, then KA and the interim coach join DG looking for gainful employment.
Using this formula, KA and DG have from the day after locker clean-out until the start of the 2024-25 season to make the changes they want to make. New coaches, new players, same players with different roles, trainers, equipment guys, janitors, whatever it takes. This is their last chance to prove their worth. The guidelines are straightforward and easily measured. The Sabres are in the playoffs next season or everything gets blown up..... again.
Sorry, but this should have been the expectation for the 2023-2024 season (which they failed miserably to achieve). We also know that a team can have a good start and then fall short when it counts. The staff should be fired immediately after the last game and use the summer to instead get the team and new coaching staff aligned.

If Adams is fired, then Pegula, who has maybe the worst hiring track record in NHL history, will be hiring a replacement.
Adams has done enough positive things to make me think he is bright and capable. My preference would be to see if he has learned from his mistakes.
Sorry, but this is professional sports, not a social charity or some other "feel good" situation. Adam's has had enough time to construct a more balanced roster, but he hasn't. He is responsible for the ridiculous 3 goalie situation. He is the one who jumped the gun to sign multiple guys to 7 year deals based on a 1 year performance. He is the one who extended Don Granato when there was never a chance of Granato leaving for another team. He is the one who has his head in the sand as far as recognizing the team needs more grit to compete. He is the one who has not fixed the hopeless power play. There is more, but I'd hardly say whatever positive things he's done does not outweigh the overall failure of his team to succeed. It's professional sports....get it done or you're out....no matter how nice a guy you are.

Fan Appreciation Day. Given the Sabres track record for playoffs, you would think they would do this game earlier in the season.
I hope Terry is there.
Opening day? Le the optimism last until puck drop and then everything turns to crap as usual.
Sabres announce Don Granato, Jason Christie and Matt Smith have been relieved of their duties
