This day on Sabres history- The beginning of suffering
Thorny replied to Weave's topic in The Aud Club
I actually *care* that the last 10 years of the ONLY 60 or so I’ll MAYBE get in life before utter nothingness takes hold were an absolute abomination where my favourite sports team was concerned. You don’t get that sh*te back. It’s definitely NOT worth it when there is zero logical reason to think it NEEDED to take this long. Oodles of other teams have provided the proof -

No. Why would it be. There’s a statute of limitations. Would be ridiculously implausible to suggest we *needed* to fight our way out of a huge hole in order to be good -

Agree Lol no tho. He didn’t “trade a bunch of picks”. This is the misnomer Murray actually *brought in* more picks than he sent out. The idea Murray dealt away “too much”, *frequently* refrained on this board shouldn’t even exist. It was an issue of quality, not quantity. The only argument that exists saying Murray traded too many is if *one* is too many because he was a bad GM and made poor trades. But it’s two different things that shouldn’t be conflated: it’s, again, frequently frequently mentioned that Adams shouldn’t deal too many futures because he’d be “pulling a Murray”. Murray didn’t deal too many. He just dealt poorly. making trades is good if you are a good GM. -

And I posted the research the other day (for the 10th time) that Botterill both traded more picks and brought in less. Yet only Murray gets the rap. the board doesn’t care, man Why Skivvy lol -
The STL loss edit NM my mistake, I read it wrong. You were talking about 2 separate years
-
Modo must be livid
-
This game is a battle of two teams with “cool” jerseys done right
-
I need a flow chart to keep up with who the villains are and who the “can’t blame ‘em!” guys are
-
It’s neither
-
They are totally stunned. It’s not surprising. What a collapse after that regular season
-
Could be Bergeron’s last game
-
3 straight home losses? That’s nuts. Montour was honestly probably the Panthers MVP. Game was all but over
-
We really are getting a Canadian cup winner this year aren’t we?
-
No I think it’s Jeremy
-
Swayman has been unreal in OT
-
If Florida doesn’t win tkachuk will dream about that forever
-
You could argue Montour has had a better season than any former Sabres guy. Lets see who wins this series first
-
Ya I guess Bruin Blower doesn’t have quite the same ring to it..
-
Year of the blown lead for sure
-
Montour is new Orr
-
Swayman is new Brady Isn’t it amazing what you can’t accomplish while OT is on?
-
I find myself pulling for Boston b/c i think they prob have the best shot st knocking off the Leafs and Oilers of the world
-
And there it is. The funniest thing is the over the glass call also gets made to a certainty, so by the “let the boys play” process, and not calling anything in an effort to avoid “affecting” the game, they actually affect the game by picking and choosing which rules to enforce

A good rule in hockey is that if you have the lead in the 3rd, you play exclusively D and allow the other team to post up for 20 mins
