Harrington can be a douche, but this is a pretty sweet moment. Good luck to the kid: Mike Harrington @BNHarrington Grigorenko didn't know he was on the team until I told him. "I"m on the team?" Yep. Pretty wide smile to say the least. #Sabres

James Mirtle @mirtle There are rumours out there Connolly will be claimed by the Islanders... nothing official coming until noon.

It's been pushed back to 5pm, according to Darcy and the Buffalo News' John Vogel.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, John Buccigross' picks for the top 10 faves to win The Cup: John Buccigross @Buccigross “@pbudra15: @Buccigross favorites to hoist the cup? #nhl”--Top 10? Rangers, Blues, Pens, Bruins, Kings, Sabres, Sens, Hawks, Canucks, Wild

Aaah, HockeyyInsiderr. This really takes me back to August 2012. Hockey is definitely back.

Hmmm--- steal her away from NHL Network, a la Brian Duff move Sabres Hockey Hotline from the radio to TV put Kevin Sylvester out of our misery, replace with Tappen
-
Doesn't she work intermissions for Bruins' broadcasts with Milbury & co? That actually makes her more attractive, in a sick way. Like the girlfriend of your nemesis.

What am I missing? How are these scenarios similar?

The Glode and Mail's James Mirtle: The Curious Case of Tim Connolly and the Leafs One of big issues for a player dealing with the Toronto media is one of narrative. Because it’s not so much that the mass of media covering the Toronto Maple Leafs are overly critical and pick players apart every day. You see that in other cities but not really here. Instead what you get is a narrative assigned to players that they have a hard time shaking and have to answer to again and again and again. And again. Sometimes, oftentimes, those narratives are accurate.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Tim Connolly not on the ice at Leafs practice. It's expected Connolly will be placed on waivers. More opportunity for players in system. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie As per @DarrenDreger, TOR will put Tim Connolly on waivers today.
-
True enough. I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere yet, but beneath Game Log it says: "Previously with MTL, Acquired by NJ"
-
Is Gomez already back with NJ? Greg Wyshynski @wyshynski There's probably some reason Scott Gomez is listed as a NJ Devil on ESPN. http://es.pn/WfyBWZ (Per @BK_Roche and @JDHutchUSMC)

Wow. This is the kind of behind the scenes thing I've been dying for since I was a kid. I hope they continue to build on this, because it could be a beautiful thing.
-
Totally excellent. Thanks for this!

Fake Darcy @FakeDarcy We win! Fake Darcy @FakeDarcy We lost. Kris Baker @SabresProspects Grigorenko's first "game" action in a Sabres sweater a success in my book. Looked like he belonged. More thoughts later. John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl Tough crowd. Fans boo Vile Leino after he loses puck on shootout attempt. John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl Sabres' scrimmage ends in 1-1 tie. I'd vote Robyn Regehr, Cody Hodgson and Mikhail Grigorenko as the most noticeable players.

Jesse Spector @jessespector Sabres lead 1-0 on a goal from Flynn. Sabres are going to have to regroup after. Sabres have the momentum now. Sabres reeling. #intrasquad Jesse Spector @jessespector Sabres tie it up. Vanek claims credit on deflection. Sabres’ concentration after taking lead an issue. Good to see Sabres bounce back fast. Jesse Spector @jessespector (I’ll stop doing that now.)

Eric Schmitz @3rdManIn Grigorenko rings one off the post. Back to Quebec, kid. #Sabres

Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice Lamoriello said there will be "no repercussions" and "no penalty" for Kovalchuk missing start of camp. Thinks entire team will understand. Retweeted by Elliotte Friedman Dan Rosen @drosennhl Lamoriello said he has spoken to Kovalchuk and heard Kovalchuk say why playing in the KHL All-Star Game was important to him. Retweeted by Elliotte Friedman @TheFourthPeriod Kings still in the market for a defenseman, despite this morning's trade.

I'd prefer #17, but I'm a sap!

FWIW, Garth is a bit of a Sabres' fanboy, but: SabresBuzz @SabresBuzz Grigo's snapper and wrister are more impressive to witness in person. Quick on, quick off
-
It's a good place to start on the first day of camp. If it sticks, he'll be protected, and "3rd line" minutes and competition could open up some opportunities for him offensively.

NHLDevilsPR @NHLDevilsPR Ilya Kovalchuk will arrive Tuesday, skate Wednesday per GM Lou Lamoriello.

SabresBuzz @SabresBuzz Grigo impressive as he skates through a Regehr check on the wall. Kept control of puck SabresBuzz @SabresBuzz @otterN9NE skating is impressive for a big man. He's keeping up stride for stride with Grigo and Leino
