Any interest in the following UFA's who were not qualified?
Fischer, McCloud, Puljujarvi, Comtois, White, Benoit, or Foote?

None of these forwards move the needle. And what's with people Obsession with wood he sucks
All the forwards fill a specific need the Sabres lack. Grit and willingness to go to the corners. I'd rather have any of the these free agents at $2-3 million a year than Olofsson at $4.75 million a year.

If KA can get a forward like Hathaway, Acciari, Tatar, Engvall, Bjugstad, or Wood on a 2 year deal around $2-2.5 milliona AAV than you have to do it.
Defense is Mayfield, Gudas, Orlov, or Soucy.
Goal is Korpisalo, Anderson, or Jones.
If you sign two solid defenders than maybe you can skip the upgrade in goal and go with the kids. Send Comrie to minors as an emergency, doubt he would get claimed on waivers with a $1.8 million cap hit.

I think the move has to be Östlund/Rosen and 24 1st rd pick to get Pesce, and I am ok with it as long as an extension is already in place.

This had to be part of a side deal. Penguins trade Teddy Blueger to Vegas for the 3rd rd pick, then they trade the pick back to Vegas for Reilly Smith.
Penguins definitely win trade...basically trading Blueger for Reilly Smith

Still think they will draft a d-man with #13 and try and sign a UFA for 2 years to plug in with Power. Thye don't want to sign a proven 4th d-man to a long term contract and block any of their young players. Not what I would do, just the philosophy KA has.

So to me this is equivalent to trading Krebs for a 1st, a 2nd, and a d prospect?

Power is the person who would want to be bridged. He will then get a ton of $$$ on his next contract because that will be his market value. The cost of business is the cost of business. He will be following the Dahlin model.
I'd rather give him $6 million on 3 year bridge, then extend him for 8 years at $10 million.
If you go the 8 year $8 million route now, you may end up giving him another 8 year $13 million when he is 29 years old and wants another extension. No thanks!!

1. Get a solid top 4 to play with Power.
2. Extend Dahlin, 8 x $10 million seems about right. If KA gets him under $10 mil than that's a bonus.
3. I'm only giving Power a 3 year bridge if he wants to sign this off-season. I'd rather pay a little more on a long term contract after he has played several years. Everyone remembers Myers had a great rookie year as well. Also wanting Skinner's contract to fall off books before I give Power big contract. The other reason is it keeps Power under contract until he is 32, instead of becoming an UFA at age 29.
4. One rugged forward in free agency like, Hathaway, Acciari, Wood, Engvall, Kampf, Bjugstad, Ritchie, or Nosek who can play 3rd or 4th line minutes.
5. Another big physical defenseman to push Stillman for 6ht d, and puts Bryson and Clague in minors.

Maybe Sabres trade back at the draft from #13 to like #18-#23 and gain an extra 2nd rd pick. They then can flip the later 1st rd pick with Joker to get Pesce. It doesn't feel as bad as trading the #13 overall pickand you get an additional 2nd?

Tanev shoots right, has 2 years left on a very reasonable contract and is from Toronto. Analytics say he’s elite defensively only behind Macavoy in the entire NHL. He’d be perfect for Powers. He provides very little offensively but that is pretty irrelevant.
Oloffson and a 2nd for Tanev is more than a fair offer (maybe too much). CGY needs wingers desperately.
Tanev only has one year left and then UFA, rather have Dillon from Jets.

There wouldn’t be a need for a Pride night if people minded their own business and stopped treating them differently or accusing them of grooming kids.
7 hours ago, pastajoe said:Nobody is grooming kids to be gay, especially at a hockey game. 🙄 They’re either gay or they’re not. The issue is do we support them to feel safe and accepted.
These two statements are so far from the truth. Twenty and thirty years ago there were gay people and as long as they understood they were the ones that were different, people accepted them even if they didn't agree, and left them alone. It's within the last ten years where everyone is trying to be politically correct and inclusive of everyone that it has gotten out of hand. Don't try and force things that are morally wrong on me or my kids. What if the mindset was we are to accept alcoholics for who they are and just let them do what they want, let them teach our kids in school that it is ok to drink and beat up people, drive and kill others, would your perspective be different?
Society understood alcoholism is mental disorder and alcoholics needed help. There are also laws to protect others from those people.
People who believe that they are to be something different than what God created them have mental issues. So I will always stand firm, there are two genders, male and female!!
So, on to a less confrontational topic? Who is the big acquisition the Sabres make this off-season?

I'm glad it's only for one year. He does well on PK and is willing to hit, just wish he would do it more.
Would love to get a guy like Frederick or Hathaway from the Bruins to fill in spot on wing with Mitts.
Jost should be extra forward that fills in for injuries.

Olofsson agrees to contract with Avalanche after being traded by Stars (nhl.com)
My heart was happy for a second!!

I'd trade Buffalo 2nd, Savoi, Jost and Olofsson to Calgary for Hanifin, Coleman, and Markstrom.

Not sure if I am in the minority here, but I would only give Power the same 3 year $6million bridge deal that Dahlin got. After 1 season I am not signing him to an 7-8 year extension. Yes people will say you can sign him to an $8 million contract long term now and lock him up. I am looking at the overall structure of the team though. If you bridge Power for 3 years, Skinner's contract will be off the books and you can afford to pay Power $9million after his bridge.
I believe KA has done great on his contract signings so far, but this to me is a no brainer.

Division opponents- 4 games= 28 games
Conference opponents- 2 games= 16 games
Out of Conference- 2 games= 32 games
76 regular season games
Perfect season and eliminates most of the back to back games!!

So does winning. He was miserable last year when they didn't make the playoffs.
To think Eichel may win a cup before McDavid is mind numbing to me. Oiler fans can't be very happy.
It just shows in this league that you need a great team and not just a great player or two. Eichel has a team around him where Edmonton has tried to win with just McDavid and Draisaitl. Vegas also pulled the old Tampa move and "rested" Stone for the season, cap circumvention, and now have a stud team in the playoffs. Also shows if you have a great team, and defensive structure, decent goaltending can get you deep into the playoffs!
side note: Sabres should look to improve defense before they worry about the goaltending.

Back to Hellebuyck idea...
If I would have asked anyone of you two years ago, would you trade Reinhart for Hellebuyck everyone would have said yes.
So in Reinhart you got Levi and pick (Kulich).
So if I asked you now would you trade Levi and (pick/prospect) Savoi, why would you not do that?
Agreed Hellebuyck would have have to have an extension in place of 6-7 years in order for me to make move.
Hellebuyck makes this team a playoff team every year he is here. Why are we putting are hopes that a prospect will work out?

I think Noel Acciari would be a great 4th line center for the next 3 years. Finishes his checks, wins over 50% of face-offs, has good speed, will get you 10-15 goals, great on PK, and has playoff experience.

I'm more inclined to signing KO to a one year deal than signing Girgs to a 3-4 year deal.
KO can play half the games,( front end of back to backs), and split time on 4th line RW with Jost,(who also signs one year deal).
This also allows Kulich one more year to work on defensive side of game in Roch.
