  1. Ok, another stinker.... Like i said, heavy forecheck team and we are a paper tiger. How many crushing hits did we take last night? How many times did we go in front of the net? How many times did we clear our own crease? This team is not willing to go into the dirty areas and play only on the perimeter. Both in our own end and theirs. Getting Muel back will help our end, but we are not going anywhere unless this team grows a pair and gets in their goalies face. We make the opposing minder so comfortable that they must love playing us. (With the exception of TT blistering  rocket of a shot) We have been hitting a ton of posts and have been getting our chances, but we do not make it hard on any goaltender but our own. This team also looks lazy going into the offensive end. I am sure this is not what Granato teaches them.

Yup, that's the way. Just add a tall fat guy and we will win. The fact after all these years ppl still spout this is something, idk what but it is something. Sabres are 17th in NHL average weight and 1lb lighter than Vancouver.

I am annoyed because I keep reading this and it keeps being false. I would see this same post in 2013 when we brought in Ott and Scott and had to draft Kassian and it amounted to nothing. We aren't losing because of size, we are losing because of effort... again. The team should be embarrassed about last night.

Size doesn't equal toughness and never has.

Small grit does not keep you in front of the net. (ours or theirs) I am not saying fill the team, but our bigger players are like Pyatt was. Big but worthless. If you are just watching highlights or reading the results, then i see your opinion. If you are watching, then you are not watching the Sabres. We get pushed around taken off the puck easily. Our guys that go to the net front get thrown around like rag dolls. This team does need it, and they need to learn how to handle being forechecked other then being scared.

Defense, even when healthy isn't all that good and the goalies are subpar.  Sorry to all you that are leaving Comrie and Anderson off the hook but they need to be better.  Buffalo does defense/goaltending worse than any other team in the league...for years now.

I partially agree, but neither minder has gotten any help. From pucks going off of mispositioned Sabres or point blank chances cause we do not cover the high percentage scoring areas on the ice, to we do not have the size or strength to clear the front of the net.

  4. Well, that game was disgusting. Some thoughts and observations:

    - This team is a bunch of panzies.  With the exception of the off "Get mad" moment, we are pushed around like a 10 year old playing against men.

    - This team seriously misses Muel. Also, we need another LARGE PHYSICAL defenseman who knows what the hell he is doing.

    - When was the last team we out on the ice that could handle any kind of forecheck???

    - If we draft another undersized skilled forward.......

Do we see a pattern here? Do not need replace the team, just add some size and someone "who is not a glass Joe" that can handle the bigger and more aggressive teams. This team is going to be very bad unless that is addressed.

  5. So, i did not get a chance to watch..... I know i asked you folks to hold the fort and not let Vegas win.... You all failed me!!!!!! 😁 I felt bad checking my phone at a wake, but i still did anyways! But some thoughts....

    - We have had hot starts before, but we all know we are not on the same level as VGK, the Canes, and Lightning, it should not surprise you we lost. Expect another loss against Boston

    - We have a lot of young kids and they need to gel. We need to give them time. We are not expected to make the playoffs and there was a reason for that.

    - Comrie has some crappy luck and another goal off of a Sabre??? I did hear he made some insane saves, but not having Muel and Joki is really hurting the D. It also sounds like Bush is playing hurt. The replacements are smaller non defensive so results are expected.

    - Again i will say, TT Boy is for real!

I think we need to stop getting non physical players and add some grit, and yes even on the defensive side. I honestly believe they are playing hard as a team, but we are just not there yet. Yes i thought the hot start would be different this year, but reality just gave us all a slap in the face to wake us up. Just be patient, new kids, and they are growing. We have more bright spots then dark ones. If you want to worry, worry about the Bills! They are the ones that are really screwed.

I have Disney+ but wasn't aware they were offering that bundle until after I renewed just Disney+ by itself.

That sucks with the MSG thing...I just stream from my laptop, very reliable site for that and it carries every game.

You can still get your bundle changed.... just call disney + they will do it over the phone. Its very easy and worth it

  7. Unless this team shows some consistency in a good way this arena is going to be a ghost town. having bad teams come to town and you lay an egg is not going to help the Sabres cause. I think even with a full roster we would have lost last night. They kids need to grow up and it is going to take some time and some tweaks. This roster is not going to make the playoffs without some grit and physicality and someone that is will to go in front of the net on offense and really be able to defensively clear out own net (without putting the puck in it!)

  8. So, Buffalo teams are a combined 0-4 in the last 4. I predict Buffalo going at least another 0-3. Best chance for a win is Sabres showing up against VGK or Boston. Unfortunately both those teams are most likely the best in the league. Sigh..... typical buffalo fan year coming up me thinks.....

    From last night:

    - This team is too damn small and not physical enough. I have been saying this for years. Stop getting small skilled players, we need a real power forward with grit. The got pushed all over the ice.

    - They need to practice or figure out the tight checking team or this is going to be a very long year.

    - New lines sucked. That kind of change should have been done in the offseason, not during the season. They had no cohesion at all last night.

    - Tage is the real deal and think we can put to rest whether his contract was worth it...... IT IS!!!

    - Poor Comrie...... How many goals against him have gone off of Sabres players in front of the net???? His GAA should be at least a 1/2 point lower.

Hope I am wrong but I see a miserable week for Buffalo fans.

  9. This is going to be a hard game for the Sabres. Canes have an insane aggressive forecheck, and we all know the Sabres do not do well with that. Canes are also not a team to play tired on a back to back. Definitely a test for the boys in Blue. The beginning of a rough 5 games coming up. Would not be surprised if we ended it at .500 or ended it 10-5-0. Time to see what this team can do!!!

  10.  Some thoughts and observations of last night's game:

    - I know i am in the minority but i love the white on white. Looks almost too clean. Although i think the blue pants idea would look a tad better. Overall i love the reverse retro.

    - We really need our walking (Or not) wounded dmen back!!! Wayyyyy the hell too many odd man breaks. Pitt maybe old, but they have the skill to score more often then not on them. (Unlike us last night!)

    - Even though we are down 3 of 4 top dmen, our replacements definitely came to play!!! They throw the body and skate like demons!! Definitely helps this team!

    - goals, goals and more goals! Once this team smells blood they have been rolling teams!! When was the last time we had a team that would hem the other team in their own zone for minutes at an end???? 90's??? The more they do, the more confidence it gives them to do it again. Love that the most!

    - Comrie is definitely an upgrade to what we have had the last couple of years! He has been a bit snake bitten (I think Power has 2 goals against him) but he stays the course and make great saves when needed! He is much better then his numbers.

    - Still needs to figure out how to deal with the tight checking team. Always been a problem for this team, but seeing slight improvement as the year goes by. Also, was it me or did the Pens look a ton bigger then our team? But the positive is that our boys fight like hell along the boards, size or not!

Love this team!!! I think they are playing a tad above their heads, but damn they are fun to watch and i never feel like they are out of the game. Once our defense gets healthy, it will be even better!!!

  11. That had to have been the most dominant i have seen this team over the last couple of years. Even though Detroit had the size, Buffalo would just hem them in their own end for minutes at a time. Their goalie looked physically exhausted!!! LOL When he took that inference penalty, i knew he was done like dinner. All i can say is i would like some more of that play please!!!!

Quotes from post game all acknowledged this and Cozens I believe basically said this exact thing.

That's great they all acknowledge it, now let us try something new and actually do it. 😁 Or, lets find someone that we can pick up or trade for that makes his mark in front of the net. Hell, let us find one for every line while we are at it. Sorry, this story of no net presence is getting old. Can we bring back Andreychuk?

Most everybody had moments where they looked good including the board's favorite whipping boys.  Problem was, even when they were hemming Moe-ray-all in their zone, there was a disconnectedness to it.  They rarely could generate a flurry of rebounds from the 1st shot.  And at the other end, though they didn't give up many high danger chances, they broke down just enough to let the Habs convert on 1 more opportunity than they did.

That's because we are back to "Scared to go in front of the net" Sabres. We have needed that for a long time.

  14. Ok.... was going to post last night but decided to wait until my anger was diminished. Some thoughts and observations from the game:

    - Our PP is too predictable with zero creativity other then feed Goaloffson and Tage. That needs to change ASAP

    - As much as folks say it was just a puck luck game that we should have won...... not buying that. When the Habs penned the Sabres in, it was for long periods of time. They created their own puck luck!!! We would would get into their zone and be one and done. Yes, we had a ton of shots, but a lot of them their goalie could easily see and NOBODY parks in front of the net!!!

    - We looked small and undersized next to Montreal and did not win a lot of the board battles.

    - We suck at faceoffs when it counts

    - Same old Sabres: always panics when a heavy forecheck happens.

    - Team overall looked ungodly slow: Maybe lag from trip, but not the first game i have seen this.

I know only a few games in and i will watch win or lose, but some things were changed from last year that were working well. Some smaller tweaks and we should be ok as the season progresses and the kids develop. On a side note, i love what i have seen from Comrie. Once we are back to normal on our Defense he will be awesome!
