As a 1OA, how long should we expect it take for him to develop? And I'm still trying to figure out what his competitive advantage is... skating, defense, toughness, puck movement, enthusiasm/energy?

Well put. As they say “Some people aren’t happy unless they’re miserable”. That, and for some people, being pessimistic is a defense mechanism where they can either enjoy the win or enjoy being able to say “I told you they suck and wouldn’t win”.
