Wheeler’s top 10 drafted goalies

Devon Levi 4th
Portillo and UPL Honorable Mention.
I was screaming my head off when we drafted Rosen over Wallstedt. I thought the whole reason we traded for that pick was to take him.

Ok so Amerks next tho right? I don't follow closely enough to know how fast goalie prospects move through the steps (compared to skaters like Dahlin, Power, McDavid).
He’s not coming straight to Buffalo.

That’s how I feel. All about value. If we get him and we give too way too much then I’ll be unhappy about the trade. But if we can swing him without giving up too much then I’ll be ok with it. He’s young, good contract, fits with what Adams is trying to do.

Anyone have the official deal?
-
You’re so quick with this stuff.

That is “team friendly” for sure.
Well done Adams.

You don’t think so? Makar, Miro and Fox are all under 10, aren’t they? And I think those are recent signings

There isn't any room in the top 9 for a rookie next year.
Also, how do you earn it without proving you can do it in the NHL?
By having the type of season Quinn and Peterka had in the AHL.

You’re likely getting assets back. The difference between the two is what you give up. What’s a playoff run worth to you? What’s being competitive in a playoff series worth to you? It’s worth a net cost of 1st rd pick or so to me.
We haven’t been to the playoffs on how long? How valuable would playoff experience be for these kids? I’d be ok with giving up picks just for that alone.

He’s still an RFA, so he has no choice but to play next year for $10M qualifying offer or leave that money on the table.
Exactly. If we trade for him then we have him next year as well. If contract extension talks don’t go well then trade him, recoup the assets and maximize his value by retaining half his salary.
And we can afford him because we’re not going to be hurting for cap space next year so his 10 million won’t affect us too much. -
I think we could basically “rent” him for a year. Give up draft picks to acquire him, let him help us in the playoffs, and then recoup those assets by trading him at the deadline next year. We even have the financial flexibility to take on a lot of his contract to maximize the assets we get next year.

It's the $9M+ that drives me away. I want be able to afford 8x$8M for Cozens this year and 8x$11M next year for Dahlin and 8x$8M next year for Power. That drives the costs of the others up so that I can't sign them all.
Welcome back!

I think that was cheaper than I thought it would be. Maybe Meier price goes down

Just as the playoffs uncover those bottom line forwards with a penchant for scoring big goals, it also shows guys who play bigger overnight (cf. Brian Campbell). GMKA may just wait and see with such a young roster.

I've only been preaching it for a few years now, but yes, I concur, the Sabres lack beef.
Anyone in the system that fits that style?

Who do you think is the better player right now, Tuch or Eichel? The better asset moving forward?
Better player. Eichel.
Better asset? Eichel
Better player for the Buffalo Sabres organization? Tuch

My problem with trading our 1st is that Adams and his team have been drafting really well lately. I know prospects are hit or miss, but Adams seems to be hitting recently.

I’m curious as to what Olofsson’s value is around the league. There’s gotta be teams that view his goal scoring ability pretty high.
I know he doesn’t have Meier value, but he’s also just not a throw in. -

No, I don't remember Tuch and Krebs being mentioned specifically but Vegas was definitely rumoured to be where Eichel was headed several times prior to the trade. Ducks were also mentioned as a possible like you say.
Well I mentioned Vegas with those two but only because I overheard inside information about a week before the trade.
But that wasn’t an actual report.- 1

Didn’t Dahlin thrive one year after going to the All Star game?

These last few pages are terrible.
It's no ones business what her health condition is.
Whoever is starting to suggest this nonsense better think twice about it. It could cost the city the Bills and the Sabres.
And that is the reason why the people paying for the new stadium should know. Am I going to be paying for this only for them to move the team?

I don’t understand why they are keeping it so secret. No matter what it is, it can’t be that big of a deal.
But when the Pegulas asked taxpayers to pay for the new stadium, that is reason enough for the taxpayers to ask these questions. -

No one probably is now. But last year right after he chose to return to school and I said he wasn't going to sign, I got a lot of blow back.
Half this board was screaming at the “pessimistic” thought of Portillo leaving. Saying people were bad fans for thinking it.
