  1. 1. Bad team defense

    2. Bad goaltending

    3. DUMB PENALTIES!!

The Sabres have ZERO chance in the playoffs without Miller playing well and at this point in the slump, I'm starting to wonder what is going on with him. You can't let in 4 or 5 goals every game and chalk them all up to "he had no chance or it was a great shot". Sooner or later he has to make the big save. Biron is NOT the answer, so if Miller does not get out of his funk quickly, the Sabres are screwed.

As far as the penalties go, these guys aren't thinking at all. Tallinder takes a stupid high sticking penalty when the play was nowhere near him, Dumont trips a Ranger behind the New York net, etc...

On Jagr's game tying goal, Lydman and Tallinder were both in the same corner of the rink against the boards. Hey guys...one of you plays left defense and one plays right defense. The one playing left defense probably shouldn't be in the right corner of the rink.

  2. At the risk of repeating myself...CAMPBELL SUCKS IN HIS OWN END!

On the first goal, he just stood there as the Ottawa player went between him and McKee. On the third goal, he was standing by himself next to the net as the puck went in. I'd swear he was flinching thinking the puck might hit him instead of the inside of the net.

Lindy needs to stop this freefall quickly. I completely disagree with those on this board who would rather finish fifth or sixth instead of fourth.

Darcy...You didn't want to disrupt team chemistry by not making a trade, but it looks like the chemistry has fizzled??

  3.

I really like the sound of the lines tonight however The Roy, Max, Vanek lines still worries me in the defensive zone, as has been stated before by other, but they do sure play well together and have great speed.

    Anyone else like the lines?

I've gone on record as saying this line is a nightmare in it's own end. I have to believe they will be quickly broken up in the playoffs if they do not get it together from a defensive zone perspective.

  4. Really PTR? How many times has an NHL team went on a scoring streak then followed it up by a slump? Evry time?

They are locked into fourth. Considering that 8th will be the Thrashers or the Devils? I don't want 1st.

The Flyers are only 5 points behind the Sabres(The Sabres have two games in hand). I wouldn't call 4th place a lock. There is a lot of hockey to be played yet.

  5. -Another zero effort game. Not a good sign. Who took away my Sabres and replaced them with these Zombies.

-For all the asst. coaches did in Lindy's absence, they might as well have setup a cardboard cutout of Lindy. For the second night in a row, the offense was pitiful. Did they even consider changing up the forward lines even a little bit.

-Why is Pyatt on a line with Briere and Dumont?

-I would make a statement to these guys on Wednesday. I would call up Paille and Novotny and sit Peters and either Pyatt or Vanek(If Connolly is ready, sit all three of them) for a game.

-On top of all the same problems the Sabres had in Ottawa, add bad goaltending to last nights game.

-Have the Sabres forgotten how to make a body check. Did anyone see the lame "Carubba Collision of the Game"? It was Tallinder getting away with a penalty as he sent a guy flying into the board by tripping him up.

-They have home games(Carolina & Ottawa) against two teams ahead of them in the standings. They need to snap out of this funk and be ready to play.

    GO SABRES!!!

  6. Maybe we should make this a new thread, the "Andrews Peters Joke Thread"

Peters can't decide what he likes better(I don't know why as it is an easy call)...the press box or the bench.

Press Box...great food(free) and view of the game. Plus no need to shower afterward.

Bench...hard as rock, problem with splinters in his a$$ and cold as hell sitting by the ice in a state of inactivity. Also no need to shower afterward, because he didn't even break a sweat. ;)

  7. I didn't see Vanek on the ice after the 3 on 1 while up 5 on 3 that resulted in nothing. I think Lindy was a little pissed about that one, as we all were.

I know Vanek is only 22 and hopefully it will sink in sooner than later, but his floating tendencies combined with Lindy who won't tolerate that crap, makes me wonder how Vanek's career in Buffalo will turn out.

  8. -In a game as big as this one was, it's somewhat disappointing to see the Sabres get dominated. It's one thing to play a good game and lose. It's a different story when the effort just wasn't there. It looked like men against boys for most of the game.

-I didn't tape the game, but did anybody see Gaustad(I think it was him) get wiped out right next to the Ottawa net with a minute to go. The refs sucked last night.

-Miller was great. The result last night should have been closer to the games in Ottawa earlier this season.

-Kevin Sylvester made a lame comment during the post game show. When showing a replay of the one Sabre goal and commenting on how it was a weak goal by Emery, Sylvester said "Miller would have made that save". Very homer-like.

-Chara is going to command a huge salary as a UFA next year.

-One last note...Did Vanek get benched for the 3rd period or did I just not notice him on the ice?

    GO SABRES!!!!

  9. One other thing pissed me off about last night and I apologize if it has already been discussed...

How the hell could the referee not see that Sundin took a dive on the Tallinder penalty call. It was right in front of the ref and was a horrible job of acting by Sundin. FU Mats...why don't you go back to Sweden and finish your career cheap shotting your fellow countrymen in the back of the head.

  10. Nice effort last night by Miller. That save on Tucker was huge. I thought Kalinin played really well in his own end. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that all the Leaf fans go home crying in their beer. Mike Grier what can I say...I called you out a couple of weeks ago and since then you have become possessed. B-)

The replay on nhl.com cuts it off, but on the game winning goal, Kotalik had the puck inside his blue line and could have just cleared it and gone to the bench. Instead he made a short pass to Drury, who in turn got it to Grier for the goal. Nice play By Kotalik.

PS I only have one wish for next season and that is Buffalo fans gobble up the seats in the lower bowl for season tickets, so I don't have to see thousands of Leaf fans act like they are playing for the Stanley Cup every time they come to Buffalo. I don't care if they end up in the 300's, just not in the 100's where they are on camera the entire game. The only time I was happy with seeing the Leaf fans, was when Tucker got stoned by Miller, they all had their hands up in the air thinking it was a sure goal. :P

  11. I live in Cleveland now and usually can pick up WGR550 in the car around town but not today. Any word on who's starting in net tonight? I probably shouldn't be worried but I always get anxious with the Leafs games. With all the talk of the #2 power ranking on ESPN it just seems like this is a really important game tonight and a loss would really affect the psyche of the goalies, etc. Couple that with the uncertainty of Ruff's short-term availibility it just seems like a huge game. Am I just being a typical Buffalo fan and worrying about nothing?

I am pretty sure that on WGR this morning, they said that Miller was starting.
