  1. Not my words. This was directly from Mr. Bettman. No cap adjustment next season.
  2. Not sure what this means and why everyone here talks in poems. I was just trying inform people what could potentially come. Believe me, I don't have a dog in this fight anymore..not for a long time
  3. Again the man in the video states that it is highly depends upon how fans rally around the teams post COVID, even if the product isn't as good as it could be. Hopefully people recognize that not supporting their sports team could potentially mean there's no more hockey in the "RED" locations. Remember the cap is NOT changing
  4. Not even close to being eligible, probably better that the money goes to people that need it
  5. Understood. I guess the question is whether the people impacted more are the one's who couldn't attend the games to begin with, or people who are actually attending the games.
  6. To what level of income are you referring to that might potentially be locked out from attending sports who currently are?
  7. Ultimately I think it's going to be highly dependent on how the Buffalo (and other at risk teams) fans rally around the team when they play next, regardless of how good the on-ice product is
  8. Hi everyone, Came across an interesting piece of analysis the other day. Obviously, this is not scientific (and for the most part a lay opinion) but an interesting conversation here. Apparently, there are several small market teams that are operating at a loss or little profit. For example, Florida is operating at -21 million dollar loss. Interestingly, Buffalo is operating at a worrisome 2 million dollar profit. The argument is essentially that if there's no alterations in the salary cap, in conjunction with lack of overall interest upon COVID return, teams including the Sabres could ultimately see their demise. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think this is overblown or something that could be a reality?
  9. I think you can still starting bringing people back in that timeframe, quarantine them for 14 day, have them get tested, and bring them to a central location to start playing, preferably in a state that has looser restrictions (N. Dakota). This is with continued weakly testing. May/June would be the bring back month, and July/August teams could resume. The biggest issues is ensuring everyone stays put in that location for a significant bit of time. Pretty sure there's some less than desirable personalities in organizations, you would have to find way to control them
  10. Noted. Good news is that it will only be a matter of time before league starts up again (may). US is already releasing plans for reopening. Not an expect, but looks like you just have to follow some basic precautions for a bit, then you go through phases. My prediction is that teams are going to start gearing up very shortly. Only thing is that we have to find a publicly acceptable way to obtain a large amount of tests for everyone that is involved in restarting (players, bosses, cleaning crews etc.)
  11. Overall, I think any donation should be appreciated. We all need to stand in solidarity in these times, whether we're wealthy or less fortunate. As a society, if we keep playing the blame game we won't get anywhere. Thanks for posting this. I think this might put things into perspective for people.
  12. There are certain organizations that actually get paid more for their services if they do a good job. For example, some healthcare plans for large groups/organization run by quality control, meaning the better quality care they give, they get bonuses. Don't know if you're referring to a system like that?
  13. Again I think all life matters, regardless of your wealth status. From my understanding they're donation was specific to COVID19. You never know what other places they're donating to. You might be very well right that donation could of been a tad more. I just think it sets a bad message if we lament people for donating, even if it may be not a lot in retrospect by our definition. Like I said before, would you yell at a neurosurogen that makes millions for not donating enough?
  14. I don't even know what you're trying to say. Let's just say in my line of work, we don't talk like tis
  15. I guess we're in different camps here, but I tend to like to treat people with respect. I think what people don't realize is that lamenting people who have some wealth isn't the way to go. I mean, would you get mad at a neurosurgeon for making a million dollars a year? Would you tell him that donation is a requirement?
  16. Only reason why I bring it up is because if people yell at others for donating, they'll never donate again.
  17. Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not ha ha. In fairness, how much money did everyone here donate? Smh at all the people on instagram and reddit. But I digress
  18. More good news everyone. The players in the Edmonton Oilers organization have come together and allotted $100,000 to the COVID19 crisis. It's nice to people coming together, regardless of economic background, and pitching in to help others! Bravo to them!
  19. Wasn't for me, but define what you mean by wealth. 100,000, 500,000, 750,000, 2 million per year? 5 million per year? 10 million per year? I think people would understand your argument more if you did this. You can't just say all wealthy people are bad. If you did that you'd be insulting nearly NHL/NFL/NBA/MLB player, some lawyers, some doctors. And that's not fair. Some people do good things with their money
  20. Seems like there's so much class conflict being pushed in this thread. On a lighter note, some good news for everyone, Jeff Skinner is donating 52k to help out Buffalo! Remember we're all in this together regardless of our walk of life.
  21. No not directly. I'm just thinking the league will consider price raises on gamecenter and other modalities to make up for the lack of in door revenue. Can stations renegotiate contracts with the league? At some point, and I don't know when, wouldn't they lose more money trying to hold the playoffs for 1/20 of the profit, rather than just waiting till next year.
  22. Question for all. Obviously first responders and yourselves come first, but how much of a price hike (gamecenter etc.) would you willing to accept to watch NHL games and help the league and players say not only a float but also competitive?
