A bunch of Canucks bottom 6 are on expiring contracts: Joshua, Lafferty, Blueger. They know the role.
Carrier out of Vegas. O’Brien from Phoenix, but I guaranteed Utah gives him a contract because of the value of that role for an expansion/new fan base.
Bring back Zack Kassian!!!

Uh, Quinn is already a better 2way player and was already on a higher line, playing top 6 minutes.
and he has yet to show he can stay healthy. That's my concern with him.

He was good not great in the Donald Audette sort of way. Ideal 2nd liner/PP specialist. Jack Quinn should be an adequate replacement so he can stay healthy.

So is a Patrick Kane signing next?
Na, Mike Peca as Assistant HC be more fitting. I'm indifferent on Ruff, as I didn't see any great retreads available but Lindy without a great goalie is meh.

How can he prove he can be above average in the NHL while he’s playing in the AHL?
If it’s by being an elite goalie in the AHL, looks like he’s already there.
He’s career NHL stats: 10/8/2 3.06, .901.
5 of 6 start starts this calendar year have been .925 or better.
He’s 15/6/3 with a .927 on a Rochester team where the other 2 goalies put up an .891 and an .890.
Kid had a rough start and his playoff will probably be a better indication of whether he can be a Swayman to UPL’s Ullmark, but his talent remains every bit as good as we thought it was.
I would trade anyone for the right return.
But defencemen who have put up the kind of numbers Power has before turning 22 are rare.
The team just signed up for 7 more years 7 months ago. It was like the 4th biggest commitment in Sabres history.
Do you really think they’d be considering trading him already?
I'm just saying trading him be a major shakeup. I'm on the fence to be honest.

I disagree, Levi was maddingly inconsistent this past season. I get his team mates did him no favors at times but still think expecting a guy two years out of college is NHL ready especially a goalie.

Would you trade Owen Power?

Cut outright: Olofsson, Jost, Robinson, Clague, Comrie
Trade their rights: Krebs, Jokiharju
Bring in via trade or UFA, 4 new forwards and 2 new defenders.
and a goalie to pair with UPL. Levi's been great lately in Rochester but still keep him in Rochester until he proves he can be above average in the NHL.

UPL all day and every day. I'm hoping Levi keeps showing good things in the AHL and would love if he earns them a Cup. As we've seen Shields,Biron, Miller develop in Rochester and then continue to good play here in Buffalo.

Every now and then Adams does something extraordinary.
Erm an example please?

I mentioned him at the Stadium wall earlier but I wonder if Guy Boucher has learned anything in Toronto as he seems to do well and then his teams just burn out.

Here's my choice of next HC....

1.) whatever it is you do later in the season, do it in camp. This team seems like they get ready to play toward the end of the year but aren't at the beginning of the schedule.
2.) new Powerplay. Yes, its SLIGHTLY better lately, but they don't move the puck as fast as other teams, they obviously aren't as effective as many other teams. Even if Tage is hurt and he is back to 'himself' next year, that doesn't fix the underlying problem. Get a new assistant coach? make radical changes to how you operate it, but fix it.
3.) Re-sign Zemgus, but get 2 other new guys for the 4th line.
4.) Greenway is playing well this year, Benson looks good "for a rookie"...but you need to add/find a guy who is going to net you 20-25 goals to ADD to what you have now. Quinn needs to come back too, but i'm talking about adding another scorer in addition to him.
5.) Pray for less injuries to key players. Tage NEEDS to get back at least part of the way to his form of the last 2 years (I bring him up again because he is that important).
6.) I don't think it is REQUIRED, but it would be nice to see a guy who can drop the gloves and be good at it. I don't mean someone who is going to go out there looking for it every game. Not someone who is even going to take a fighting major once per week, but someone who CAN do it well, someone WILLING when the situation arises, and someone skilled enough to be a good 4th liner and maybe sub in temporarily on a higher line.
7.) Sign UPL, expect good play from him, but don't be surprised if he regresses slightly from his current form.
No, Zemgus is so over rated by this fan base, he needs to leave like two-three seasons ago.
We also need another NHL quality goalie. Cromrie still being here is a joke and thinking Levi be ready to play one year after college was a bigger joke.

When questioned about it earlier in the season, he said that Sabres management never approached his manager. I was hoping it wasn't true but it appears that Kevyn had already signed his core centers and wasn't interested in signing Casey.
Kevyn's a fool. A damned fool.
He's looking down the pipeline with all the Centers he's drafted and feels Casey not needed. I wish he'd add a 2nd goalie.

OK, I’m reading this as purely emotional, as opposed to the “best” trades.
I think I’ve always had a bias for “Sabres” so in the moment when a homegrown guy gets traded I usually feel more disappointed that they failed, than excited about the new guys coming in.
A huge exception was the Hawerchuk trade. Housley was never a favourite and Dale may have been my favourite non-Sabre. Absolutely loved that guy as a Jet, and loved him here too. Probably my favourite all-time Sabre who isn’t thought of primarily as a Sabre. The fact we also got Brad May in that deal cements it. Big fan of him as a prospect and a player.
To play devil's advocate, although we got May we missed getting Keith Tkachuk in that trade since the Jets used our pick to draft him.

I loved the Chris Gratton trade. A 3rd and 4th line center for a big, dynamic, physical 2nd line center to counter Lindros and Holik. Seemed to be just what the Sabres needed.
Unfortunately, THAT Chris Gratton never quite materialized.
but we flipped him for Briere which to me was worth it.

In retrospect the trades for Satan and then JP Dumont were awesome.

I personally think Comrie will beat out UPL and the Sabres will finally move on from UPL. I think Comrie started last year well (he did) and then between the Def injuries and his own injuries the season got away from him. Devon Levi is highly motivated on his own, I think he already has pro level habits so I don't actually worry much about his ability to stay focused and deal with the in season adjustments.
I'm just worried about the work load for Levi, if he plays more than 35-45 games this season think he might be over worked. That's why been harping to upgrade the other goalie in the room.

It's why I keep saying he's Power's partner. I'd say Dahlin's but they like him on his offhand. Clifton is going to be leaned on, E Johnson is going to be the defense Okposo.
Who's the long beard for the goalie room? I hope it's not Comrie.

Insurance companies, why give me my prescription at a reduced rate for 3 months and then in the 4 month jack up the price or force me to use another pharmacy to get it at a reduce rate?

I asked that in another thread. How much and for how long?
I don't know Boston's cap situation but would think need to go 4 years and in the $2.5-$3 million per season area which low end starting goalie money and cost the Sabres a 2nd rounder to acquire him.

Joker was our 4 last year. If you think Clifton replaces him then he becomes the 4. No?
Joker should be on the 3rd pairing with Johnson this year, to me the biggest question mark on D is Samuelsson, personally I'm not a big fan, never have been to be honest.
