This has been the, "......point is, can't get fooled again" moment for many fans it looks like. Optimism was generally way higher than normal due to the Hall addition, and people got bit. Someone said the straw/camel thing recently and I agree with that. Fans are by and large wait-and-see on the product while Adams and Co are "wait and see" on changes.

I'm sure a huge factor in this is that the border is closed.

There are a lot more Canadians in that building for a garden variety Sabres game than a lot of people think.

It's a huge part of why the franchise is successful over the years.

The Sabres are like the Bills: they have a regional fanbase.

With COVID and the closed border, a huge chunk of our ticket base just got cut out of the mix.

And of course what is left is so frustrated, they aren't interested in jumping through hoops to attend.

    I don't blame anyone.

Part of me wants to go just to smuggle in a giant sign that says, "OWNERSHIP DOWN TO PLAYERS: YOU ALL SUCK" but I don't want to pay to do that.

I think some people will pay to do that!  And if Ralph is still  the coach and things are still status quo in a week, I think we could hear some boos and see some signs.

It might be the most interesting thing that has happened in a while.

    Looking forward to it.

MODO your organizational chart is THE REASON for the lost decade.

Not enough people seem to understand this.  Pegula is the cause of all of it, and our problems will remain as long as he is the owner.  Bills fans went through this for basically TWENTY years, not 10.  When it is this messed up for this long, with all these changing parts, it can only be ownership.

For a league where literally over 50% of the teams make the playoffs, not making it in a decade is astoundingly embarrassing.

It's not just embarrassing!  It's actually mathematically nearly impossible.

ESPN's analytics department reported on the odds of the Bills missing the NFL playoffs for 17 years, and that was like 1 in 7 million as I recall.

The odds of an NHL team--with its playoff structure as it is--not missing for 10 years in a row have to be pretty incredible.

It's actually difficult to do something like that.

Though Pegula does make its look rather easy!

PS:   Kudos to MODO for realizing the Krueger hire was a freaking joke the moment the news broke here.  Not all of us were stupid enough to think this "outside the box" hire was a good idea.

MODO has been onto the absurdity of this hire from Day 1.

A leopard doesn't change its spots.  Whoop de do if someone out of character drops the gloves tonight.  A couple games from now, all will be forgotten, and they will go back to their Ice Capades routine.

You don't get "do overs" with this type of thing!  Either you show up when its unexpected and you are called to do something, or you don't.

Last night, Miller stepped up and showed up when he had to.

But after Ruhwedel's cheap shot on Dahlin, no one did a thing, and that was the cheaper of the 2 hits by a mile IMO.

This is the Lucic incident in Boston all over again.

Maybe next game we can send Paul Gaustad out there to crack some skulls like we did last time.

    LOL

We have nobody on the roster that can send that message. It’s been one the glaring issues with this team for years

There are a few guys on the team who will step up and fight when necessary.  Jake McCabe comes to mind, though he's out now.

NONE of them are actually good at it.

Over the last many years, the league has gone from lots of fighters to few fighters; then for a while you had to be a good fighter but also a pretty decent hockey player to see a roster.  That was sort of the Adam Mair type players.  The hybrids.

Now they're pretty much all gone too.

This is why when teams actually get pissed off at each other and pair up, *nothing* happens! LOL!  The people to do something about it just aren't on the ice anymore.

It was no different in the '80s, if the wrong guys were caught on the ice at the wrong time.

The difference being that the mistake could be corrected next shift or whenever the coach wanted to do it...the personnel was on the bench, somewhere.

Now it's just gone for the most part.

Not all teams are as soft as the Sabres right now, however.

Sad thing is how this team is right up against the cap is beyond me. Combination of both bad front office and bad coaching.

    It was a dirty play.

That's how I saw it too.

Bob Errey doing Penguins color for the game immediately called it as such as well, for what that's worth.

He suggested someone on the Sabres needed to respond and thought it was alarming that no one did.

I wouldn't blow this out of proportion to some big thing given all the other problems surrounding the team.

We have a solid shot at pushing our losing streak to double digits on Saturday.  We need to focus on that.

    😳

What's the franchise record for loses?

In the regular season?  14 in a row; 2014-2015.

All-time NHL record is 18; that was Pittsburgh in 2003-2004.

Obviously Ralph is not getting canned.  This is a culturally bankrupt and terminally broken hockey team. There are 3 competent veteran coaches available but I hold no hope.

I've been cheering for the opposition for quite a while now; that definitely helps.

Now I'm looking to see the loss streak become a new record.

Something we can all be proud of achieving.

You know...   we had a very quick response by Tage to tie it at 1-1. And Victor buried an ES goal to tie it at 2. I never once thought we'd take the lead in this game. I guess this is it.

If Cozens misses time from that hit, or if Dahlin's knee now is wonky and we've done nothing to defend him on multiple occasions ---  I'll have reached the point of hopelessness. It's the (WOT reference) "last that could be done" point. Of course, that's not the bottom. That's just the last barrier/line in the sand that is crossed and things just get worse from there.

We're hanging on an antenna underneath Bespin, TPeg. Missing a hand. And crying out for help and hope before we plummet.

Did you hear Ralph's post game Presser?  The ***** was spewing at full force.  He had some great turns of phrase in there.  The guy is so fantastically full of *****.

Rudy never was that kind of player.  That knee on knee hit was a last second bad decision.  Not “dirty” play.

I think it was at least somewhat dirty.  Definitely poor judgment; he extended his leg/knee way out there.  He knows what he's doing.

I don't want to ignite another "Should we be Fighting" back and forth like last week

And I'm happy that Miller responded BUT If that's the best Miller has, He probably shouldn't fight.

I mean Geez....He's big enough to Rag Doll this guy. Pound the piss out of him or don't bother !!

Its no wonder he's not a Bruin anymore....

It's not how many you win or lose, it's how many you show up for.

At least Miller showed up!  Can't ask more from him in that situation.

Ruhwedel's cheap-shot knee on Dahlin went totally unresponded to!  It's not like Dahlin is important to our future or anything...

    This team sucks so bad.

Marty knows what I'm talking bout. You have to respond when they throw dirty hits on your young star players.

Dahlin has had a tough year but you cannot let teams take liberty with him in any way. You MUST respond!

    Yes, of course!

No response on the knee was discouraging to see, but this entire team is a ***** show and has been that way for a long time.

    No surprises here.

I think he's done for the season.

He's almost certainly getting a second opinion b/c his primary physician is telling him surgery is necessary.

Assuming the second opinion is similar, he will probably get the surgery done ASAP and miss the rest of the season.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't play out that way.
