Amerks are so deep on the blueline. It will be interesting to see which of the kids get pushed out and which will push past the vets to become lineup fixtures.

I watched Fleming in warmup and he couldn’t stop a beach ball. I was worried he would get shelled and then he had a great game. Remember though it was just a single game from an invitee.

Panocha struggled and had a couple brutal giveaways but I still really like his overall package for a 7th round pick.

Metsa is 24 but he is so smart and smooth. He will be a mainstay for the Akeem’s at the least.

Johnson is really solid. I don’t know what some are looking for. Both top 5 picks, Nemec and Reinbacher, didn’t standout at all. It is hard for D to impress.

Novikov has so much potential. He will be a Sabre in time.

Rosen and Kulich are goal scoring gamebreakers. So impressed with Rosen. His ability to change the game with his feet and shot are great. Both of them are playing the game the right way too.

Benson and Savoie are waterbugs who are all over the ice and the puck. Really exciting players to watch. Both compete and get their noses dirty. And Benson has the “It” factor of great players where the puck follows them all around.’

Neuchev really competes. He will struggle early in the AHL but I bet he has a breakout after  Christmas.

Kozak is a great 4th line centre. Faceoffs, PK, snarl, shot blocks. Kid is going to work his way into the Sabres down the line.

Everytime I watch Cederqvist the takes a beating but it doesn’t deter him. Interesting size-skill combo.

Nadeau’s feet hurt him but he battles and competes and knows where to go to score.

Kisakov will take more time but the skill is there.

Really like Nicholas Savoie’s game. Much like Metsa he is so smart and calm with the puck never making bad decisions. He will push a couple D out and become a fixture on the Akeem’s blue line at some point this year.

Akeem’s?  I know you are referring to Rochester, but what am I missing?

Looks like we lost a great one.

In conversation with @Thorny his retirement is permanent.

He said that he will lurk and may post some reactions to posts, but he is finished posting.

I am hoping that he changes his mind.  After all @LabattBlue came out of retirement after many years and he still is a force even at his ripe old age.

Luckily my retirement pause was in the middle of the terrible era.  Now that they are ready to turn the corner, you are stuck with me.

The life of a Sabres fan - creating anxiety and drama when there is no need for any.

He is under contract for the coming season.  The Sabres do not need to sign an extension until almost a year from now.

That said, they will not want a distaction during the season.

I have a feeling that the contract is agreed to and there will be splashie photo op at the opening of training camp when KA will hand a 29 cent Bic to Dahlin for the staged signing.  Flash bulbs will go off and the cheesy grins will be wide spread.

A .29 cent bic?  No way.  I bet there are still some old pens floating around from the OSP days.  Sugar packets weren’t the only thing he was stealing.  After writing 0.00 for a tip, the servers pen would go right in his pocket.

  5. I have to admit my draft summary made me chuckle…

Labatt Blue's Draft: A C- Performance that Will Leave Them Feeling Blue

In the SabreSpace Royal league, Labatt Blue had the unfortunate luck of drawing the 12th draft order. With 15 rounds to work with, they managed to put together a team that earned them a less-than-stellar C- draft grade. While they did make a solid pick with Deshaun Watson at 108, beating his ADP of 93, they stumbled with their selection of Chris Godwin at 61, who had an ADP of 76. It seems Labatt Blue may have had a few too many of their namesake beverages before making that decision.

Labatt Blue's projected finish of 7th in the league isn't exactly inspiring. With a projected record of 7-8-0 and 1906.66 points, they'll have their work cut out for them. To make matters worse, they'll be facing the 7th toughest schedule out of the 12 teams. On top of that, Labatt Blue will have to navigate through a bye week 5 with 4 players on the sidelines. Looks like they'll need a little more than a cold beer to drown their sorrows this season.

Frankly if we didn't have a local hockey team I'd watch very little hockey. I only watch and follow the Sabres. Football I'm more of a fan of the sport. If the Bills left my Sundays would still have me watching football. So losing the Sabres would leave a bigger hole for me.

Good point.  i guess I feel the same.
