  1. Bylsma likes Zemgus and didn't rule out starting the season with him as the #1 center.  Said something along the lines of protecting Eichel and Samson and not expecting them to play against Crosby or Giroux, or Ovechkin right away.

Stamkos averaged 14:56 his rookie season. The first half of the season he was held to 10 minutes of ice time. Stamkos was eased into the NHL. I have no problem w/ Bylsma doing the same thing w/ Eichel and Samson. As the season progresses, changes can be made. Increase their ice time  when they seem ready. I'm not talking about earning ice time. There is a difference between the two. I would be very disappointed if Bylsma went w/ Nolan's approach.

  2. Supposedly Sakic wants ROR re-signed before the season starts. Doesn't want a headache. And ROR feels the same way. During the season, he claims to have his mind only on hockey. This is from an article written in April.

“After the year is over, we will be in contact with his people,” Sakic said, “and we are going to try to re-sign Ryan. We like Ryan a lot. We feel he’s valuable and he’s one of our core guys. … He doesn’t need it, we don’t need it, no one needs the distractions of going through the season (as a possible unrestricted free agent in July 2016), so we’re going to try to get it done.”

Would O’Reilly be on the market if he isn’t re-signed to an extension? “I’m not going to put a deadline on it,” Sakic said, “but I want him signed before next season starts, let’s put it that way.”

In my opinion, this means if an agreement is not reached this summer Sakic will try to trade him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a player's value "drop" as his contract nears expiration? Teams know he'll be on the market as UFA very soon. What I mean by this is if an agreement has not been been reached and the trade deadline is near, wouldn't Sakic be asking for less to get rid of him? Something is better than nothing. Now in ROR's case, that something will still be costly, but one can only wonder how much his value has dropped. Plenty of teams would take a shot at the guy if he becomes a UFA. Pegula doesn't have a problem w/ money. If Murray wants him bad enough, Terry will pay. Now, I'm sure a line would be drawn somewhere. Buffalo dropped out of the Richardson bidding war. I know the Rangers had rights to the guy, but 12 million a year was insane.

  3. Netflix Works on the ps3 and the blu ray player.just the smart tv that won't play Netflix.

Ever think about picking up a Roku? Works great w/ Netflix and countless other providers. What smart tv do you have? I have a smart tv by Vizio, but someone lied to it. It's pretty dumb. Vizio says it's compatible w/ Netflix, but it's not. I get the same message you do.

  4. It's gotta be tough trying to break into this forum during these drought times too. I came in here when the team was at it's brightest in 07 so it was easy for me to adjust because there was so much to talk about that I could just interject here and there without much concern. It's no secret that with less to post about in recent years that posts and posters have become fewer and more deeply scrutinized. We're a product of Regier.

Don't ever say that again! Ok, think happy thoughts GoPre. Just happy thoughts. Yeah, yeah, that's all you need. There was no Regier... There was no Regier....

And guys, I'm not a noob. Been w/ the board since 07'. Had 2,000 + posts, but when I attempted to change my e-mail it froze my SabreSpace account! Formerly known as.... Thanes16. I asked the Mod-Team to fix it, but they ignored me! Those sons of bitcchhes ignored me! Can you believe that?!

  5. RFAs I would be interested in and what I would offer:

    Offer together:

Tyler Toffoli (RW - LAK) - 5 years, $23M (first and third)

    Martin Jones (G - LA) - 3 years, $2M (second)

This likely forces LA to choose one or the other. They probably choose Toffoli.

Jakob Silfverberg (RW - ANA) - 4 years, $14M (second)

Brandon Saad (RW - CHI) - 5 years, $25M (first and third)

Dougie Hamilton (D - BOS) - 6 years, $36M (two firsts, second and third)

Gustav Nyquist (RW - DET) - 4 years, $20M (first and third)

Vlad Tarasenko (RW - STL) - 2 years, $20M (four first) - I don't know why but go crazy. Don't think I would actually do this, but it might take something like this.

Mikkel Boedker (RW - ARZ) - 3 years, $9.5M (second)

Craig Smith (RW - NSH) - 3 years, $9.5M (second)

Alex Galchenyuk (C - MTL) - 3 years, $11M (second) make them prove they do value him in some way

Shane Prince (LW - OTT) - 2 years, $2.2M (no compensation)

Those including first-round compensation I would likely only do if Murray makes other big moves in free agency/trades before the RFA action picks up.

It'd be great if Buffalo went for Tofolli, but LA will probably try to keep him. Saad is the next guy I'd want the Sabres to go after. Just trying to think realistically. LA and Chicago are rather tight against the cap. Boston is also close to the cap, so Hamilton would be a great addition, but Buffalo would have to give up too many quality draft picks. However, if the Sabres acquired Hamilton I wouldn't mind it at all if the 21st pick, Grigs and Zadorov were sent to Colorado for ROR. Just my thoughts. Out of the three mentioned Saad seems to be the most likely to happen. Let me stress this is my "fantasy hockey" opinion.

  6. Didn't read the entire thread, but saw near the beginning an interesting idea. Putting the rosters on NHL 15 and simulating season 1 could decide the winner. After the season is over, you guys could make roster moves/trades to improve your teams. Season 2 could then be simulated. This would be a very long, difficult thing to do for the person managing the NHL 15 updates, but would be interesting. EA sports once made an NFL focused on being a GM. Never attempted to play it, but a friend of mine said it was very difficult/fun. Just an idea for you guys to try out. I'd like to see the results season by season. But again, a lot of work for all of you.

Found this NHL GM game online shortly after recommending the idea of using NHL 15. Not sure how good it is, but it may help you guys out.

  7. Speaking of that song, this remains the greatest Buffalo Sabres video on YouTube. Bar none.

I thought I also heard that flimsy "Dancing on the Ceiling" song or whatever it was called. Another recent sound track of misery.

Fun video to watch. Very creative.

  8. Some draft pick crap to figure out but looks like he's in. (Which I think is a load of crap)

    Chime in...

I'm curious who you guys and gals think he'll pull in for assistant coaches?

    Chime in...

It is a complete load of.... Pittsburgh is exploiting a goof up in whatever the league typed out. If a team fires a coach, they should not receive anything for it if another team hires him. It can hurt a coaches chance of landing another coaching position. If the Sabres do have to give up a 3rd round pick, I'd love it if Murray made a comment on how stupid the rule is. Sure, people have gotten on to Murray for saying this, that and the other when he probably shouldn't have, but I wouldn't mind it all if he slammed Pittsburgh for getting a pick.

Didn't know Bylsma was relieved of duty, not fired, until after I posted this.

  9. If only he'd be still be 36 in 3-5 years.

Jagr's numbers have dropped a bit, but the guy has aged well. Put up 67 points in the 2013/14 season as a 42 year old. Had 18 in the last 20 games w/ the Panthers this year. Still wouldn't give up much for Hossa. Not everyone drinks from the fountain of youth.

  10. That's got nothing to do with being able to improve or change the way you learned to do something. You can always change, the way you threw a football at 10 years old is not going to be the same way you throw a football at 23 years old. You said you can't learn how to be an accurate passer after the age of 10 and I say that is ridiculous to think that is true.

Brain develops over time and eventually reaches a capping point. If you haven't learned the proper mechanics at a some what early age, there will be little room for progression.

  11. Kelly's Heroes.

Band of Brothers or The Pacific

Top Gun (I feel the need... the need for speed... and sweaty muscled up flyboys)

    Full Metal Jacket

    Patton

Das Boot (nothing wrong with seeing the war from a different perspective- see the humanity, and that's what Memorial Day is about for me)

    Where Eagles Dare

    Tora! Tora! Tora!

    Black Hawk Down

and any number of documentaries- I'm a memoirs junkie, too.

    This Kelly's Heroes? ha ha

    025U3UTbLXaWd_2329.jpg

In all seriousness, I've heard Kelly's Heroes is a great movie. Haven't seen it though. Adding another one to watch for the first time.

  12. Have any of you played Far Cry 4? If so, what game would you compare it to? Also, is it worth buying? Debating between that and FFX remastered for the PS4. Imo, that was the last great Final Fantasy game. Haven't played FFX since the PS2. That's why I'm tempted to pick it up.

  13. Anyone remember Street Fighter II for SNES?

    75JpPMy.gif

Beyond yes! That and MK 2 are my favorite fighting games of all time.

Picked Bloodborne up last weekend. Difficulty is through the roof, but it's fun/addictive at the same time. Can't get enough of it. Wish I had played Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1 and 2....

  14. The cap floor is not/will never be an issue whilst TP owns the team.

Yep, he couldn't understand why so many felt it would be difficult to reach the floor last year.

“You guys always asked about the floor which I never understood, but anyway,” Murray said before opening his end-of-day press conference at First Niagara Center. “I said earlier, it’s always easy to spend money.”

Typical Buffalo media will be raising the question again I'm sure. Different "hurdles" may be placed for Murray by the press as the Sabres are in a different situation this offseason, but he'll be rolling his eyes in a are you serious kind of way.

  15. If you've got a PS4 download Resogun. I'm not sure if it's free anymore, but boy is it a fun arcade-style game. Very addicting.

I'd download it, but Comcast blows. Works fine w/ my PS3, but the connection w/ the PS4 is terrible. One minute I can make updates in matter of seconds. Next minute it takes 39 hours. Not exaggerating. Going w/ top feed right provided by Comcast. No excuse for it.
