  1. Another fun idea...

    Three way trade..

Reinhart, Risto and #32 to Edmonton

Edmonton sends RNH and #10 to Montreal

Edmonton sends Klefbom and Montoya to Buffalo

Montreal sends #3 and Gallagher to Buffalo

How it shakes up for each team-

Montreal trades #3 and Gallagher for RNH and #10

Edmonton trades RNH, Klefbom, Montoya and #10 for Reinhart, Risto #32

Buffalo trades Reinhart, Risto and #32 for Gallagher, Klefbom, Montoya and #3

  2. no. You don't start a thread with title indicating the Sabres have actually made a trade. Posting stuff in here is fine but starting a thread "Trade Alert! Sabres have traded" is not okay unless an actual trade has occurred or is about to happen.

You want to do this in a trade speculation thread, no worries at all.

Its called click bait...don't you know how the internet works...

  3. I reckon so. But who?

p.s. What the hell was sweetlou doing with that trade thread?!

Guys just trying to have fun...We are all trying to predict scenarios that may happen.  Just playing arm chair GM and putting ideas out there to see what type of response I get from other Sabres fans.  Obviously I have no inside track or rumors.  Have fun on the boards and try not to be so uptight!!!!

  4. With Edmonton desperate for a top tier defenseman could we get RNH and #10 for Risto and Nylander.

Montreal wants a center and I don't want to trade ROR within the division so...then flip RNH, Larsson and #10 to Montreal for #3 and Gallagher.

Then Reinhart and to Calgary for Dougie Hamilton.

ROR, Bealieu and Bogo to St. Louis for Parayko and Steen.

Sabres add Gallagher, Hamilton, Parayko, Steen and #3. (Tkachuk)

Sabres move Reinhart, Risto, Bogo, ROR, Bealieu and Nylander.

    New lineup-

    Steen-Eichel- Gallagher

    Tkachuk- UFA (Stastny)- Okposo

    Wilson- Mittelstadt- Baptiste

    Girgensons- ERod- Bailey

    Parayko- Hamilton

    Scandella- Dahlin

    McCabe- Nelson

  5. I want to address this because IMO this is faulty logic.  It's not all about can we win now, or in the next 3 years.  Even if we are 3 years out, you still need someone in the role ROR occupies.  You still need someone to teach the next in line to be that guy.  You still need the vet to play the hard minutes while the kids develop.  You can't keep pushing off a certain player or role because the team isn't quite there yet.  The team needs to learn the things ROR does.  The role still needs to be filled.

Yes but in 3-5 years you have Eichel and Mittelstadt anchoring your top two line, ala Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin, and you put your 3-4 center as defensive guys.  Also in 3-5 years you hope Eichel and Mittelstadt have matured and grown in the defensive game.

  6. I think Reinhart's ceiling could be higher as far as points, but I agree that ROR plays tougher minutes and is better defensively.  If you believe that the Sabres are 3-5 years from contending you move ROR for a 22-24 year old who is still RFA eligible, who will be here in 3-5 years.  If you think you can win in the next three years you keep ROR to bolster your center position.

Also has anyone discussed the how Jack would react if they were to trade Reinhart.

If the right pieces were coming back I would even trade both in different trades.

Hearing Reinhart to Calgary for Dougie Hamilton??

Could then turn around and trade Risto for young winger and draft pick,  example to Detroit or Vancouver...

Could you then move ROR to say Carolina for Skinner and Rask...

  7. So looking at some of the teams in the top of the draft, would any be willing to part with their pick for ROR?  Montreal is seemed to be actively pursuing ROR, would Arizona want a young vet like ROR since they have so may young players? Vancouver and Rangers are two other teams looking for help down the middle.

Could a team make a trade with Buffalo after July 1st with a pick they acquired at draft with whom they selected a player Buffalo wanted?

Would Montreal at 3 trade Lenkonen, Danault, and Tkachuk for ROR and Nylander?

Would Arizona at 5 trade Domi and Tkachuk for ROR?

  8. As much as I like ROR I think a shake up is coming. Carolina looks to me the team who would also be looking to shake things up with new ownership.

How about another three way trade with Ottawa and Carolina.

Ottawa sends Carolina Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan.

Carolina sends Ottawa Justin Faulk, Noah Hanifin and conditional pick, (pick is 2020 3rd rd unless Erik Karlsson resigns then it becomes 2020 1st rd.)

Buffalo sends Ottawa Nylander, and Bogo.

Carolina sends Buffalo Victor Rask and Jordan Stall .

Buffalo sends Carolina ROR, and rights to Robin Lehner.

    Ottawa sends Buffalo Cody Cici.

So how it breaks down for each team.

    1.  Ottawa trades Erik Karlsson, Bobby Ryan and Cody Cici and receives Justin Faulk, Alex Nylander, Bogo, Noah Hanifin and 2020 conditional pick.

Ottawa gets something in return for potential UFA Karlsson. Faulk gives them someone with stability right away and Hanifin is the prospect.  Bobby Ryan and Bogo just exchange of bad contracts who have potential when healthy. Nylander and 2020 pick is what makes Ottawa make this trade.

    2.   Carolina trades Jordan Stall, Victor Rask, Justin Faulk, Noah Hanifin and conditional 2020 pick and receives ROR, Erik Karlson, Robin Lehner and Bobby Ryan.

Landing the two big fish in the trade, Erik Karlsson and ROR, Carolina is willing to take on Bobby Ryan's contract and give up the potential 1st rd pick.  With the abundance of young players and plenty of salary cap, Carolina takes on some big contracts to make a splash. Lehner is given a second chance to split time with Scott Darling.

    3.   Buffalo trades ROR, Alexander Nylander, and Bogo and receives Cici, Rask and Stall.

Buffalo is able to get a solid return for ROR in Stall and Rask.  Cici gives Buffalo stability on right side of third pairing D, and able to dump Bogo's contract as well.

Buffalo's other moves in the off season.

Sign goalie Jonathan Bernier to 2 yr 7 million contract. AAV 3.5 million

Sign David Perron to 2 yr 8 million contract. AAV 4 million

Trade Larsson and 2019 2nd rd pick to Pittsburgh for Bryan Rust.

    Rask, Eichel, Reinhart

    Perron, Stall, Baptiste

    Rust, Mittelstadt, Okposo

    Girgensons, ERod, Bailey

    McCabe ,Risto

    Scandella, Dahlin

    Guhle, Cici

    Bernier

    Ullmark

  9. Usually you pair one of these with a Reinhart-for-Matthews type trade that makes the overall thing balance out. Did you forget it this time? :P

Trying to under compensate a trade since everyone thinks I over value the Sabres players.

Main purpose of any trade this off season would be to trade older good assets ( ROR, Okposo, or Bogo) with higher cap hits to gain younger players with potential who may not be as highly ranked right now.

  10. Would this line up be good enough?? Where else besides goaltender and LW do we need help??

    LW- Eichel- Okposo

    Mittelstadt- ROR- Reinhart

    Wilson- ERod- Baptiste

    LW- Larsson-  Bailey

    Pressbox- Pommers, Girgensons

In Rochester- Olofsson, Malone, Nylander, O' Reagan

    Juniors- Pu

    Guhle- Risto

    Scandella- Dahlin

    McCabe- Bogo

    Pressbox- Pilut, Nelson

    Ullmark

    ???

Of course I think we will see at least one trade.  Who out there fills the needs the Sabres need??  UFA's or trade

  11. Unless moved in an off season trade I expect both Bailey and Baptiste to be in Buffalo all year.  I think they need to be slotted on lines that fit their style of play.

Bailey- power forward with speed.  Has decent hands but is inconsistent at putting puck in net.  I would play him on the RW fourth line and PK.  If he gives you 10g -10a =20 points I would be happy.

Baptiste- I think he has great speed and hands and if given the opportunity could really produce in the NHL.  I would play him on the 2nd or 3rd line.  If given the opportunity I think he could be a 20 goal scorer.  Realistic goal for this year. 15g- 15a= 30 points.

Fasching- I believe he may be included in a trade this off season to give him a new environment and fresh start. Return won't be great just an extra piece included in trade.

  12. Draisaitl might be the most over paid player in the league (ok there are better examples).  But $8.5 mil per for the next 100 years for a nice player who's stats were inflated playing with McDavid?  No thanks.

watch the highlights...McDavid had some pretty passes to set up Draisaitl, but he created on his own and set up McDavid for just as many.  Also last year he didn't play with Mcavid and still put up big numbers.

  13. Girgensons, Larsson, and Bogo have little to no trade value at all, I doubt they can be used in any trade scenario.  Finding fringe bottom 6 players isn't too difficult, those teams are better off just grooming their own draft picks for bottom 6 roles as opposed to giving up better assets to trade for them.

Draisaitl is an interesting case, is he really that good, or is he benefiting from having McDavid around? Could be he as successful here as in Edmonton?  i was hoping for him that year instead of Reinhart

The Girgensons and Larsson trades are more about the other teams getting a roster player and pick for an asset they can't keep.

Bogo I think if healthy could fit in nicely with Edmonton and is also more of a salary dump for Buffalo to include in ROR trade.

Draisaitl I think would great as a second line center behind Eichel.

I included Baptiste in that trade because of his connection to playing on a line with McDavid in Erie.

I would really like to see Baptiste get a chance to play with Eichel.  I think he has the speed and hands to be a solid 20 goal scorer if given the opportunity.

  14. I like your though but I don't think there's a hope in hell you're getting JT Miller for Girgs and a second.

Over the last 3 years Miller has scored more than 20 goals each season.  He has more than 55 points in each of his last two years.

Zemgus has a grand total of 7 goals each of the last 3 seasons and less than 20 points in each.  A second does not come close to pushing that deal over the edge IMO.  In the second scenario your only adding a 4th?  No way.

Tampa will have to shed salary in the way of losing an RFA they can't resign or trading a player.

They have RFA's Kucherov and Point after next year and UFA Gourde all to sign.  If they do extend JT Miller they will be very hard pressed to sign all three of these guys next year.

  15. I think JBot is definitely going to make a push for JT.  I think that is why they held off on giving Eichel the "C" as well.  If they bring in JT he becomes the captain and mentor for Eichel.  Something Buffalo was hoping ROR would be.  JT could sign for more with the Islanders but getting $11mil for seven years some where else might be enticing.

I had never thought about how his uncle spent 20 years in Buffalo, but it could influence him.

ROR would have to be traded for a young quality winger.

My off season goal if I was GM of Buffalo.

    Option 1-

Sign Tavares to 11 million over 7 years.

Sign Reinhart to bridge deal for 4.5 million for 3 years.

Sign Goalie Jonathan Bernier for 3.5million for 2 years.

Trade ROR and Bogo to Arizona for Max Domi and 2019 2nd rd pick.

Trade Girgensons, and 2019 2nd rd pick for JT Miller.

    Line up-

    Mittelstadt- Tavares- Okposo

    Domi- Eichel- Reinhart

    Wilson- JT Miller- Pomminstein

    Baptiste- ERod- Bailey

    Guhle- Risto

    Scandella- Dahlin

    McCabe- Nelson

    Bernier

    Ullmark

    OR

    Option 2-

    Can't sign Tavares

Trade ROR, McCabe, and Baptiste to Edmonton for Draisaitl and Klefbom.

Sign Reinhart to bridge deal for 4.5 million for 3 years.

Trade Larsson and 2019 2nd rd pick to Washington for Grubauer.

Trade Girgensons, and 2018 4th rd pick for JT Miller.

    Line up-

    Mittelstadt- Eichel- Okposo
    JT Miller- Draisaitl- Reinhart
    Wilson- ERod- Pomminstein
    CJ Smith- Malone- Bailey

    Scandella- Risto
    Klefbom- Dahlin
    Guhle- Nelson

    Grubauer
    Ullmark
