I’m not coming back for the third.
Looks like another year of suffering…I mean ‘development.’
No no, DG is just teaching them defense this year. Nevermind he doesn't know how, and they forgot how to play offense in the process

OK, I think we're due for some puck luck

Problem with UPL slow lateral movement is, when he tries to be fast, he crouches and leaves top part of the net open.
He has trouble controlling his big body

They did. He wouldn’t shoot
I mean, move the puck around and then feed him, not pass him the puck when that guy is literally attached to his hip

when that guy lost his stick, should they have just done everything to get Olofsson the one-timer?~!

Damn… Gotta stop that UPL…
He made himself surprisingly small on that

Uncharacteristic?

Honest question: if UPL's ceiling is Robin Lehner-level, do we hold onto him as a backup?

Levi is gifted athletically.
He needs to work on positioning and rebound control.
Far too often he gets caught too deep in his net, or over persues the puck taking him out of position.
Teams are starting to pick up on this. We saw it in the Washington game and he'll continue to get exploited until he adjusts.
Playing once a week will stunt his development. He needs to be "the guy" down in Roch where he'll progress much faster.
He should be "the guy" in blue & gold. He's our best. He will learn more quickly up here, all while giving the Sabres the best chance to win.
-
Two things:
1. Levi is far and away the most gifted/ talented goalie the Sabres have in their system
2. Most on this forum (including some members who, otherwise, contribute invaluably) do not understand how to evaluate the goaltender position in any depth

Cozens just awful. Terrible shot selection. Then slow as hell and Levi plays the pass instead of the shot. Game over. Pathetic.
I'm pissed. This team choked that game away. I'm logging off. That was ***** garbage.
Wrong about Levi. Power was not in position to play the pass

Cozens was out of gas, as they all were. They used it all trying to score. Hence a 2 on 1 and Levi blew it. Power correctly took away the pass. Levi incorrectly did not play the shooter and was out of position and late. A rookie in the NHL.
Wrong about Power. Watch the reply. He actually overcommitted towards Strome right before he was about to shoot, leaving Milano open, and Levi was correctly taking him into account.

Great rebound control by Levi!!!!!!

gotta stop with the penalties... that one was dumb
It looked like frustration out of the Leafs hooking, holding, interfering, etc., immediately beforehand, and the refs refusing to call any of it.

Tuch is possibly the most irrelevant core player.
Not seeing a big improvement from last year in Power.
Cozens needs Quinn back.
TT does more toe dragging than scoring.
Clifton is a fail.
UPL is so bad that people cling to single game moments of positivity as proof he is not bad.
PP sucks. The bumper is stupid.
Krebs is looking like he will be in Europe soon.
KO skates like he’s using a Walker.
Dahlin is awesome.
Mitts is becoming the number one center.
I'm more optimistic in some regards, but...
We need to move on from UPL. Do we have any other G prospects in our system? Give someone else a chance; UPL is fundamentally flawed

I rewatched highlights from the game. The alarming elements of UPL's game that I've mentioned noticing before (reflexes, balance, body control, recovery) all seemed to be vastly improved. He is still young enough that he could figure these things out. I'm sure working next to Levi in camp lit a fire under him, and showed him first-hand what a freakishly naturally talented goaltender looks like, up close.
Another test will be how he can handles breakaways/shootouts. As I said before, I'd be thrilled if he completely overcomes my expectations of him.

win the next one, back to .500. Not great but certainly not a disaster of a start to the season
It's almost as if you can't know the trajectory of an entire season (or a particular player) based off of a handful of games.
Call me crazy...

6K played a pretty good game. I've been saying it all summer, and I'll say it again, he'll get over thirty games and have a winning record. Levi and 6K will be our goalies for the next few years.

I don't think UPL has NHL-level reflexes or body control/balance. I will happily be proved wrong.

If he could look like that more regularly, I'd be shocked, but I would welcome that development

He's having a good game. I haven't changed my mind on him, though.

looked like a knee injury
I tore my ACL a month ago (on the ice), so I really flinched at that replay

No one is going to give UPL any credit. Tough room.
He's big, and his positioning has been good. If we play fantastic defense, we'll be OK.
If he's one-on-one with their shooters, he'll get lit up, though.
