Who's better: RoR
Who would I be more keen on trading: RoR
-
No, that is definitely not something I would recommend. I am just saying that build would not work for us as we do not have excellent goaltending. Far from it actually. We shouldn't be unless there are issues we don't know about.
Are you recommending trading ROR or Risto for a goaltender? I hope not.
-
Because we don't have excellent goaltending. So why did the Caps win this Cup?
They were strong down the middle, they were tough on defense, and had excellent goaltending.
So where are we? We are getting strong down the middle and getting better on defense. So why are we even considering trading ROR and/or Risto?

Loki? The two strongest Avengers, I like it a lot.

Alright, I see it now, my bad. Good work, carry on.No I don't. My calculation of the cap room only has Ullmark in it at $750K.
-
I realize that, but if we don't keep him, he doesn't count against the cap. You have us keeping him at 4 million, and still needing another goalie. If we keep him I don't see us getting some one else, and if we don't keep him we would have 4 million to spend elsewhere. We have not tendered Lehner and I don't expect us to do so. The deadline to tender a qualifying offer is June 29th I believe.
Even if we do tender Lehner, that is no guarantee that he'll be a Sabre next season. He has arbitration rights and if he goes to arbitration, the Sabres can walk away from the deal. Also his rights can be traded to another club before or after a qualifying offer is made. As I said before, I don't think he'll be a Sabre next season which is why I haven't added him to the roster. The only RFA I added to the roster was Reinhart because he is essential to the team going forward.
-
I realize that, but I wonder why you said we needed another goalie if we had Ullmark and done a tender for Lehner. That's already 2 keepers on the roster. Unless you were planning on sending Ulmark back to Rochester. We are not obligated to give Lehner or any other RFA a qualifying offer. I listed the amount as a reference for each RFA. In fact, I don't believe we'll make an offer to Lehner because he has arbitration rights and I doubt Jbot wants to go through that with him. On another thread someone suggested making him a 1 yr offer, but lower then the $4 mill qualifying offer and see if he'll agree.

Thanks for working all of this out. Just one question: do we really need to have a qualifying offer for Lehner and sign a goalie?
-
If we get Tavares, RoR is going to be traded. However the chances of that happening are slim so I voted for him to stay.
-
I would almost agree with you completely if not for goalie. That is an extremely week position for us in this scenario.Slotting players that we have - where they should realistically be, should we hope to contend for the playoffs - to my mind looks something like:
Derp - Eichel - Derp
Smith - O’Reilly - Reinhart
Wilson - Mittelstadt - Okposo
Girgensons - Rodrigues - Baptiste
Scandella - Ristolainen
McCabe - Dahlin
Guhle - Bogosian
Ullmark
Derp

I’m stretching it with Smith, who is a fair bit of a question mark, and long term we’d want better wingers for Casey, but I think in a magical universe where we are able to add those three Derps to the roster, that team could fight for a playoff spot. At least I feel those guys currently listed are properly slotted (ok, Risto should be second pair, but we know he’s only a placeholder on the top pair till Dahlin is ready).
I think it’s reasonable likely Botterill can find a capable goaltender to share time with Ullmark. Even a LW for Eichel seems within the range of possibility with guys like Perron on the market. Finding two wingers to play on the top line this offseason seems very unlikely.
The good news is, those winger sports are a lot easier to fill than a top pair D spot (yay lottery), and there are internal candidates like Olofsson who could eventually fit the bill. In my dream roster, Davidsson grows into that roll too, I really like him as a prospect.
With Pilut (hopefully) and Nelson adding D depth, to go along with our very good centre depth, it’s really looking like LW is the BIGGEST area in need of attention.

I do a lot of running and I finally got my mile time back under 5 minutes. Hoping to get my two mile time down to the ten twenties

Trade RoR for an emerging top 4 D. Sign Johhny T and be much better off for it.

PEDs...????

Hey, I read a lot, just don't post all that much. Don't give me those blinking eyes.Another 1 today ...
Oh wait, I just realized I actually didn't put in my birthday. Carry on.

Nelson is back, so factor that in.
-
That's a good contract for us I would say.
-
Guys you forget that I said player. Casey counts as a deity.
-
Who is the Franchise player now? Dahlin or Eichel?

I actually think that these percenta are faulty. They are true, but if we don't get number 1, then the chances for 2 and 3 go up. The percent for not picking number 4 should be lower I think.49.4% for top 3 to be super specific.
1 - 18.5%
2 - 16.5%
3 - 14.4%
4 - 50.6%
No, at 2 we take svechnikov and 3 zadina. Both are high end wingers we desperately need. Svechnikov has 44g in 48 total games this year. Zadina is a bit more 2 way but also is a sniper.

Inconceivable!Vasilevsky looked Lehner bad on the two goals though.

I've been playing Euchre since I was three.
(Sorry, late to the discussion)

They just traded a goalie to the predator
What Would It Take To Trade First Overall?
