Zamula is 6'3" and just coming into his own. Sanheim is 27 but locked up long term and he is solid. Maybe that's not "young" but he's in his prime. York has also become a top defender. Bonk is still developing. The others you already mentioned are all looking promising. How many do you want, they only need 6 starters.

Who do you mean by Buffalo's 2nd and 3rd rounders? RJ is the only guy I see pushing for an NHL spot.

With the addition of Byram you can argue the Buffalo defense is better. It's certainly more talented, but I'm not sure it's better as a unit defending.

With Byram in the team, once Samuelsson gets healthy, I'd look to move on from him.

This was an expected outcome given Malmo's place in the standings. I love that he's headed over to get involved immediately.

(What worries me is he does well and finds himself the 4C in Buffalo in October. Such a good end to '23-'24, such a great training camp -- can't block him! And then he's not nearly ready for such a task.)

I agree they'll re-sign Girgensons to play 4C or trade for someone like Laughton before starting Wahlberg there.  He will likely follow Rosen's path.

Robinson deserves some kudos as well....and VO can say **** off to the rest of the organization for this game even being tied.

Robinson has been a nice add.  It just shows that you don't need to give up a ton to find a physical player with speed.  He's been fine.  Olofsson has been lost for a few years now.  It's not really the coaching staff's fault, he cannot poke check.

For those who wanted Adams to make a high-profile move, you got your wish.

I'm not a big fan of trade, given that Bynum's skillset seems to be similar to what the team already has.  Dahlin and Power are both talented "puck moving" defensemen, and Ryan Johnson and Jokihairu also skate well with the puck.  The team really needs a physical presence on the blue line.  Clifton plays physical, but is small and not highly skilled.

On the offensive side, Mittlestadt has been one of the team's few forwards who was strong along the boards and gave maximum effort all the time, while also displaying a high level of skill.  Do any of the many young forwards in the pipeline play that style?  I know there's skill, but is there the grit and determination along the boards, which this team sorely needs?  I can only think that Mittlestadt's representation were in discussions with Adams about an extension and they were not seeing eye-to-eye.  Rather than having a disgruntled player and bad PR, Adams made a move.

If Bynum can stay healthy, the value is there.  He's a high draft pick with NHL experience, has shown high-end ability, and is still young.  I just don't see it as a fit for the Sabres' needs.

    You realize, it's Byram, right?

Could you imagine time traveling from 2 years ago and see everyone this upset about trading Casey freaking Mittelstadt.?

He’s the face of Sabres mediocrity.

I'm not mad about trading Casey, I'm mad we traded him for a guy with concussion and injury concerns who has "meh" metrics.  He's also yet another ***** left handed defensemen.
