Thanks to UPL. Great game. Just the kind of thing you hoped for when we acquired him.

Very fortunate on the two replays. Easily could have been down 3-1 at one point. And a few posts. Whew. We need some fortunate games every so often but that was easily a loss. However maybe it will build some confidence. 2 in a row!!

Now comes a big test. Let’s go!

I wonder if it's ever happened before, a team scores 3 times to tie the other team 1-1?

How many times have they followed up an embarrassing loss with a big win or vice versa?  Closing out 2023 will show us if it’s talk or walk—Rangers and Bruins, followed by CBJ and Sens.

1 of 4 from the first two, then 2 of 4 with a comeback win against CBJ, but a stinker against the Sens.  I think that last game shows who they are, a team with a lot of skilled players, but very few who play NHL-style hockey.  They look good in run-and-gun WHL-style games, but play rough with them, they simply don't have the players to "take a stand" against that style of play.  Ottawa's players certainly know this, and Cozens or Tuch certainly aren't going to try it again. The team is a reflection of the GM (and coach).

Ps. Can't wait for the next video Sabres PR posts with the pretty boys in their suits walking into the arena.

The Ranger goalie is a top tier goalie. He was the difference in the game. The Sabres had more than enough chances to win. We had a number of breakaways that we didn't capitalize on. Their goalie stymied those chances.

On the positive side, the Sabres showed character after they got behind 2-0. They kept playing hard and pushed the play. They got back into the game. The biggest plus for me was the play of Quinn. He seems to have regained his speed and quickness. Another positive thing about this game is the play of Ryan Johnson. Although he's young and inexperienced he is very composed on the ice.  He plays like he belongs.

I thought Mitts played well in this game.

I also liked the play of Greenway. There is little flash or speed to his game. He simply adds some beef and strength to the lineup. His muscle play behind the net where he got the puck to Mitts for a score was impressive. He's also a valuable penalty killer.

No question that I'm disappointed at the outcome but we at least got a point out of this game. If the Sabres would have played with this effort throughout the season, we would have at least 6 more points.

The injured players are returning to health so the lines should be stabilized. The team dug a hole for itself. They need to continue playing the way it did last night to get back into playoff contention. There is little margin for error. Just keep playing hard.

The real test from my perspective is how they play cbj and ott this week. The let downs against lesser teams has to stop

This could be the defining moment for this team. It’s time to step up and grow up.
that said, skinner is an albatross. He’s never been to the playoffs. As soon as he left Carolina, they made the playoffs.
I actually love the guy, but…ya gotta face facts.

Let the win streak commence with the albatross of their necks.  Hehehe...

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Benson is a surprisingly good forechecker. Don't know if the line survives together when the injured players return, but all three of those guys are good

Specifically, Quinn’s return, since it was his spot. Either way, one of Quinn and Benson will need a line, which is a good problem to have.
