  1. i rarely think the media does a good job reporting. i think generally they give wild stories or fear mongering stories for the "clicks". i get it, they need to get paid.

however, i think this might be the best reporting i have read on covid in a long time. they are laying out facts and not some political rant that says my side is right and yours is wrong. not you need to do this or the world will end....

i actually find it refreshing to see a story on information that looks well researched and not a bunch of rando's giving their opinions in a bunch of twitter feeds pretending to be facts.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/delta-variant-breakthrough-infections-americans-073003124.html

not related to this, i heard on the radio yesterday there was a poll done in nj between vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

of the unvaccinated, there was like 50% thought it was media hoopla/propaganda, and only 20% or so thought it was because there was too many people unvaccinated.

of the vaccinated, there was 75+% thought it was because of the unvaccinated

i dont remember the exact numbers, but it was close to these

As per the CDC, of the more than 18,000 Americans who died of covid in May, only 150 were vaxed. That’s 0.8 percent.

In VA, Jan. 21 - July 9, 2,471 died of covid; 18 vaxed, 0.7 percent.

In CA, Jan. 1 - June 30, 37,180 died of covid; 71 vaxed— 0.2 percent.

if only there was some magical liquid that would stop this virus...oh yeah

  3. I just read that the study the CDC used to reinstate the new mask rule was on a study done in india that failed peer review. Additionally the study was done with the AstraZenica vaccine, which is not even allowed in the USA. It is posted by a US Senator, so this could be real or fake. at this point its impossible to tell.

If this is true, there is something really fishy going on.

Either way, im not going back to wearing a mask to protect people that wont get the vaccine. if a store requires it, i wont go in.  Amazon has everything i need

Arizona signed Carter Hutton. The Tank is real. No one will out tank the Coyotes this season.😀

I cant believe any non tanking team would sign him.

They will win less than the Sabres, which  i think will be no more than 20 wins

Getting my 2nd pfizer tomorrow at noon.

Talk with my manager went like this.

me:  Might be sick tomorrow, getting 2dn shot
her: when you getting shot ?
    me: at 12h50
her: oh no worries takes half a day to get sick
    me: I got nightshift ....
    her: big eyeroll 😄

it was almost 24 hours before i felt sick after my second, and i was out for 3 days after

  6. i was talking with my wife. her company went back to requiring masks. my wife has been vaccinated for months.

its so stupid. people in other countries would kill for the vaccine, and we have people that wont get it for whatever reason.

Just trying to answer the question posed as to why. I think the reasoning is the virus continues to spread and mutate due to unvaccinated population, and not wearing a mask when indoors can aid in transmission, whether you are vaccinated or not. Not telling anyone what to do.

i get you. i wasnt trying to give you grief, sorry if it seemed like it.   im just so sick of the nonsense with covid. i keep reading that even with delta, the vaccine protection from getting sick is good. thats good enough for me.

from everything i have been reading on different forums, in general, people who are vaccinated are genuinely tired of unvaccinated people causing this grief. i know i am. in nj there are like 700 cases and the story i read was that 99.92% were unvaccinated. im not going back to a mask.   i will literally order everything online and just not go into stores if they require masks again.  doordash can bring my food, i dont need no stinking restaurants either

If I understand it correctly, being vaccinated doesn't prevent me from getting/spreading the virus. It protects me against serious illness or death if I get the virus. If I still live in a population center that is 50% unvaccinated, this would be the reasoning for continuing to wear a mask while in indoor public places. I may have enough antibodies to prevent serious illness to my own person, but I can still contract the virus and transmit to others. This will result in it continuing to spread an mutate.

so if i get vaccinated like i am "supposed to do", im now supposed to continue to wear one for the people that havent done what they are supposed to do. if it was still hard to get vaccinated, i would agree 100%. The government has resorted to bribing people to get it, and they still dont. at this point, its their own fault if they get covid.

again, i hate to put it like that, but enough is enough. i lived for over year in practically complete isolation, only going out when absolutely required...as i was supposed to. millions of people have gotten the vaccine, and yet i keep hearing, its not approved, we dont know long term side effects, etc. this is the largest test of any medical trial in history.

also, as i mentioned previously, in nj masks were required the entire time, and yet nj had one of the highest rates of transmission of any state. i dont think these cheapo masks do anything.

enough of this nonsense of not getting the vaccine

Think of the vaccine as a seatbelt and you're driving through a dangerous stretch of highway.    In most cases the seatbelt will save your life if you have an accident.

Think of a mask as a helmet.   Now why would I need a helmet if I'm wearing a seatbelt?  For most wearing a seatbelt is enough, but there's still a slim chance you may sustain a fatal head injury.

i think of it more like wearing suspenders when you have a belt on. you shouldnt need both.

  10. I keep reading today that the cdc is backing up on their mask recommendations.

I keep reading that in places that dont have enough vaccinated people they are recommending people wear masks even if you are vaccinated. They are recommending that people get vaccinated to stop this from spreading

My question is... Do vaccines work or dont they? If they work, why wear a mask. If you need to wear a mask even if you have the vaccine, what good is the vaccine. If the vaccine works, we shouldn't need to go back to masks again.

As long as they keep doing this flip flop ***** people aren't going to fully trust the vaccine.

i read just yesterday that there was a study that the vaccine is working so well in nj, that 99.92% of these new recent cases are unvaccinated people. If you dont have the vaccine by now, its your own fault if you get covid

I hate to put it like that, but im not going backwards because people wont get the shot. Enough already with the masks. In nj they were required the entire time for covid and we had ridiculous amounts of cases. Theses 1 dollar paper masks clearly don't help enough, why bother mandating,  so you can look like your trying.

Rossi alone (+) is not enough for me. Throw in Boldy and I’ll feel a bit better

Zegras alone (+) is but it seems like the Anaheim rumors have cooled a bit.

I’m not knocking Rossi but Zegras is just more of a proven player (obviously) at this point. I would like a serviceable 1a or 1b coming back in whatever trade we do make.

Give us Rossi and Kaapo (+), keep Boldy.

It doesn't make sense for just rossi. They passed over him.

The sabres need at least 1 nhl active player with a few years experience.

They should not keep trading top line players for a possibility of nothing. I mean look what they got so far for risto and sam.  0 players guaranteed to be in the nhl. Not counting the defense guy from philly, i suspect he wont last

    This feels different.

These trades needed to be made, as it appears that these guys were very disgruntled, probably rightfully so.

I have to believe that the Sabres learned their lesson the last time.

The Sabres will be bad this coming season.  There is no need to tank to get a top pick.

at my job we had an entire department that was disgruntled, and they basically gave up trying. they got let go and they brought in all new people to fix the issue. when i asked why they didnt have overlap to train, they said the bad rubs off onto the good. it was better to just start over. i know its not exactly the same, but close enough. by the way it worked. in the past they had one disgruntled train the next guy and he taught him the bad habits.

i think you are absolutely right
