  1. - Classic Marty in the 3rd period. Big saves, followed by weak ass goals. 10 years in the league and the guy still doesn't know how to play angles(3rd goal).

-Two home games. Two poor efforts.

-I noticed how the Peters fight really swung the momentum of the game. <_<

-Games against Pit, Chi & 2 games against a depleted Toronto team and all we get is 4 points. Maybe next time Toronto can have a few more players out of the lineup in order for the Sabres to have a chance.

All the Peters lovers need to watch that "fight" ... he doesn't even fight well, he turns his head like a little baby. You want a goon who plays 3 shifts a game, fine, go get one who knows what he is doing.

    no comment ;)

  2. You mean like when Spacek got called for a high stick because the Leaf grabbed his stick and proceeded to whack himself in the face with it?

Or how about 20 seconds before the 5-on-3 when Steen clearly interfered with Drury, ripping his stick out of his hands in the process.

Or Vanek getting viciously cross-checked while scoring?

I see the game both ways, every night except when we play Toronto and it's CLEARLY not officiated fairly.

There was one thing that the refs did get right on the Vanek goal and that was no quick whistle. It seems to be a growing trend where the refs are blowing the play dead WAY TOO QUICK when the puck is being handled by the goalie.

  3. I believe it was, and that was who Lorentz laid the blame on after the goal....

Throw some blame at Campbell also. Instead of being in front of the net where he should have been, he was lollygagging somewhere else. It's a good thing Campbell is going to the all star game because maybe he can pick up a few pointers from the best in the game. The guy is in a slump and is making at least a couple bad decisions every period.

Let's see...the Leafs are missing Peca, Ponikoravsky, Antropov, Wellwood, White & Tucker, yet they look like the "hardest working team in hockey".

I'm waiting for the Lorentz excuse generator to tell me how the Sabres "don't have their legs tonight".

They need a BIG 3rd period.

    GO SABRES!!!

Any word on Tallinder? It's been what, 10 days or so?

I'd be surprised if Tallinder is back by mid February. High ankle sprains can take a long time to heal.

  4. -There was no definitive replay during the game, but the one they showed on the post game clearly showed the puck at least a foot over the goal line before Teppo pulled it back out.

-No excuse for giving up a breakaway while on the PP with the game comfortably in hand and your goalie looking for a shutout. INEXCUSABLE!

-The PP had its moments, but overall the man advantage suckfest continues. The 4 on 3 PP in the first period with repeated attempts to have Kotalik shoot from beyond the faceoff dot was as predictable as you can get.

-Pretty solid overall effort against a weak team missing its best player. A good road win.

-Brian Campbell is starting to experience the same brain farts that made him a game day scratch in 03-04 and the beginning of last year. Not nearly as bad now as it was then, but his play is definitely slipping.

-Hecht is still the most underrated Sabre. For some reason he is the whipping boy of many fans, but he is one of the best two way players on the team and will end up somewhere around 20 goals and 50 points when all is said and done.

    GO SABRES...LEAFS SUCK!!!!

  5. -Pominville had 3 great point blank chances. I can't believe none of them went in.

-The referees seem to be letting things go again.

    -Miller...OUTSTANDING

-Very strange career turn for Satan. he is one guy that I thought would explode in the "new" NHL, but instead his stats have taken a downward turn. If it wasn't for the fact that he was booed loudly every time he touched the puck, I don't think anyone would have noticed him.

-The Islanders just couldn't get a shot through. I lost count of how many good chances did not get though to the net.

-Way to close out a 4 game homestand. The Sabres played very well throughout it(for the most part) and came away will all 8 points.

  6. Game thoughts...

-I thought the Sabres first period last night was worse than the Carolina game despite the fact that they came out with a 1-0 lead. Because of the lackluster play, the crowd was noticably quiet early on(at least it sounded that way on TV).

-The first two goals were odd man rushes that were things of beauty.

-Miller back to back very good efforts.

-Nice change-up by Lindy. He put Tallinder and Lydman out for the last PP and what happens...GOAL! I would still like to see Pominville up front on the PP and Roy also get more PP time.

-Three opponents in this home stand came in with winning streaks and all 3 went home losers. Beat the Islanders tomorrow and bring in the New Year with a 4 game winning streak!

  7. Good to see Carolina is starting their version of Marty Biron tonight...

What was up with Carolina NOT going with Ward last night? I know they have a big game at home against Anaheim tonight, but Ward can't play back to back games? I'd have guessed that Laviolette would've wanted to beat Buffalo in the last regular season meeting between the two teams.

I hope Anaheim crushes them tonight.

Edited my post to include the word...NOT :)

  8. -VERY good effort by the Sabres. Even though they had a poor 1st period offensively, I didn't think they played that bad in their own zone during the period.

-Miller was solid. I feel bad that he didn't get the shutout, but it was nobody's fault but his own.

-Tallinder just doesn't make many mistakes. Good to have him back.

-Staal's cheap shot on Pominville(I believe these were the players) after a penalty was called in the 3rd period was . I thought the NHL was cracking down on "after the whistle" crap like this.

-Good to see the Sabres come out with back to back impressive efforts resulting in wins at home. They have had some duds at home over the last month or so which is disappointing when the house is being packed night after night.

  9. 11 out of 14 games today were taken by the HOME team today.

BFLO and DET were lucky to come out with a point on the road...

Ducks got blanked (0-2, two very late goals) by a weak team and Calgary went down hard (1-4)...

Given the Christmas break... There is no surprise that the road team "ran for the bus"...

Sure I would have liked BFLO to get 2 points... Ya, they could have played better. I will ease up on this game...

Who cares?? All I know is that my team was up against one of the weakest teams in the league and got beat because of a poor E-F-F-O-R-T! If they piled up 50 shots on goal and got beat because of a hot goalie, I would have no complaints.

  10. To the OBNOXIOUS Canadiens fans behind me at the game, take your "Ole,ole, ole..." chant and stick it up your ass!

Once the score hit 5-2, they started taunting people leaving early, making some lame Norwood jokes, started chanting "Miller, Miller, Miller...", etc...

    F U!

  11. I was at the game. Some thoughts...

-One team had very good goaltending, the other did not.

-WTF was Drury doing passing the puck when he had that break in on goal??

-I noticed Campbell making several plays that reminded me of the "old" Campbell.

-First game I've been to in a while where Max was a non-factor. Matter of fact, that line was a non-factor.

  12. Still doesn't change the fact that the loss last night was probably the biggest team effort I ever saw, and had nothing to do with Peters, other than the fact that he dressed.

I'm not a Peters fan, just pointing out that dressing Paille IMHO wouldn't have meant jack, unless he'd beaten the crap out of everyone in the locker room during the first intermission, and threatened to do it again unless everyone got their in gear for the second.

I like Paille, but a one-man army he is not.

At the risk of repeating myself, dressing Paille puts a more skilled player in the lineup and would have allowed for the 4th line to skate a regular shift. I did not say that Paille is the next coming of Gretzky. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but a couple of games where Paille skated on the 4th line with Gaustand & Mair, were some of the best efforts from the 4th line this year.

  13. Honestly, last night's effort couldn't have been saved even if the 92-93 editions of LaFontaine and Alexander The Great had suited up on the fourth line.

Couldn't care less what Briere said about Peters, but there is no way Paille makes a difference in last nights absolute joke of a game.

There is no waying of knowing the impact he may have had, but at least Paille could have skated a regular shift versus Peters who has to pick the splinters from the bench out of his ass at the end of every game. <_<

  14. Call me a broken record, but in a game where the offense is struggling, maybe having Paille in the lineup instead of Peters would have allowed for a 4th line contribution and a spark to the offense.

Peters is a waste of a lineup spot! :censored: :censored:

PS Please don't come back with "look what Breire said about Peters". That was a bunch of crap!
