This year, absolutely. But there's a pretty damn high ceiling with this current core, especially as guys like Cozens, Quinn, JJP and Power continue to develop. That doesn't even count the plethora of prospects in the pipeline. KA gets a lot of guff for not going out and addressing immediate needs, but he's done an incredible job of building a core and stocking the farm with more promising assets for down the road.

Excellent summation. Re: Cozens - in the predictions thread a couple of months back, I think I pegged Cozens for something of a breakout season with 20G/40A/60P. 22 games in, he's pacing 22/37/59. That would be an excellent year 3 with more room to grow. Dylan's place is probably going to be a good to very good 200 ft guy who sets up his linemates and provides some good secondary scoring. He's getting there.

Tonight solidifies for me that we are a solid netminder away from being a very good team.

I had some hope for UPL, I thought he was pretty solid before getting hurt last season. But he's been pretty brutal. He looked like a total piker tonight.

Brutal, UPL. Brutal. He doesn't look the part at all.

12 hours on the road today (I hate Illinois 🤬)...get to the hotel, fire up the tablet to check the score and mutter "that'll do" before collapsing into a heap on the bed.

At this point, Adams HAS to make a move to solidify the roster. When they were winning, I can understand not wanting to block young guys with "just a guy" veterans. But that approach isn't working right now. Losing will poison a culture and undo any good done quickly if isn't curtailed. You have A TON of cap space and a deep pool of prospects. There's no reason you can't dip into that to supplement your rebuild with a guy that can be a part of that future you keep talking about. Go get somebody like Jakob Chychrun.
