Another cost cutting move, can we hope Terry and KA are prepping for a big salary UFA for top 6 forward or trade with all this extra cash they're accumulating??

We all know this, but the Sabres have won 6 out of 8 and are now at DeLuca .500, which is a real and important thing.
Here comes a test of their mental toughness, as they start another game about 20 hours after the end of their previous game, this one against a team they can beat if they bring it. Will they be pleased with themselves, take their foot off the gas and reveal themselves again to be not serious people? Or will they come out like a serious, hungry team?
Well this is their 3rd game in 4 days and neither of the first 2 were easy plus an OT yesterday. It will take a herculean effort to win tonight.
GO SABRES

The Texans secondary is suspect, Allen should have a great game and torch them. There'll be a large Bills contingent at the game also. Lots of ex-Bills fans in Houston/Texas. It should be a fun game. Texans also have no running game with Mixon still out. If our secondary holds up, we should win this game.

Early season have to have a win game. Let's Go Buffalo. Surprised Benson is out, does Lindy think he's banged up or sending a message??

The network that we can stream the game on is always beneficial. ESPN has it listed as NHL network but I’m not confident ESPN gets anything right with the NHL.
Checked my TV guide, it is on NHL Network

Nice.
Good job by KA.
Wow a complement from you is hopefully not the kiss of death for him

Well back on topic:
1) They quit giving up a goal in the 1st 2 minutes of the games they play
2) No major injuries to their top 6, whoever joins Cozens and Quinn on line 2 helps them gain their potential
3) UPL continues his improved play
4) Fix the PP
5) That young backend of Dahlin, Samuelsson, Power, Byram plays up to their draft status and becomes the strength of the team
6) Ruff can still coach
7) Quit giving up so many odd man rushes to the opposition
8) PK improves and keeps Thompson especially fresh and off of it

If he holds up, that's a great contract for the Sabres. Even if Levi takes over that's a very tradable deal.

@Thorny so you think KA can do anything he wants carte blanche without Pegula’s ok?? I don’t understand what you disagreed with me about.

No, I don't think so. That first year he brought in Hall and Staal and company in an effort to win now with Eichel; I think *that* was at Pegula's urging, but that same summer (2020) he signed Reinhart to only a one year bridge, which to me was the first concrete sign that Kevyn was thinking rebuild. I think he was already planning to trade Eichel before he was incapacitated with his neck injury.
In 2020 Kevyn brought in Hall, Staal, Eakin and Sheahan to try to give Eichel some veteran help, I believe at the urging of Krueger and TPegs. It was only after that failed spectacularly that Kevyn was able to get buy-in from TPegs to move some of the rotten tankfruit out do the larger rebuild.
Not allowing Eichel to have his surgery couldn’t have happened without Pegula’s say so. No way KA makes that call independently.

He’s more trusted to be a 3C than Peyton Krebs and has Stanley Cup Final experience, so trading one of your four/five other similar prospects (Kulich, Rosan, Östlund, Helenius, beaten out by Benson) makes sense to improve your 2024-25 Sabres. I like it.
He's bigger, faster, better at face-offs and he's better defensively than Krebs. My guess if Krebs stays on the team he's seen his last days as a C. As a 3C, my guess this is also a Lindy approved deal. As for Savoie, I could be wrong but I think at this point he wouldn't be the 9th pick in that draft, plus we have other options coming up, he won't be missed. We are now a much faster team than we were last year, we'll see if that works in our favor. KA and Lindy are changing the face of this team moving forward, there's little question about that. Zucker IMO will help Quinn and Cozens move forward.

I suppose Krebs could beat out Malenstyn or Rafferty. Either way, he's decent insurance.
Although l agree with you, no telling how Lindy will setup his lines or D pairings. I doubt he’ll follow the Granato way

Why is Bryson in on the penalty kill?? DG has to be one of the worst game managers in the NHL

The Sabres are only 27 points behind the Panthers so this rebuild is clearly working
We're only 5 points out of a playoff spot. Baby steps bro... Big game tonight, nobody seen this coming 3 weeks ago.

Yup. I don’t trust anyone on this team.
Yep I can go for that but not just him
5 minutes ago, Weave said:There is that.
And I keep going back to phantom success when players play in roles above them. They often have better numbers than they should. At least for awhile.
He's playing mostly 3rd line minutes, so he should be on the 4th line??
-
1st in points, 1st in assists, 4th in goals, 1st in +/- for the team, a +17 over Cozens in +/-, plays on 1st thru 3rd line, one of the better forwards on the wall and you want to trade this guy, you don't trust him?? I'm guessing some of you then don't trust anyone on the team. He's also 2nd on the team's forwards in TOI. I'm not sure what else you want from this guy. This isn't 2019, he's past that stage, give the man his due, he's playing as well as anyone on the team right now. At his present pace he'll score 70 points this year. You're ok to give a guy 7M for 40 points but you don't want to pay him a decent salary and term. Oh I forgot he doesn't fight so get rid of him 🙄🙄🙄

Trade : Conor Timmins and Isaac Belliveau from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Connor Clifton and the 39th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
