  1. If you would spend some time around race horses, I think you would feel differently.  They get tremendous care and are loved by their trainers and owners for the most part.  And they love to run and race.  That is what they have been bred to do.  I have a two year old named Ice On the Severn, who is such a class act and is one of the happiest animals I know, particularly when he gets to go out with other horses.

To be sure, there are abuses, but there is in everything in life.  Do you think the NFL is completely humane?  I'd much rather be a racehorse than an NFL player in terms of long term quality of life.  I mean after next year, all American Pharoah will have to do for 20 plus years is have sex with 120 different mares each year.  He will not have any long term concussive issues or commit suicide.

What American Pharoah did yesterday was magnificent.  It is a time to celebrate a truly remarkable athlete, not get bogged down in throwing out the good in a fruitless effort of trying to make the world a perfect place.

    Great post. +1

  2. I can't wait to be the team everyone hates because we're so good

It will most certainly be better than being a team everyone hates because we were so bad....on purpose. And yes, I did support a word that should probably never be mentioned again on this board. Mod-Team, can it be considered as profanity?

Looking forward to the great days that lie ahead!

  3. OK -- this seems to have deteriorated, in the immortal words of (I think) Jeanbe, into a b#tch fight in the parking lot.

    Back to your corners boys.

Ha I like your analogy.

As for the two going at it, just want to say I value their opinions and enjoy the fact their regulars on this board. Some times things can get a little heated amongst posters on any message board. How does the saying go? If it can happen, it will happen. Trust me, there will be a day I go off on someone for a post I feel crossed the line. Ha Look at the times the posts were made. A few cold ones may have been involved!

Alright Ghost and K-9, let's enjoy the Stanley Cup Finals tonight! Continue to post and have a great Saturday!

  4. Thanes16 is actually Larry Quinn and secretly plotting to take over Batista's job, and drive the Sabres into the ground once more.

I having been hearing that a lot lately. Wait, I just figured out. Guys, Kristian is using me as a smoke screen! He is Larry Quinn! Believe me! Believe me!

  5. This is what someone posted in response to a Buffalo News article "Eichel says he is the best player."

"Eichel and the Sabres deserve each other. Both immature and dilusional. While both are exceptional players McD's 2.55 ppg is in a universe far beyond Eichel's 1.77. How can anyone expect excellence from this organization?"

Have to call bs on that one. Even Dan Marr, central scouting director, has said "it's a fine line" between the two. He did give the edge to McDvid, which is how most people feel, but there is very little difference.

My response to the post above was rather "polite." Simply gave him the fact it is difficult to compare the OHL and NCAA. More or less told the guy it's like trying to compare apples and oranges. OHL has more high potential talent, but it's still made up of 'kids.' The NCAA is made up of young men. Players are bigger, faster and stronger. Disadvantage in the NCAA's is the lower amount of  high potential talent. Main point is you cannot compare stats to decide who is better. Claiming McDavid is 'in a universe far beyond Eichel' is a debate you cannot win. Simply not true.

  6. Remember back a couple years now when X-box said the new system was only going to use downloadable games/content and gamers were like "The ###k?"  I love being able to take a game I own to a buddies house and sometimes, I don't want to be connected to play something.

Ha I remember that. And I loved Sony's response to it!

  7. I think I might get Fallout 4 (if it still comes out for 360). I played 3, never really finished, but I loved the heck out of it. Its been a loong time since I got a  game when it came out and got into it.

Also gonna get NHL this year I think. We'll see.

Do you have a PS4 or Xbox One? Not sure if NHL 16 will be made for the 360 and PS3 this year. EA tries to make as much $ as possible, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was also released on the 360 and PS4. Many didn't care for it, but I enjoyed NHL 15 on the PS4. Sure, lacked many of the features NHL fans enjoyed in the past, but the gameplay was great. That's what matters most to me. NHL 16 will have most, if not all, of the features back from previous games. Ha EA is getting so detailed they will now have players grow playoff beards!

I do have a recommendation for Fallout 4. When it comes out, there are a couple of reasons to not buy it. One, there will probably be a few glitches that will need to be fixed after it's release. Most of the time a simple update can correct that. Two, downloadable content will be offered here and there. If you wait a year or so after Fallout 4's release, a game of the year or special edition will most likely be released. Glitches will be fixed and it will include downloadable content. Just a suggestion. I'll go the route of buying both. I don't like downloading games. Prefer to have a hard copy.

  8. I'm fairly new to the site because I lost interest in the Sabres brand of hockey for about 5 years.  I was drawn back in because of the tank and the upcoming lottery.  It's a great site and I appreciate much of the humor.  Many posters are quite clever and creative.  The photo and video on page 2 of this thread made my day for example.

The only thing that is too bad is when posters take their opinions too seriously and are not respectful of one another.  It's not even fun to follow those threads.  I come here to get away from stress.  If I want an argument I'll talk to my wife!  There's no need to be critical if someone wants to discuss a trade that will never happen or thinks the GM is horrible.  I don't think it matters if you are a new poster or a veteran I don't think anyone likes to be called an idiot just because they have a different opinion or aren't as informed as someone else.  I think it's best when no one takes each other too seriously.

A lot of this picked up shortly before Darcy saying there are tough times ahead for the Sabres. Okay, I can't remember the exact quote, but you get what I'm saying. Shiit, it probably goes further back than that. One could argue Lucic's hit on Miller is when the board started to have a little tension. People slowly began taking sides on the debate on what the Sabres should do next. You were either up for some type of restructure or a complete dismantling of the team and being dependent on the draft. I'll admit I was on the latter of the two. When people get stressed out, they'll naturally become a bit more irritable. The differing opinion turned into the "wife." Let me say this though. This was not the entire board. Majority still respected one another. However, even the ones strongly against another guys opinion were still a reason to be a part of The Aud Club. The venting, probably should use a different word, helped many have a better understanding the pros and cons of each decision made by the Sabres. It showed the amount of passion people on this board have for the Sabres. The guys that differed strongly w/ another persons opinion are valued members. Glad they are on the board. I visit other Sabres boards, but never post. There is a reason for that. Sabre Space is different. And of course different in a good way. People here are rather intelligent, know the x's and o's of the game and have a strong passion for Sabre hockey. This board is one I recommend to all Sabres fans. In my opinion, quality is greater than quantity, but let me add I hope the number of members continue to rise. Just want the noobs to be quality members. SMJ, you're off to a great start! Keep on posting! Welcome to the board! Same goes to other noobs. The future is looking rather bright right now. Let's go buffalo!

  9. I'm torn. OT would be awesome, but waking up at 4:30 for work in the AM makes it harder to swallow...

    Chicagoal!!!

Getting up early for work can be tough, but this is the Stanley Cup Finals. It's worth it.

  10. So, the only thing I can figure is that he changed his name to sloth and then maybe asked for an email address change? That goes into a long list that includes all the people waiting to be validated. Perhaps I deleted his account when removing a spam account?

You...you deleted my account? You son of a @$*#%! Ha ha It's all good. Anyway you can switch my username back to Thanes16? See Noobs, cool place to be. Just don't start out like a persons name I shall not say. Going the Harry Potter route on that one. His early days were rough and I hate to admit a little entertaining. Sort of a did he just say that?!! The guy is good to have on the board now. Let me stress that.

And let me give a giant thanks to everyone that said I actually exist!

  11. I figured I'd mention this since we've discussed Fallout in here.  Bethesda officially announced Fallout 4 today.  I cannot wait!

Did they mention what city they will be destroying this time?

    Boston

A Buffalo sports fan's dream!

Beyond yes on the announcement of Fallout 4! Pure awesomeness. And the fact that Boston is the city that gets blown a part makes it even better!

  12. Remove post counts. Force new members to upload their own avatar, so no more Connolly Tip-offs.

Not a bad idea. Noobs would feel less "intimidated." They'd eventually catch on to who the daily posters are, but by the time they do they'll feel more relaxed when posting. And yes, get rid of the Connolly Tip-offs. That right there is a "Hey guys, see the noob. What do you think of this one?"

And a big ha on this one. I'm not going to mention the member's name or when he joined SabreSpace, but this guy started out rough. Not due to the vets on this board, but because of his quick temper. If you didn't agree w/ him, he'd take it the wrong way and go off. People were being very welcoming to him, but for some reason or another he took things the wrong way. Eventually he realized how respectful this board can be, and he is now a member I'm sure many are glad to have.

  13. Thanes!

Can't someone get this man his name back?

     of happiness!

The support here is over whelming. ha ha  Noobs, pay attention to this stuff!

Let's use an example from 09' or so. I believe it was Godd or Deluca that did this. I mentioned in a thread, probably one for video games, my 360 had crashed and I could no longer play NHL 09' on it. After hearing about it, Godd or Deluca sent me his copy of NHL 09' for the ps2. Godd/Deluca and I do not know each other, but this shows how friendly/great this board can be.

If it wasn't Godd or Deluca that did this, I apologize to the person that sent me the game. SabreSpace is a great "community" to be a part of.
