Just remember he was a part of the suck here. His stats were good but never was good enough to lead us into the playoffs.
Exactly. I wouldn’t put it on him for not leading us to the playoffs, but a player like him need a lot of complimentary pieces. We saw him have his best season towards the end but he’s soft. I know many here get upset when someone says that but it’s true. He was part of the old core. Time to turn the page.

So much for "he is going to bolt and play for Vancouver". Clearly did not get enough of a return. A late round 1st pick and a goalie that may never play here long term for a steady productive player is a loss for us.
Still say KA did great with that trade. Devon Levi looks legit. Sam would have walked anyway.

So the Bills approach is considered “cutting edge” but the Sabres are viewed as using “med school dropouts?” More likely, just another case of old school hockey players resisting change.
I don’t follow the Bills, I’m a college football guy. I have no idea what the Bills are doing.

I’m not on Jack’s “side”, so to speak, but this does seem to point to incompetent ownership.

What if they trade Jack for a very good goalie? Wouldn't that be enough, as it arguably (hate that term, but there it is) is the team's biggest problem?
Not as the main piece but it should be included. I’ve been openly saying all along that I want our trade partner to be Minn so we can get Kahkonen and Rossi. They didn’t protect Kahkonen in the expansion draft so it should be a possibility.

Just heard a rumor on Instigators. So I’ll pass it along and add my own totally speculative thoughts.
A ‘NHL source’ said that Boston was calling KA every two weeks about Jack. That sounds unrealistic. I’d swap them Jack for Charlie MacAvoy and a goalie but doubt that happens.
I recall that KA was trying to get a goalie out of Boston when he traded Hall, but Boston would not budge. Which is curious, if Boston liked their young goalies so much why sign Linus? With Rask that gives them four NHL goalies. Did they do that to screw with us and make us want to make a deal for Jack?
Sounds too crazy to be true.
It does sound crazy but Jack going to Boston would be very Buffalo. I can’t envision the trade but I can envision him in that jersey.

I'm totally confused why you would think the Pegula's would want to have him keep the captaincy.
I literally stated the reason in the following sentence from the one you highlighted.

I’ll always follow our team but because I work nights and am very busy with other things, I won’t be going out of my way to watch every game on the DVR a day later if they’re a dumpster fire. I will be watching though, always am.
-
I have no idea but if DG let’s him keep the C (if he does come back and is playing) then he is either not the coach I think he is, or the Pegula’s really do run the show. Don’t want to hear about stripping it impacting his trade value either, the whole league knows he’s not a leader. He’s a highly skilled PPG 1C.

The biggest mistake the owners could make is to not give this regime the time to implement their rebuilding plan. The biggest mistake the owners have made throughout their reign is constantly churning through coaches and GMs. It is this instability that has repeatedly set back this franchise. The lack of follow through and this constant starting and stopping with new rebuilding plans has not only not advanced this franchise but has repeatedly set it back. Continued foolishness leads to predictable results.
This is what concerns me, that Terry and Kim won’t have the patience for what KA is looking to do.

I’m convinced that this franchise can survive virtually anything, that’s how die hard our fanbase base is. I do believe it’s slowly taking a toll though, and if we go another 10 years of this we will lose many potential fans.

Speaking for myself, I always treat other people's religion or lack thereof very seriously. I would never, ever denigrate Jesus, Muhammed, Moses, etc. As a Sikh, it is a sin for me to do so.
Please accept my apologies for any offence which I may have caused. It was not my intention.
All is forgiven, thank you I appreciate that.

Haven’t watched The Big Lebowski, have you?
Nope, I haven’t. But if people so much as even named the current or former president, irregardless of context, it would be rightfully interpreted as bringing up politics. This is no different. Actually it’s much worse but I think you get my point.
I don’t bring up religion around here, but I sure do have to defend Him every now and then. People unanimously don’t like these talks here, so others probably shouldn’t bring it up.

But, he’s a pederass.
The Jesus jabs are getting old. Don’t cry about people “bringing up religion”in hockey threads when they come to His defense. If it’s not allowed, people should stop bringing it up as a joke.

You really need both the guy who takes it (to score more goals) and the guy who dishes it out (to yield fewer goals). Otherwise, you have perimeter players on offence and no one to clear the crease on defence.
Not being able (or willing) to clear our crease has haunted us for over a decade. Anyone remember our last playoff appearance against Philly? They camped out in front of our net the entire series.

I miss the days of Pat Kaleta. There wasn’t a shot he wouldn’t block and boy did he lay down the hammer on people. That man left it all on the ice. He “got it”, and wearing that crest meant something to him. Players like that are contagious, and I think it rubs off on to the skilled players eventually too.

I think the question of who would be the top prospect would ebb and flow anyhow and would really just come to a matter of opinion (as it seems to close to be unanimous). That would be a good problem to have though.

How is Jack a jerk ? He wants to win and Also holds his teammates accountable.
I haven't heard one bad thing about jack have you ?
Have you been living under a rock? Let’s see, there was the ridiculous arrogant drunken introduction to us, the stick breaking and door slamming on the ice hissy fits, dropping F bombs on podcasts, demanding a trade (more or less) with 5 years remaining, blaming our organization for playing it safe etc.
I can go on. How does he hold teammates accountable like Nate does? Hissy fits on the ice don’t count.

I don’t think Jack really, like leads and stuff. So not a good comparison. Nate does sound like a jerk though. But a constructive jerk. Jack is just a jerk.

KA has no other choice but to go full rebuild, it’s not like we have anything to lose at this point. FA hasn’t worked, and we certainly don’t want him to go NYI Mike Milbury mode and try to win now. So this is where we’re at. I like the sound of hard working.
-
I get looking for any and every type of smoke amid dead silence, but this has got to be a nothing burger. I still check this thread daily to see if anything new developed, but it’s hard to remain at high alert for this long. Think it’s gonna be a while now guys.
-
I’m glad KA has been holding the line, I’m also wondering what a fully healthy Jack is worth. We all know he is a PPG 1C, but would you put him in the top 10? How about top 15?
How good will Sam Reinhart be in the playoffs?

One good thing about moving Sam (and probably Jack) is that we will most likely soon be able to see them in the playoffs. Some will feel indifferent at best to that which I get, but still it will be interesting to watch.
