The major concern with Kane and long term, big money contacts is simply can he stay clean off the ice. He definitely , barring a total collapse in his play, will be looking long term for big money. I was happy with ROR and Okposo contracts but Kane, to me, is bigger risk and I would discount some because of that for sure.

So the Gold Bar Standard Team for rebuilds came into town and showed Buffalo what they need to aspire to?
30 games behind .500 when it bottomed out then rebuild, then it was
20 games below .500,
2 games below .500,
10 games above .500, and a conference finals appearance,
22 games above .500 and a Stanley Cup win
So they went from a cellar team to Stanley Cup champs in basically 4 seasons, and each year was constant improvement. We sure don't seem to be on the same steady climb to the top pacing here.
No excuses, if this team isn't pushing deep into playoffs next year, and above .500, the rebuild isn't effective.
Don't agree at all in your timeline. I guess I remember how down Chicago was and how long it took to get where they are now.

Phew!!!!!!!!!!
-
Oh just great!!!!!!!!!
-
For the record. KULIKOV is not good.
-
Just not what you need with time left!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
They still tend to not get the puck out and the Blues can eat up those loose pucks
Big PK here.

One thing I don't want now is to see Kane get a fighting major.

It is hard to even listen to Dunleavy. Worst play by play I hockey in my opinion. The guy calling Amerks games is so much better than Dunleavy.I like Rob Ray for the entertainment factor. But most teams I've watched have a play by play guy, a color guy and an on-ice guy. They have Rob doing too much. I'd like to see Marty step in so they have three guys. Some nights Dunleavy can call game, RJ can do other............ some nights Rob can be on the ice with Marty up top with RJ/DD, some nights Marty can be on the ice with Rob up top with RJ/DD. That way there's four different combinations, it breaks the monotony.

Its about player development. Will Baptiste develop better playing first line and PP minutes in Roch? Or 7-8min a game on the 4th line in BUF?
This is hockey quote when nothing else seems to fit.

I think he should be up here. Can think of a few forwards he's better then right now. His talent better than compensates for the experience he lacks at this level.

Do you mind if I hide this post from my wife? Been married 51 years and don't want you ending it here.Gonna pass on tonight's game. Spending some Valentine's Day time with the wife.
Of course she may suggest to watch the game. There's a reason I married her!

Man, am I the only one that's sick of this "system" bs. What exactly are we freakin talking about? It's freakin hockey!!!!!
-
If you treat your players poorly, you will have a had time signing others later on
True. I would think the player, such as Brian, is a part of the decision unless it's a deal of no brainer status.
-
Like what? Maybe you have an absurdly simple idea of the level of play. What an absurdly specific thing to be working on

I simply don't like DDB as a person. He's so boring to listen to in any interviews and it seems like it's always an excuse with him. "This team is so good at this so we have to limit there chances" , "this team does this so we can't do this". He comes off as a loser and I hate it. Recently when we lost to Tampa he was saying something about how you can't get pucks deep on them, Bishop controls the puck or something....A. Tampa is one of the worst teams in the league, I don't buy that at all, and B. if you know that, stop dumping it in and change your system! (sorry derrico).
DDB is lifeless, I want a coach who shows a modicum of emotion. Bylsma is an excuse machine and I think that seeps into the players mentality.
You mean you don't like him as a coach, I assume. Not liking someone as a person is a different thing.
-
Babcock is going to make the playoffs with that roster. I'd bet anything he could have us in the playoffs
I'm saying probability. I would not make that bet. We have glaring weaknesses beyond coaching still to fill. I also think you underestimate Toronto's talent more than I do.
-
Quite frankly the expectations of playoffs this year were a bit grandiose anyway. Impossible? Improbable? Yes. That goes no matter who the coach is, although I'm not a big fan of Bylsma.
-
Brady is the best all time. Like him or not I truly think that and I've been watching games for over sixty years and that's a lot of great quarterbacks. He's the best.
-
Dunleavy oh by the way, score.
-
Dunleavy has to be one of the worst play by play announcers in the game. Painful.
-
As the time passes I hope we or future fans realize that we had what was one of the best of all time. For me, a Sabres fan.......the best of all time.
-
With McCabe out he's easily second, when McCabe is healthy, he's at worst 3rd.
Agree.
-
Trade him
Except he is probably our third, some may argue fourth, best defenseman on our team. So it all depends what the return is.
