  1. Dahlin high numbers in hits, blocks, points. The NHL should consider everything when passing out Norris Trophies.
  2. Good evening Teammates, Punch checking in. Big game tonight. They need to win tonight to stay mathematically involved. Muscle Weight
  3. Donny is smart and creative. Looking at the list of successful coaches that never played in the NHL, they are all extremely demanding hard *****. So far Donny is not. I for one think that DG looks to be maxed out as a coach for this team. DG has to demand more and make them pay when they don't play right. Most players want that and they thrive on the higher expectations. He will be given another year so we are going to see.
  4. Mitts is playing for Bednar, who also never played in the NHL either, and he had the same amount of AHL coaching experience as Meatballs. There are many great coaches that never played in the NHL. Ken Hitchcock's team beat Lindy Ruff's team for the Cup. Hitchcock never played past youth hockey leagues, never even at Juniors level. Ruff played 691 NHL games. I am not saying Meatballs is a good NHL coach, I am saying your reasoning is wrong and there are numerous examples to prove it.
  5. It all comes down to expectations that are set at the top. Pegula set them and flowed them down. Pegula put Kevyn under the EEE policies when he gave him the job. Adams in turn has sold this slow rebuild concept. They have operated under the cap for years now. Kevyn sold Pegula on this rebuild; a rebuild from within using your own drafted players. Unless he brings in several proven players in their prime this coming off season, we will continue to see more prospects get their chances in the NHL next season. This can only work if UPL is real, and the Core (Thompson, Cozens, Dahlin, and Power) rebounds and plays much better, plus a few more kids have to break out. Everything has to line up. Including no big injuries. Kevyn said the biggest surprise he had when he took the job was not getting buy in from players. So Eichel, Reinhart, Risto, Montour and Ulmark all got to leave. Hence, the "we only want people who want to be here" mantra. This bought Adams even more time with Pegula. Pegula is now paying a new Core (Thompson, Dahlin, Power, Cozens, and even Muel). Are they better players than the old one? Mitts was traded because we have a surplus of young forwards that he wants to look at. Mitts wanted to be here, but ask him again after the playoffs and I think he will say that the trade was the best thing that ever happened to him. (Same as ROR, Eichel, Ulmark, Reinhart, Risto, Montour ...) Bottom line is both Adams and DG are safe because Terry's expectations are what drove this plan. When I complain about Adams I should redirect some of it at Pegula.
  6. Granato was an AHL HC for 6 years. He had 7 years of NHL experience, 3+ as HC.
  7. When you are the youngest team every year, growing older might imply getting better. If next year they bring in no new veterans, let Z and VO go, replace them with prospects, then the ‘we are young excuse’ is still there.
  8. There is nothing in here that is wrong. I would add that he blew the off season and the pre season, which caused it all. The bell for round 5 is coming.
  9. How long before Byram slows down to country club levels in Sabreland? Its already happening.
  10. Thompson can be a 1C. Cozens can be a 2C. We need to get a whole lot better at 3C and 4C. They have the assets to add another 2C and push Cozens to 3C. We have Krebs, Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, and Östlund in the system at various stages of readiness. Maybe a few of these kids are better wingers in NHL? If Adams says once again that they want to win now than he needs to move some of them, or his #1 pick in 2024, for proven NHL talent and hopefully develop of few that remain.
  11. I think Dahlin is at the same level as Hughes. Last night showed it.
  12. Look at the players recently drafted. Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Östlund - none of them meet that description. The only way we get that is trades and/or UFAs.
  13. Agree with you on the comment related to the top players. There is no way to make up for the 70+ goal reduction in the top 4 from last year. The players named by @CTJoe are not the reason the team slipped this season, but they are all replaceable. Krebs, Jost, Robinson, Bryson, Clifford, Oloffson are precisely were the upgrades need to be. I will throw in Joker too. Krebs - is not an ideal starting 4C, and he is not good enough to be the starting 3C at this point. This needs to be addressed in the offseason and they need to bring in NHL level competition. We need better centers if we are going to jump to playoff caliber. Unfortunately, Adams may just stick with his young prospects and do the "no blockers" thing. Next season could be another extended tryout for Krebs, Savioe, Kulich, Rosen and even Östlund. Jost is a AHL/NHL tweener, a call up spare forward and not a viable replacement for Okposo or Mitts. Robinson is an AHL/NHL tweener - we need a guy like him, but he is upgradeable. Get a guy with his energy, but better hands, and is willing to drop'em when needed. That is what a 4th line winger has to do. Bryson is a 7/8 defenseman and too small, but since he cleared waivers this season he can be a call up defender #8. We have no bangers on D accept Clifton and occasionally Dahlin. Our defense does not have enough physical presence with the exception of Clifton. Clifford is meant to be Clifton, and he does not belong on this list. He played his role as a 5/6/7 middle weight banger quite well. He makes some errors now and then, but he is the only physical player back there even though he is on the smaller side. He is tough, we need more tough, not less. VO - he will be gone, it time to say good bye. Replace him with a 2 way forward with snarl. Joker is a poor mans Dahlin/Byram/Power. He and Muel do not bring enough physical play. Muel is on contract and has more size and more upside, maybe with the right coach he takes the next step and uses his size more. Joker can be a good player, but we need something else - a big, strong, physical presence back there. Joker is expendable to trade IMO. Playoffs are not going to happen. I admire the effort this past month but it is going to be too little and too late. Adams is entering his 5th off season. His 4th one is proving to be unsuccessful, injuries aside, he did very little to improve the team last off season and he over rates his prospects. Let's hope he and DG learned something and they do better this of season.
  14. I don’t have the game on TV where I’m staying. Sounds bad so far
