Well, this, and the fact that he has never actually demonstrated having sustainable stand-out talent amongst peers in any league but high-school, not counting one-off tournaments.

His development path should've gone through AHL for this reason alone.  1 year in college, fine.  But after that he should've been playing in the AHL for at least a year.  He's still learning how to be a hockey player at this point and he's somehow played over 100 games with the big club.

The NFL combine bench is 225 for every player though. Some guys that's 120% their body weight. The NHL combine is 70-80% body weight (when Casey was there) he only had to bench 160 pounds and he only did 1. That just screams to me that he doesn't care.

Yeah - big red flag.  I haven't benched in over a year and I can do that easy.  Does this guy even lift bro?

I'll admit I'm newer to looking at hockey analytics in general, and i think drafting players is even more difficult to evaluate based on massively different levels of competition- but what was it about Mittelstadt that they liked so much more than a Thomas, Vilardi, Suzuki from the same class?

That's all there is to it. You know every exercise that you will have to do ahead of time. How do you ***** that up?

Not to mention... I'm in absolutely terrible shape at the moment and i can do a pull-up.  They aren't hard.

It's like when a player does poorly on the bench at the NFL combine.  Doing well isn't indicative of a good player, but doing really poorly is indicative of a lazy player.

So you don't want any natural RW on the entire team?

Probably easier to move risto/montour/reinhart for wings and centers though.  I don't think halls coming here so this is probably moot.

You can't trade skinners contract, and i dont know that a team that struggles to score goals should be moving a player like oloffson.  So yeah... its not really much of a fit to bring in hall.

I think finding a new RW to play with eichel might be cheaper in terms of trade value than trying to find a center.  That way you can create a 2nd line around reinhart and maybe skinner - to go with olof-eich-new guy.  In any case - moves will need to be made, I'm not in favor of spending on a guy like hall.

  5. Is free agency before or after the draft in the weird year?  Not that it matters a ton since 99% of drafted players don't suit up - but it changes what a team like buffalo might do with their pick.

Tage had 0 secondary assists?  Weird.

Mitts is solidly middle of the team.  Ugh.

And Asplund will not be an NHL player for any more than a cup of coffee.

Considering it doesn't include zone starts 5on5 or any of the other components of hockey its hard to say with asplund.  It's not a good look to be near the bottom of that list, but there's a lot of reasons for it to be that case.

A good placeholder 2C, a 2nd line/3rd line winger, and a goaltending upgrade is a must for 20-21.  Fail to accomplish this, and the Sabres are looking at another bottom 10 finish...the silver lining...Adams is so well liked by Kym that his job is safe no matter what crap he throws out on the ice.

Hes a first year GM... i think his jobs safe.

This obsession with getting the biggest wings needs to stop.  I have no desire for anything that I can't chomp in a couple of bites.  The exterior of the wing is what makes a wing.

I've had good like duck wings that were a bit bigger.  But they do require a bit of a different preparation.

I also think larger flats are better than larger drums.  I feel like with large drums, the fat doesn't render as well as a smaller drum so you end up with some chewy grizzly wings.

I have also had the opposite experience - Wings so big they don't fry right, the sauce-to-wing ratio gets thrown off, and I can't even finish a dozen without supplemental oxygen. This is fairly common in today's world of mutant factory farm chickens.

There's definitely a sweet spot between giant mutant wings and little caesers.

I've always liked Nine-Eleven for their consistency.  Didn't realize the same guy has allegedly made them for the last 30 years.  Crispy outside, tender inside.  Unique sauce, think they may use a grated cheese in it.  Maybe that's what might cause some people to get upset stomachs.  The key to that place is get there early.  Like when they open early.

Yeah, its either fresh garlic or maybe parm?  they also mix a little bleu cheese in the sauce

I've never understood blue cheese on wings.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a weirdo that likes ranch. I just don't see the need for anything on my wing if it's done right.  Blue cheese completely eviscerates the awesome flavor that should already exist.  Don't ***** with it.

I dunno - i like the hot sauce mixed with bleu cheese flavor?  I like a good chunky one too so i get some bits in there.

For the record, anyone putting a recipe out there that says to coat the wings in any sort of flour mixture... WTF? I googled to make sure I had the internal temp right and found a few recipes that claimed to be "Buffalo style wings" that involved coating the wings in a batter. No.

I've read a little baking powder, then cooking them in the oven on a wire rack can get them similarly crispy.

It seems more and more people putting Gabriel’s on the overrated sign of the ledger. I still like their wings but customer service sucks and it’s not a surprise because owner is a jerk.

This. It’s bar bill and it’s not even close. like you said they do everything right. There’s a bunch that could fight for distant second.

Nine -eleven is the absolute worst.

bad experience?  I've been twice and i thought they were probably top dogs next to bar bill.

I don't love the... cram in and wait 90 minutes for food though.  I can go to bar bill and just have a normal dinner.  nine-eleven is like a whole to-do.

Bar-Bill is the best restaurant for wings, if you can actually get in the door.  They have very good beef on weck too.

But haven't been there in several years because the wait for a table has been too long the couple of times we tried to go there.

Used to always be able to get in & then too many of us talked up (correctly) how good they are.  (Where's that Homer Simpson D'oh emoji when you need it?)

The location in clarence does reservations, and takes credit cards.

    A $60M stake isn’t really very involved?

I will say this: The fact that they’re getting back in the game with a bunch more cash (presumably) may speak to their liquidity. Or maybe they’re pushing a lot of their chips back into the game.

They're raising money to basically buy out a bunch of people out.  They'll probably just flip the assets back to big companies for profit if i had to guess.

$300 million is not chump change, but compared to the $4 billion fortune when they largely got out of it, it's not a big deal.  The Pegula's are investing enough for a 20% stake.

IMO, they are not really very involved in the industry.  They are looking to make a few quick bucks, which is what business people do.  I will agree that while not very active, they are closely linked and have kept up good contacts in the oil and gas industry.

Poor ol' Yuri's head must be spinning.

I thought the 300 million was investor money.  They're basically using other peoples money (and some of their own) to acquire land and assets that they'll move later.  Buy for a dollar, sell for 2.

I’m gonna be buying some oil and energy stocks soon.

I bought a couple stocks on the downturn a couple months ago. Today, I’m glad I did.

Yeah, i thought the same with airline stock when it tanked.  But all it takes is to invest in the one that goes belly up and all your money goes to hell - so i was a tad nervous.

....uhhh, I mean, the point.  The blackouts are there to protect the local cable companies.  They're urging you to subscribe to MSG.

Its an extra like 40 dollars a month, and provides literally 0 other content for me.  I took to streaming on my ipad - that way i can have something else on TV when i inevitably get pissed off.

Scandella: In 2017-18 he was fine.  In 2018-19 he was hot garbage.  In 2019-20 he was fine.  He deserved the criticism for 2018-19.

He definitely struggled on the PK in 2019 though.  RK seemed to primarily use risto/mccabe there to... not great success.  But whoever the other pair was always seemed to be looking around wondering how they scored.

Special teams as a whole were unacceptably bad. PP wasn’t as bad as the PK but should have been much better considering the unit we can send out there. The special teams, and the occasional perceived mis-usage of players are my two biggest concerns with Krueger going forward.

Agree on the 2LD, can’t see it being Joki or Montour with a handedness handicap.

PP was pretty bad considering how little PP2 did.

To be fair this team's shot suppression was really good. I think they lacked the offense and goal-tending.

I just felt like when teams had power plays, they won faceoffs and maintained the zone.  If buf got it out, they brought it right back in no problem.
