I did something to annoy him though. Think it’s because when he turned around and looked at me, I didn’t smile or anything. I was kind of starstruck; being right behind the glass is surreal. Think he took it the wrong way, I’ll never know.

I was front row, center ice in the TD Garden once in 2009… right behind the Sabres bench. I’ll never know why, but Lindy Ruff stared at me and gave me the nastiest look. That man is scary. I had my buffaslug hat on and everything.

Think it’s safe to say that this trade isn’t happening til next year’s trade deadline. Unless there is enormous posturing going on from both sides, the league and KA seem worlds apart. I just don’t logically see it happening before the season starts now. Not even being pessimistic, just don’t see it.

Normally when all you can say nice about someone is that they’re not a bad guy, it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I’ll honestly never understand why some here go so far out of their way to be Jack Eichel apologists. Sure, some fans are unbelievably harsh on players, which is rather unsophisticated. But coming across as if Jack Eichel can do no wrong is also a bit much.

I’m actually glad that KA hasn’t took on any big name vets that in all likelihood, wouldn’t want to be here. That hasn’t worked in the past for us. Whether that’s restraint, them not taking his money, or maybe a bit of both, it is refreshing in a way. Boring, but refreshing.
I really just want a legit 1a goalie and some protection for our younger guys. Protection as in guys who will shield them and retaliate if teams take liberties on them.

If we can get Rossi and Kahkonen from the Wild then this thing is still salvageable.

Good point, and I for one agree with at least this aspect of his approach. We don’t want to overpay FA who don’t really want to be here to begin with. That has never helped in the past.
The one good thing that may come from this off season is that we are in a great cap space position moving forward. KA is smart not to screw that up. Makes for a boring off season though.

The captain of our team skating with arguably our biggest rival (many will argue even more than Toronto) is not a good look. Some fans don’t mind, but many of us do. And we’re not gonna be quiet about it.

I think DG will have them playing hard, and honestly, that’s all I really ever ask for. Just hope they don’t get pushed around all over the ice.

Thank you. I’ve been beating this drum for the last two days and everyone ignores it. They didn’t protect him in the expansion draft either.

Okay, I believe KA means what he is saying. I don’t think this is a tank, but from a fan’s experience, it might as well be. I think he is sincere when he says he wants to keep cap room so they can “strike” when the time is there. Also makes sense why he is signing so many 1 year contracts; making complacency impossible.
KA definitely has a fleshed out strategy. We may not agree with it, but that press conference shed a lot of light on what is going on.
