lol, I love the sudden bad mouthing of Peterka. I guess it’s human nature. All this kid did was work hard and improve every year he was in the organization. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wormtongue Adams spread the rumor JJP wanted out so he’d have an excuse not to pay him. Remember this is the genius GM who gave out long term deals one year wonders Cozens, Samuelsson, UPL and Power and didn’t give deals to players who earned new deals like Ullmark, Reinhart, Mitts and Peterka. The only brightside of this deal is that we have a top 4 RHD. The fact it’s 3-4 years too late to save this sinking ship is another issue. Can’t wait to see what his new deal will be when he gets traded because his contract demands will be to much for the incompetent Adams.

That’s completely un-true. Go back and read the articles about the McLeod trade, or every talent pool analysis or every discussion of a player’s career. The perception at the time of the Savoie trade was that we didn’t get enough for Savoie. Whether it matters on the ice is a second question, but it amazing how many opportunities former 1st rd picks seem to get such as Jeff Jillson for example. The truth is it does matter.

Do You Like The JJP for Kesselring/Doan Trade RIGHT NOW?
GASabresIUFAN replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I like the addition of Kesselring, but giving up JJP for him was much too high a price. -
Talk about apples to oranges Harrington. Fans have wanted to dump prospects for real NHL players for years. Fans also wanted to move especially from some of the Smaller forward draftees. What fans didn’t like was getting a 3rd line forward for a top 10 draft pick. This is completely different trade. We gave away the better player, an emerging elite forward for decent RHD and a young forward who doesn’t score goals and may only ever be a 4th line forward. We didn’t get good value for a 23 year 1st line forward. Also for all Adams moves last year, the team regressed even if McLeod and Zucker played well. So could this work out? Sure it could, but the team trading away the better player rarely “wins” the deal.

Here is something to make everyone feel better. Kesserling is an RFA after next season. So who is he getting trade for at the deadline so that KA can keep Samuelsson and not pay the newcomer? Bo Byram/Mitts trade 2.0 with the same future results. To make matters worse he has given every young player who is “unhappy” a way out of town. This franchise is just about dead. By the way no one is going to “like” Doan. He isn’t his Dad. He is at best a bottom 6 forward who has shown no ability to score goals. At least he’s young and cheap. The only person thrilled with this trade is Quinn. He now gets a chance to prove he can play in a top 6 role. When he plays well, Adams will trade him too. Very exciting times in Sabreland.

I’m going to call BS on that stat. There is no way that 14.7% 5 on 5 is an NHL record. I also disagree that a regression is going to happen. The kid has improved all 3 NHL seasons. He may top out as a 75 pt guy, but how many forwards of even that level have we drafted and developed since the tank? 2, Eichel and Reinhart who were both 2nd overall picks. We didn’t draft Thompson.

Happy for Alex. When does Rick Martin get in?

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6448606/2025/06/24/sabres-peterka-adams-nhl-draft-2025/ (quotes from Fairburn not Adams) 1. Possible Petreka trade 2. Tuch's new deal "He’s too important on and off the ice." Fairburn thinks the deal needs to be done sooner than later. 3. Samuelsson Adams said no truth to a buyout of Samuelsson. I'm sorry but that Adams hasn't lost faith in Samuelsson is a pretty good indication the guys has no clue. He needs to go. 4. Coaching staff With Assistants under contract Fairburn thinks they all are returning, but an addition is possible. More of an indication that Adams is clueless. Bringing the same assistants back on a team that has regressed two straight years is malpractice. 5. Jarmo He will be based in Columbus. Apparently Karmanos is based in Pittsburgh. Who runs a team in Buffalo and the key staff live elsewhere? 6. Goalies Adams is comfortable with UPL and Levi, but is open to adding to the position. I guess this is the same scenario as last year. UPL is the starter, Levi in Rochester unless he wins the backup job in camp over a end of career vet like Anderson or Reimer. Who cares that UPL has had only one good pro season (AHL or NHL) or that Levi's hasn't shown in the last two seasons the ability to handle the NHL. 7. Forton and the draft Forton sees a drop off in after the first 5-7 players. Good thing were drafting 9th. Forton likes D Mrtka and Aitcheson and we know how good he is at evaluating NHL players. The Athletic mocks Mrtka to us at 9. 8. Prospect pool needs Forton and Adams don't see many "needs." Forton said physical and tough players will be in high demand after another Panthers Cup. More genius from Forton. We have been saying that they need to get tougher for a decade and that the prospect pool lacked those kind of players. Why only address it now? Oh yeah, the people running this team are idiots and incompetent. -

same crap different season. -
Other hockey leagues, like the SHL, have regulation and promotion. I don't think it's possible here as the AHL is now only a development league and the majority of the players in the league property of the parent clubs.

https://clutchpoints.com/nhl/buffalo-sabres/sabres-rumors-insider-links-5-teams-jj-peterka Chicago, NYI, NYR, TB and Van I doubt we trade him (and I don't think we should), but lets see who actually has something to offer. 1) TB - Hagel (27 in Aug) has no trade protection and 7 years left at 6.5. I doubt TB is making him available. Cirelli has an NTC. Cernak is already 28 and has a NTC. I don't see any fit here 2) NYI - Romanov and Dobson are certainly of interest and are RFAs. I don't see any forwards of interest who don't have trade protection. Not real interested in Barzal (28) at 9.5 for 7 more years coming off 20 pts in 30 games. 3) NYR - I have no interest in Lafreniere. Miller is to old. I have interest in K'Andre Miller, Soucy and Borgen on defense, but not for JJP. Cuylie is of interest, but is an RFA and isn't as good a player as JJP. Miller and Cuylie for JJP? Maybe? 4) Van - I have no interest in Pettersson and his bad knees. We already have Norris. I have some interest in Hronek, but he has a NMC. Garland is a solid 2nd 3rd line winger but is 29. Demko for JJP is some deal might hold some interest. 5) Chicago - They just moved Burakovsky. Nazar is interesting but we already have Benson. I'd love to get Vlasic, but they aren't moving him. The NYI or NYR look like the best trade partners unless we get Demko from Vancouver.

https://www.notedhockey.com/p/rasmus-dahlin-and-playing-the-offhand - He played mostly right side in Sweden. Not only is it not a myth, there are plenty of articles floating around that says he is more effective from the right side. I'm wondering if we are looking at the wrong NYI FA. What about trading for RFA Alex Romanov. He is a physical LHD and he has proven he can play 22 minutes a night and he effective playing with a Power like partner in Dobson. I'm wondering if he would be a perfect pair for Dahlin.
-
First things first: Dahlin/Dobson is a non-starter. Dahlin prefers the right side and although we have seen time and again Dahlin can play with anyone, if we are bringing in a Dobson he needs to anchor his own pair. We need a partner for Power (if we are keeping him) and while Dobson is an experienced RHD, Dobson's game doesn't not match up well with Power as they are similar style players except Dobson is slightly more aware defensively. Dobson was most effective the last 2 season playing with the physical Alex Romanov. If we are bringing in Dobson, we need to move on from Clifton, Power, Byram and probably Samuelsson. ????? Dahlin ????? Dobson Samuelsson? JBD
-
If you are bringing in Dobson, Power and Byram need to go. We don’t need 3 offensive D. Noah and Dahlin need to anchor their own pair. I’d be thrilled to have Dobson, but it doesn’t solve the primary issue with a team defense populated with Power and Byram.

What, If Anything, Gives You Hope For Next Season?
GASabresIUFAN replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
As of right now there is little to no hope. Until positive moves are made to at least re-work the defense (2-3 new players in the top 6 including at least 1 top 4 defensive D), this team will remain at the bottom of the standings. I have zero faith in Adams to accomplish even the minimum of improvement. Remember, despite the additions of Zucker, McLeod and Byram, this team took another step backwards last season. -
2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th
GASabresIUFAN replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I found that funny as well. Isn't "compete" Carter Bear's best attribute? I haven't (and won't) do my usual deep dive into this draft, but Bear seems like the right choice for the Sabres at 9 unless something crazy happens early in the draft. -
Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
GASabresIUFAN replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
He’s more like a pitcher who tips his pitches with a lousy fastball. -
I'd venture he'd have been top 3 because his counting stats would also go up on a better team.

GASabresIUFAN replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Adams fails because he has no f-ing idea how to build and manage a team. He should be selling shoes at a Mall Florsheim store. (Not that there is anything wrong with that).
