  1. keep in mind the disclaimer. Game engine footage. Me thinks the in game graphics will not be the same.

So very true. Take a look at NHL 15. Trailer is breathtaking. Actual game graphics are great, but not in comparison to the trailer. Have fingers crossed Battlefront 3 is very close to what the trailer had to offer. This is already a must buy in my opinion.

  2. I honestly think AZ is going to win the drawing.  In the past 20 years the last place team has only won the lottery 5 times.  I'm hopeful but being realistic.

Which makes it even more likely the Sabres will take it. If it's bound to happen, it'll happen. I know numbers in the past have no impact on tonight's lottery, but it's good to think it's only happened so many times.....

  3. I'm not too familiar w/ the Batman vs. Superman story. There has to be some antagonist they team up against. Maybe one trying to get Batman and Superman to wipe each other out? Looking forward to the movie. Just wish they had made a second Man of Steel first.

  4. They're just gonna announce the winner, the same way as last year with the envelopes. However they will make the ball drawing available for public viewing afterwards on NHL.com.

Might wait for the ball drawing on NHL.com to make it fun to watch. Would increase the suspense. So Kramer on this one!

  5. As each ball rolls out, I'll be rushing through the numbers Eleven provided. Appreciate you doing that Eleven. Major thanks on that.

Ha Tried the simulator one time and Buffalo won the lottery!

Way more suspenseful by getting one ball at a time.

And it may take 2 minutes to complete. Increases the nail biting suspense....

  6. Time to bring Miller home.  His flirtation with the West Coast and the all-travel-all-the-time Western Conference is over.

Wouldn't mind that w/ the transition the Sabres are going through. Ullmark is the goalie I have high hopes for. Miller would be a great mentor for him. Miller has two years remaining on his contract. He'll be making 6 million each year. Question is what would Buffalo have to give up to bring Miller back? As @fakegor pointed out, Miller has only had 1 start in the last 7 weeks. It makes sense why Lack is starting in the playoffs. Vancouver may have no desire to trade the guy. Now, if Lack stands on his head during the playoffs, Vancouver may decide he is their guy and may consider trading Miller. However, what do the Canucks have in their system? If they have next to nothing, Miller will not be traded.

  7. What frustrates me is the chance of a near miss playoff team winning the lottery. In the past a team could only improve their draft position by 4. Why was that changed? A few years back New Jersey won the lottery and moved from 8th to 4th. That enabled the team finishing last to have the 1st pick. Just do not understand why a team like Boston or LA has a chance at McDavid. The NHL should be following the NFL when it comes to the draft. If a team finishes in last place they get the 1st pick. I understand the NHL changed their draft system to help prevent "tanking", but it is quite obvious teams are still willing to do it. Even w/ a new system coming into play next year teams, if a player like McDavid is in the draft, will still do what it takes to increase their chances of landing that 1st pick. NHL should have gone w/ the old saying "If it's not broke, don't fix it." A tank will always happen when a once a generation player is up for grabs.

  8. If the Sabres win the lottery and get McDavid, I see five-seven years out of him tops.

Back when the Sabres selected Perreault, players couldn't force their way out of town. If they could, Perreault would've been gone to the Habs, his dream destination. As great as he was, I'm convinced he would've been greater playing out his dream.

McDavid's dream is to play with the Leafs, Buffalo's chief rival, but a rivalry that doesn't mean much to anyone else in the league. In this hockey era, great players can orchestrate the situations they want. Now Pegula might bribe him into a few years with insane money, but I don't think Buffalo means much to him. You only live once and by hook or crook, I see McDavid eventually going to the Leafs, if not by some manipulation of the lottery, then a few years down the road by his choice along with a powerful agent.

And Eichel, if he turns out...he grew up near Boston...

Plenty of players have had a change of heart as they played w/ a team and had success. Not a hockey player, but a great example is Jim Kelly. Guy wanted nothing to do w/ the Bills.

  9. I've already convinced myself the Sabres will not win the lottery. It'll help prevent a let down. Had my moment of excitement when Columbus scored the eventual game winning goal last week to secure "McEichel" for Buffalo. Just hope Eichel doesn't stay in college.

  10. Every person is different. There are countless reasons why his g.p.a., if true, is so low. At times a college athlete, particularly ones in their freshman year, put all of their attention/care towards the sport they are involved. I knew a guy who was very successful in cross country and track while in high school, and he was recruited by many schools. After making his choice, all he cared about was cross country. To make a long story short his first semester g.p.a. was a 1.52. Well below the required NCAA standards. His g.p.a. was due to poor decision making. A light bulb turned on w/ an added get your grades up from his parents, coaches, etc... The guy came back w/ a straight A's the next semester and never finished below a B in a class for his remaining college years.

Plus, schools providing athletic scholarships do have required study hall hours/grade requirements. At the school we went to, if your g.p.a. was 3.0 or higher you were not required to attend study hall. My belief, if his g.p.a. is that low, it was by poor decision making, not being academically challenged.

  11.

    ‏@NBCSportsPR
Top 5 rated NHL markets for reg season for combined NBC/NBCSN: Buffalo 1.17; Pittsburgh 1.15; Boston 1.00; St. Louis 0.95; & Chicago 0.90

    Despite the Shart.

Beyond awesome, but doesn't this focus on US markets? Can CBC broadcast games being played in St. Louis or any other American city? This would have an impact on Canadian markets. I'm sure Buffalo would still be in the top 5.

  12. Ottawa beat the Flyers. They clinch, Bruins are out, and the Sabres game becomes moot for Pittsburgh.

Boston is only 1 point behind Pittsburgh. The Penguins can clinch w/ 1 point tonight. If they lose and Boston wins, the Bruins will be in the playoffs. Pittsburgh fans have reason to be concerned about tonight's game.
